1.
+1 With all the great comments about build quality and that awesome Blizzard Pearl finish I'm actually considering buying a Precision, which is something I thought I'd never do.
Do it!
2. my 08 Precision is a better bass for sure than the 2 MIA Std P's I owned before. I like the light weight and the way it plays and sounds so good. neck pocket seems tighter too.details like the buffed rosewood board and glossed headstock all add up imo. my only niggle is the finish is dead easy to chip and dent but apart from that, great bass and the Blizzard Pearl finish is also the dogs danglies.
3. Gerry part ex'd his MIM 60's classic jazz bass against my Stingray at lunchtime today. A great guy to deal with once again. enjoy the StingRay mate! Keir
4. jezzaboy took this in a trade deal cheers Gerry once again! Keir
5. new pics with the black plate on (my preference). could take some more with the clear one if anyone wants them. the actual burst is less garish than it looks in the pics. its far more subtle looking in the flesh, not so much red. any marks are just reflections or fingerprints.
6. neither was I mate. When I first got it I had wanted a sunburst stinger for 20 years. its a beautiful piece but redundant now unfortunately. had a number of enquiries but still for sale will get some new pics up either Thursday or Friday cheers Keir

Mike Brooks

bought a white scratchplate for my stingray 5 from Mike. kept me informed all the way, plate was well packed and arrived quickly. top fella, shame he's a gooner thanks Mike!
13. traded my Bongo 4 for Ian's Bongo 5. Met him at the Cairnryan ferry terminal and spent 90 minutes sitting talking basses Ian's a top basschatter and deals like this are what make basschat great imo. enjoy the bass mate,I'm enchanted with the 5! Keir
14. this used to be mine for about a year and it is a great sounding/playing bass .Superb fretwork and a great neck. One of the best neck/pocket fits I've seen too. The 19mm spacing was a bit wide for me and was the only reason I let it go. The review in the mag is of this actual bass. By the time I got it from Eubassix the preamp had been changed from the one in the review so that the mid frequency is now on a trim pot inside the control cavity and the boost/cut on the front as opposed to the other way round which it was before.
15. I contacted Strings & Things enquiring about about 4 chrome control knobs for my SR5. I was told they sell them in sets of three which is no good. Where's the best place to get them and can anyone tell me the exact replacement part # ? any help gratefully appreciated.
16. well done Joe. congrats are in order
17. I dont know the current price of the JB-2's sorry. Probably best calling your local G&L dealer for details. I tried for a sunburst/maple one a little while back and they were out of stock http://www.fcnmusic.co.uk/wheretobuy.asp
18. bump before ebay
19. The Tributes are very good. I had a Korean natural ash L2000 and it played brilliantly. my only personal niggles are the tuners could be a little better (though they're fine) and I dont like the way the back of the neck resolves into the heel area or the headstock. it looks a little rushed but again very minor.Looks, tone and playability were all spot on. You may want to try a L2500 first as from what I've read the necks are fairly chunky even for a 5.
20.
The jazz basses are doing nothing me for (I'm a bit past that phase now I think) but the Tribute L-2000 with carved maple top and vintage neck tint is very smart indeed. If it were a natural finish over that top I'd hit the roof with joy.
there is a natural finish maple carved top though seems to be rosewood & a clear gloss finish on the neck only http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/Tribu...d_Top/index.asp
21. Joe's a great guy to deal with on the phone and via PM. I originally promised my green Spector Euro 5 string to him without any kind of timeframe, but when my circumstances changed and I simply needed the money for the car I got this week,he came through with the money within 24hrs. Nothing but good words to say about him. I'm happy he has the bass as he really wanted a Euro 5 in that colour and had been looking a little while. Deal with Joe in total confidence. Keir
22. sweet Sterling, crazy bargain price! ok checked bank, new car took all my savings this week,no Sterling HS on me, I'm out
