sweet gear. i like the fretless stingray. i think my sterling is 07 not sure tho. how can you tell?
take the neck off the bass or post your serial number on the EBMM boards in the "my serial number is" thread. one of their CS people will give you the exact day it was completed
4. Matt, a m8 of mine up here bought the L-1500 off me at the end of June. I got him into G&L when he bought both Legacy and Invader XL guitars off me. he wanted a bass, wanted another G&L and I wanted a holiday in Turkey with the girlfriend so worked out good.Man that bass had one spiky aggressive tone! Ste, ah yes the deal that never was. Am pleased for you,you found a bass thats tickling you. I keep hankering after a Bongo 5 still but then i just think of how much I cant be doing with where the neck pickup is and i forget about them again as soon as. This could go on a long time......... cheers Keir
5. G&Ls look best when they're a bit pimped and gaudy like this one

7.
£500? I can't believe it, I've had a 'wanted' post on here for an LX5 for a while now and would have paid up to £800 for one too.
probably fate then that i didnt offer you your old one back
8. nice one on the black cherry!
9. I'm in Glasgow tomorrow morning. If they;ve got the spalted maple Euro LX5 they had,on the above special (or any other Euros for that matter) my resistance will most likely crumble and I'll be getting the plastic out. fantastic basses.
10. I had a Bartolini MMC in a Stingray about 10 years ago. It sounded nice and warm and fat but it was too polite and didnt sound like a Stingray should (to my ears). It was replaced with one of the Ducan basslines replacement ones..cant remember whether it was alnico or ceramic - they do both.... anyway it sounded much more like a Ray again I'd go white pearloid or black with red/maple. it looks great as it is now imo
11. one of the best colours MM ever did. great looking 5.
12. beautiful looking G&L. one of the nicest I've yet seen
13.
any pics of the ASAT?
np,.............. with the SB-2 and alone cheers Keir
14. +1 The G&L Tribute L-2000 I used to own was an earlier Korean one. With regards to fretting it was better finished than the USA ones I have and the action was lower and slicker as a result. I'd have no worries buying another unseen
15. Just a quick heads up...last saturday went shopping to look at Takamine,Martin,Taylor dreadnoughts but ended up coming away from GuitarGuitar Glasgow with a Tacoma JM9 Jumbo. solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, satin finish, made in Tacoma,Washington and came with a beautiful plush Tacoma case. RRP £699 I paid £329 absolutely beautuful guitar with a sound to match. I tried 20 acoustics and for the price nothing came anywhere close they also have the mini jumbos, dreadnoughts and roadking models around the same price as well and a number of higher spec'd models going cheap too.some have Fishman & LR Baggs electronics I believe the centre soundhole models have been discontinued hence the crazy prices. http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/acoustic_gui...&guitars=26 another Fender owned company,Ovation are also having a load of their USA models having production switched to the far east. I've seen some great deals(half price )on Balladeer LX's on the bay of late
16. I'd say more like early G&L L2Ks and wunkays.
17. would love a Vigier and I like red guitars so thats one hot bass!
18.
Sound Control in glasgow has one for £2200 It looks similar to the 20th anniversary one that i used to have without a scratchplate.
the one in Glasgow has the control plate without the pickguard which just looks plain wrong imo. Del,did you sell your 20th to a fella from Greenock by any chance?
19. love the black crinkle bridge and the built in mojo on that one. a sweet looking bass
20. very nice but I'd rather have a 20th SR4 (or 5)
21. three and a half grand!! well I just had a look in my pocket and I'm skint too but you're skint because you've got 52 basses
22.
It was factory specified not to have a string tree, and there doesn't seem to be any dead spots due to the lack of one, so I wouldn't bother. Are you leaving the V/T setup as it is? I wondered about a dual V/T stack for more control but never got round to it.
Hi BB,maybe in time I'll have the stacked controls but I'm happy enough with it as it is. I guess I've only the 3 tones with no mixes inbetween but each setting is really great sounding so I dont mind.
Preeeeettttttyyyyy 'n' spaaaarrrkkkkllllllyyyy.....oooooooooh me likes it. I too love the neck any chance of a close up pic??
I still have one of BB2000s pics from when it was his
I also have an SB-2, but in black and vol/vol pots only. (& no string Tree!) But I'm not over over impressed with the output from the Precision pickup. Not the 'huge amounts of thump from the MFD split P' that you get so I'm wondering if I could have a duff pickup? I do change strings regularly so any ideas? I have also tried a diffferent bass through my amp (fender P Special) which gives a lot more 'thump' and tonal range. Cheers, Tim
have you tried raising the pickups and/or polepieces? I found the bridge pickup was swamped by the P when i first got it. With both p/ups on the P overpowered the SC. I had to hike the bridge one a fair bit till I got what i thought the right balance. Tonight I played my SB-2 and Asat one after another, both on the neck pickups and the Asat in passive/series. the SB2 wasnt any quieter or lacking in body hope this helps cheers
23. I used to have a Bongo 4 with the humbucker and single coil. the sc was just too close to the neck for my way of playing. I havent played one but the 3 band single H Bongo gets good reviews.the HB is in the sweetspot and the 3 band EQ bites a bit more than the 4EQ on the other versions but as I've only ever seen and tried the HS and the HH,I'm only repeating what the Bongo H owners on the EBMM boards are saying Strings and Things will send up a bass tp their nearest dealer to you for you to try so if you can try a HH or HS in stock it may be worth having a single H sent up to audition as I doubt you'll see any shops carrying one FWIW I did love the 4 band EQ on the HS and I thought the bass sounded A1/first class
