Just got the Ashdown Sub Octave pedal from Martin. Extremely happy with the pedal and the transaction. Buy from him with absolute confidence. Keir
2. ^^ love that V4 - in Dave's pics it looked more green. Awesome bass btw - I held back phoning him about it,my bank balance is better for it but I'm now a bit sore with snoozing and losing on this. anyway congrats on scoring a great bass!
3.
To my mind, people have a real problem, that is... living with fender and musicman and thats it ! G&L surpass both, sure you can have a pop at the eye gouger headstock, but these are well engineered basses with years of heritage attached to them, any bass and especially the hi end boutique bass have ugly bits, wals arnt that beautiful, except in the eye of the beholder for instance, but these are still leo and georges best kept secret. rant over.
well ranted! and bump for a great bass
4. crikey - 7 string fretless acoustic - with that amount of string tension it'll probably fold in on itself
5. nice one! well you got it in the end in a round about way . you're right about the sound. definetely the warmest sounding Euro 5 I've owned/played. the green 5 I've still got and others I auditioned at sound control all sound to have a more extreme glassy top end and not so plummy in the lows. THis one is a little softer sounding for want of a better description, and very musical to my ears for it
6.
Brilliant.............and what about this one? Enormous Room
wow! that is astounding!
7. just bought a gold scratchplate for a P bass from Alan. as most of you probably already know he's a top fella. He sent the plate 1st class same day before I even sent payment! thats service above and beyond what can be expected imo. thanks again Keir
8. came with the 08 MIA Std Precision I got in January. It must be for a MIM as it doesnt have the truss rod access notch but will fit either MIA or MIM. 13 hole,3 ply heres a pic of it when it was on my bass SOLD cheers
9. best of luck with everything Steve. I hope it pans out well on the work front for you
10. I'd like this WD brushed gold plate NGH has for sale http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/P_BASS_ME...ULATED)_PBS-414 similiar question to Mecklenburgs post about jazzes but this time in reverse. I've an 08 MIA P and was wondering whether this WD one for the mexican precisions would fit? the bass at the moment (and how it came to me) already has a replacement pearloid one without the truss rod access so I'm guessing that was maybe made for a MIM. cheers
11. looks a nice one. The Stingray 5's are great imo (well I'm biased what with owning one) - a bit less in your face tonewise than the 4's. the price is towards the upper end for used but I see these reguarly on ebay on private listings asking for the same so not a bad deal given its from a shop. DaveB (as in Bennett I think) is the boss at MachineHead and posts on the MusicMan boards. fwiw a mate of mine just bought a used MM Silhouette Special guitar from there and is delighted with it
12. since '93 I've owned 20+ of both their basses and guitars and not one was a duffer. some have been even better than others but they've all been exceptionally well put together
13. I saw them in glasgow on the second night of the return to eden tour and they were excellent (particuarly some of the album tracks off the Rage In Eden album). I like his playing when he plays but even by Systems of Romance he was using the MiniMoog instead on at least half an album which maybe makes him not stand out in any way (obviously not a bad thing being a bassplayer). He always was a good backing vocalist as well imo
14. shame the 5 didnt work out for you Jon - I hope you get the bass you're after. I got the bass from tonyf and had it 18 months, (with a 3 month break when it went to owen on here and then came back to me) and it was never less than inspiring to play. It was my favourite of the Euros I owned/tried ps I'm still happy as a pig in muck with the Bongo I got from you
15. these basses were reviewed by Ed Friedland in this months bass player mag. theres links to the OP's scan of the review 4th post down edit : sry not Ed's review. I was reading another post about him reviewing the basses just prior http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-...r-magazine.html
16. that one looks more like lava pearl than DG. I prefer the sound of the 4HS I used to own to the 4HH I do now. There seems more variety of tone with the single coil in the neck when you turn the pan control and I also prefer the tone of the sc solo'd over the neck humbucker. I mustn't grumble though as both models are fantastic sounding - but the HS wins out in my estimation. great looking Bongo btw
17. G&L JB-2. USA or Tribute versions - both have alnico pickups and a jazz profile neck
18. ah its a shame your one experience with a G&L wasnt so favourable. fwiw the SB-2 is a great workhorse, the P sound on my usa SB-2 is miles better than my Fender 08 MIA,at least to my ears anyway. Mine is the best passive bass I ever owned and I kept it over my G&L Asat & L2K basses which also sounded great with the actives bypassed.
19. Boxed,hardly used. £30 + £5 postage http://line6.com/tonecore/constrictor.html
20. I always loved his voice,a real torch singer - my parents were big fans and they got me into him. +1 on the big production work. but then it needed to be to do justice to that voice.

23.
With your current bass line up why would you want a G&L at any price?
why not? they're great basses capable of a whole range of tones.
