1. ^^ thanks for the compliment. and you've noodled on this bass yourself no doubt - it used belong to mikeH at one point
2. just wait for the pound to go back up against the dollar and then get your H used off the EBMM boards. thats how I got my white one. i dont think the finish is too sticky. not as nice feeling as say a sterling or stingray wax/oil finish but they're buggers to maintain by comparison. and yes I do remember your 5 because I unsuccessfully tried to get it from you with a rather (at the time)pointless offer of another 5 string in exchange
3. at the time I thought that medallion gold 5 you had was amzing and you were nuts for selling it but I was a right silly sausage myself and traded away a rare white Bongo 4HS and then pulled out a deal on a sweet carbon blue pearl 5HS so who am I to talk? Bongo 5 would be great and maybe next on my wishlist though G&Ls always seem to interfere with my musicman plans.....still looks like I've an Sr4 incoming the stingray 5 is in a rare factory colour cos no one liked it and bought them.Me I love it,just need to change the pg out for a vintage creamy pearloid and chrome knobs too and it will be done get yourself an H!....but where to find one?
4. My Bongo which I got back in March some on its own: and a couple with friends:
5. great review on a great bass - I've overcome any niggles with the ergonomics and design of the bass now that I'm on my second one. They sound and play stellar and I can live with the little things as they dont affect tone and playability. post some pics of yours, egyptian smoke is a great finish. I take it you've got the python PG on her
6. The 35'' scale length and fairly chunky neck on my Euro 5 make it quite a handful. I record a fair bit with mine and after switching to the spector from another bass the volume jump is sometimes just too much. I've learned to keep the tonepump flat and add a teeny bit treble or bass as needed. The sustain on the neck thru is fantastic and build quality wise, they're up there imo and feel like they'll last forever. Also very very pretty too. a USA NS model is on another level still and I'm hoping to own one of those in my future I used to have 2 Euro 5's but crazykiwi now has the other one. I'm still happy with the one I've left
7.
Oh my Lord! thats 20th is AWESOME! Id change the scratchplate but thats LUSH x 100000000000000000.1
that could be messy - iirc they're glued on the 20th,not fixed with screws.

9. outstanding looking bass! I've never seen a fretless in this colour before and only ever a handful for sale used in pearl lavender including this one. I managed to get my 5 string with a maple board and matching headstock after a couple of years looking at ebay and the ebmm boards.
10. fantastic! My G&L GAS is going into overdrive with this one
11. I used to own an older ash Std with the wenge neck. It was passive and sounded great. the one that I'd like to have a go with is the $$. I've yet to try one though
12. the colour is called pearl lavender and was discontinued in around '02 . its close(ish) to Fender's burgandy mist. I have a Stingray 5 in the same.
13.
do you know the serial number's letter on your sterling?
if you mean the letter that preceeds the numbers,Sterlings and Bongos begin with "F" and SR4/5 begin with "E"
14. I love the Echo Park tonecore pedal. I got mine from sk8 last year and I'll never sell it. I also like the FX on the Toneport UX2. I used to record with a POD XT Live but I ditched that for the UX2 and am much happier nowadays. edit: and I think the vocal preamp settings on the UX2 are astounding for the hundred quid I paid for it.
15. welcome thodrik, nice gear! I always liked the look of the Excess though I've never tried one. Not even sure if theres anyone else on here with one. post a pic of it in the gear porn section when you get a chance please?
16. given all the basses you own,it must have made quite an impression! I'm very happy with my single H Stingray 5 - I get enough variation out of the EQ and the series/single coil/parallel switch - The SR5 does sound a bit more polite than the other MM models imo when solo'd but in a band context it sounds just as you say..fat! Some maybe disagree but I think its a great sounding bass in a mix.
17. are either of the Curbows passive? I thought they were active. I've played a few and I like them
18. they should sound the same - the bridge hb is in the same place,is wired in parallel and is selectable on its own
19.
I have a Stingray5 and i would say its one of the best 5 string's ive played...Just awsome tone...The best B string ive encountered....You just can not go wrong with one of these!!!!
+1
20. my G&L SB-2 a great workhorse bass with a lovely neck, great tone and a character all of its own.
