1.
another good sikth track for some nicely timed slap would be the beginning of summer rain too
Ahhh, yeah, love that song!
  2. Has anyone mentioned working closely with a metronome yet? I think it is very important especially if you are working with other rhythmic sources (such as drums) that may not be playing exactly the same as you. Play the parts slowly so EACH pluck / slap / ghost note falls exactly where it should do in context. As an example - how many of us have heard a drummer with a really 'sloppy' right foot, where the kicks are late or ill timed? It's just the same with slap bass I feel. So important to lock in with the beat so the groove you are aiming for is tight. - I realise the sound isn't so good on this clip - but it's an example of how Bass and Drums are locking together. This is ma ole matey Pin and the guys from SikTh doing an instrumental version of one of their tracks for ACM. James' style and tone on Bass is inspiring for many!
  3.
Looks like I have a 'chat' set up with Vic Wooten already
Sweeeeeet! I'll take a look at the details / flights later on and see if my bank manager likes the idea ha!
  4. I'd love to be there! What a line up and a great networking opportunity for any bass player!
  5.
Matt's a great drummer - had the pleasure of jamming with him a couple of times - I'm good mates with Webby, his mate that helped him with a lot of his clinics at NDA.
Ahhh yup, I know our Webby! He's a character! Say hi from me won'cha! Small world eh!! - Matt is indeed a great drummer. Tons of 'groove' in that lad! Except when we're chillin' supping coffee and watchin' the world go by!
  6. Awww - and whilst I am at it, my good friend and ex-band mate, Matt Goom played with Glenn for the last three years or so - here's some pics, doing what he does best! http://www.glennhughes.com/tourpix_liveinbrazil2009.html
  7. The one pictured here? http://www.glennhughes.com/tourpix_gh_uktour_092410.html
  8. David Bailey was in The Who?
  9. Muse aside, these amps sound awesome!! and yes, they really DO go loud without a great deal of signs of giving in vs other '200W' heads.
  10. Jon Shuker in Sheffield is a Delano distributor and because he one of the finest Luthiers out there (and designs his own preamps) - he really knows his pickups too. http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk
  11.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdTPiGn4W8o...feature=related I only just noticed the hair bobble she uses in most the clips as a sort of mute/damper and capo combined.Anyone else do that? I have'nt.
Yep, all the time on my 6 & 7 strings. Really handy for tapping and tricky chordal parts where it can help to keep the parts sounding leaner and not having to worry about ringing out strings. It's as handy as a dampener pedal on a piano.
  12.
I'm pretty sure they're all standard 9v barrell type plugs with negative ground so a standard supply should work. Nothing out of the ordinary that might use 18v or reverse polarity.
Yup agree with you there - So a standard 9V DC PSU that has the capacity to handle the current drain of all the pedals and one of those 'daisy chain' cables you can get from Maplin would be fine.
  13.
Here's a piccie HTH, Ian
Looks just what I need Ian! - I'll take it! - Lemme drop you a PM
  14. "Funk Roots". Sounded good to me - and I a very quick google didn't show up anything specific.
  15.
Dust comes free!
Hey ya mate! Thanks so much for posting a pic, It looks like this tray will be too deep for me specifically at 365mm. I can go to 300mm max - but I guess someone with a full depth rack case will be fine with. Again, cheers, I appreciate it - but I think Bottle's tray will be right for my gear.

    Avi audio to mp3

I found a freebie program on the net to do exactly that - uninspiringly called 'AVItoMP3' - I'm not sure if there was a mac version though. Failing that, you could import the AVI in to Reaper and then export the track to MP3 that way - but would require more work than a simple app. - As it happens, I was using YouTube videos to make audio loops!
  17.
Cool! Just been out and retrieved said shelf - here are the measurements: front-to-back total depth = 255mm, tray size = 230mm x 440mm, white powder-coated steel, 2U. Piccies up tomorrow once I've got them off of my phone. HTH, Ian
Yarrrrrp! That's sounding good so far! It's meeting the size requirements for sure! Wow, so many offers! Which to choose! - Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!
  18. Hey chap - well - to be honest, any shelf that is the right size etc and doesnt cost stupid prices like the TC one is a serious contender to be honest! Pictures and measurements from anyone who has shelves available will be very much appreciated!
  19.
Looking to get power supplies for some pedals, do Boss, Digitech Fender pedals all use the same connector to pedal, was going to get one of those Boss power supplies off ebay with 6 outputs Would it work?
Hey Bero, you might need to be a bit more specific - as one or two pedals *do* use a different type of power supply than the standard Boss AC>DC adaptor. For example, my Digitech Looper requires an AC>AC type instead. If you list what you have, we'll be able to advise better
  20.
It's all cos I'm detuned A,D,A,D,G really. I'm struggling to get the lows out at the moment so that's what the man suggested! I'm open to any other ideas if you have any? Also I don't wanna lug around a wall of death everywhere!!!
I'm assuming that Alex has recommended his 'Big One' and a hefty power amp to drive it? Certainly on paper (as I haven't had the opportunity to hear Ale's cabs yet) - it looks like a system that can deliver and I trust Alex's judgement as he knows his sh*t if you pardon the expression. One of my Shuker basses is designed to tune down to low F# and I can appreciate the issues you may be having getting those tunings to be heard. As you have pointed out too - I don't relish the thought of carrying around a dinosaur sized (and designed in the same time period) rig.
  21. Although not what I was thinking about at first - but I did stumble on a resource for the Muff'n schematic to compare against the afore mentioned Alembic and Trace schems. I have to say I am pretty enamoured with the idea of the single valve Hartke version though - I haven't seen a diagram for that one so can't really comment further. http://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&p=43256
  22. Hmmm! Interesting this post should arise - as I was just thinking the other day how nice it would be if Hartke put their LH amplifier preamps in a box and sold it seperately. It's just a killer preamp - so simple and great sounding. If a FET / IC version could do / sound the same it'd be an absolute winner in any set up. Especially those who want a simple preamp to drive a power amp / PA via the DI output. Love mine! That's got the cogs turning!
  23.
I liked the look of the Hartke Kilo, whatever happened to it ?
Larry suggested back in June time they were expecting it out in August - but I think it hasn't made it out yet.
  24.
I have been chatting to/hassling Alex at Barefaced and after he very kindly and patiently guided me through what I need to get for the sounds I want, it transpires that I will be needing a bigger boat as it were(jaws reference) So I'm wondering what 1k amp heads I should be looking at, any help or suggestions would be appreciated. The reason for all this craving for power is my drop tuning of a five string to get the brown notes out!
Hey Meenie! Did Alex suggest the Hartke LH1000? I reckon it's the bargain of the century - even more so if you grab one second hand.
  25. It's a shame you are in Italy as I could find a use for a 10" and the 5" cone - but I think shipping for the items would be prohibitive for my cost saving project.
