I've not tube-rolled for a long while and nor did I do it enough to be able to have any authority to select favourites by ear. However, I have always liked the JJ valves when I have used them. Interestingly, buying from Watford Valves, the in house premium Harma brand STR ECC83 is in fact a specially selected, drive tested and low noise JJ - I mean, if you want the best of the batches, then the Harma represents good value for money. The ECC83S was the model I went with.. Umm.. I think ha ha!

I've been using and have reviewed the DarkGlass Ultra (which I think will be out in an up coming issue soon). It is very good indeed, but like Bigwan, the announcement that Parallax has landed has me very interested as it seems to encompass lots of "building blocks" that I have been using in my rack set ups and more recently smaller gear configurations for well over 20 years!

I need to check this out. the C.A.R Strat is amongst my all time favourite guitars. In my rather short list there's only one I have had the pleasure to play.. and it's not this one either.. 😂

ahhh Jifs and Jigga Bites... those halcyon days working in I.T. I'll never forjet...
-
OH! Goodness! Thank you - That means a huge amount to me, especially when the amp is delivering the goods as hoped!
-
Congrats! I really enjoyed the brief time I had with this amp. Even now I recall reviewing it and being sorely tempted to double my chiropractic bill. - Actually, yes it is heavy but the handles as I recall did make moving it easier? I liked the well thought out signal path options of which there is more than enough to keep the tweezers happy. Great! I reckon another 4x10 underneath would be just the right amount of WOHHHH we all know and love

Heh heh! I've had many near misses too. Actually come to think of it, there was one blisteringly hot day that I had to have a shirt over the top of my T Shirt due to a spillage! Ahhh that's more than cool, I think I'll just enjoy the geek out even if it is stuff I am aware of - moreover, if I get asked about IEMs, I can certainly send the link and refer to your discussion specifically. Thank you on behalf of those getting in to IEMs for doing this. I think it will be a great resource.

I'm really looking forward to watching your two videos. I did see just a minute or so of the second one as I was waiting for a student to arrive here.. The scarf thing .. 😂 Will hopefully catch up with the rest later on.

Rest In Peace fellow low-ender.

There's no denying it has a very wide sonic palette between its available modes. Great form factor and sounds cool. I'd still fancy a @Tech21NYC Q/Strip though..ermmm.. as well ha ha!!

However fine motor skills are honed by playing a number of different instruments. Even variations of type. Bass, 4,5,6,7 string. Guitar, chunky neck, skinny flat neck,,keyboard.. drums... And errr, that's why I need all of those.. (still working on getting drums...)

If I am honest, I would say that most of my gigs at the moment have no requirement for a 6 strip and only some times the low B - Though I like to use it a bit more to add depth to some versions of songs we do. I could easily gig with just a 4 string, but the reason I use the 6 all the time is because.. well... its my lil babe. The best bass I've ever played and therefore even if I don't need all the strings, it's coming out to play with me every gig My keyboard player uses a full size 'piano weighted controller', the full 88 keys. I guess it would be the same as her leaving 20 of those keys at home ha ha. She loves that deck!

Shhhhhh, I’m trying not to buy another six string bass 😂😂😂😂 my main squeeze for 25 odd years!
-
And this one from @SpondonBassed above has got to be one for the quotes thread.. just because..well.. I said so he he he!!
-
Oh, now see, you're demonstrating some impressive bass geekism there! I used to just say that my insides look like a stick of Brighton Rock, just saying bass down the middle.. Hex Core Spine? Now that sums it up better!

A good friend of mine asked me once what other hobbies I have aside from playing bass. The silence afterward was deafening 😂 (True story!)

A)Led fretboard or not Yes B)Maple or Wengé fretboard Maple C)Single headless pieces or whole bridge Single Mono-Rail D)Brass or steel string clamp at headstock Brass E)Active or passive Active F)3 band or 3 band parametric Would prefer parametric G)Oil finish or polyurethane Poly H)Scale length- 25 or 28 inch 34" for bass 26.5" for guitar - 28 with respect to your design. I)Bolt on or neck through Neck through for bass J)Truss rod or just carbon support rods Both K)Out jack on top or side Side away from standing positions L)Extended fretboard to act as ramp or not No, would get in the way of slap position. Separate ramp between pickups I can share pictures of this very dream bass by the way

Ok, last one.. I had some branding designed (as you can see in my avatar and signature). I never met the designer, nor did I even speak to him before he came up with the design you can see. He only looked at my social media for a few minutes and summed up in these logos. They remain unchanged from that day other than adding colour. That is how much bass geek I am lol!!!!

My daughter genuinely thought that the Bass Clef was my own symbol. She still calls it "your symbol" even now.

My cupboards for my basses and gear wildly outnumbers the cupboards for storage of pretty much everything else I own in the house.

When I got to get change out of my pocket in the shops, I have to dig through the plectrums to find the right coins.
