1. I didn't get a chance to take a closer look at the gear on the TC stand at BassDay. Did anyone pickup any fliers or take pictures? I was intrigued to find out what the 3u TC amp was there. Anyone know?
 2.
Yeah, who was that girl slapping on the Shuker stand...?
Ahh Hannah! Yes, fellow Shuker artsist and a great player and a really nice person! - She know's her gear that's for sure. I missed her using her MIDI set up - as I was...grrrr..sat in traffic till about 1pm!!
 3.
The Pennfab ebay a/c seems to be run by the same peeps as stagebox.com website who don't seem to list any Penn stuff at all which seems a bit strange. I've just found http://www.proaudiostash.co.uk, so I can give them a shout as well - they seem to have at least the corners & handles, but only list a few different connector dishes - looks like I need a D023K to take neutrik 'D-series' speakon & jack connectors
I've bought from ProAudioStash in the past, good prices and service received!
 4. Hey everyone! - I had a great time yesterday! - Though I didn't *really* get that much of a chance to wander round the other stands! I demo'd on the SHuker stand all day - well - I think I spent most of the day talking about Jon's basses, more than playing them - but ot was great to have lots of people come up to give Jon's basses (including my two) a whirl. I did spot a few familiar looking faces in the crowd. I only wish I had a big sign saying "Hi, It's Dood from Bascchat here" in the effort to be able to put some more faces to names here on the forum. I met a few of you, but..oh..well, maybe next time! Had fun up on the Rotosound stand too, but have to agree, I was 'bassed out' by the early evening as there were a couple of really.. ehem 'loud' stands nearby! - I was doing some nice dynamic pieces to show off a more subtle side to playing bass, but unfortunately, I was smothered by 'shed building' as I like to call it! So, I didn't get to have a huge nose at other gear. but had lots of fun!
 5.
if you look in he effects forum there was a discussion on it. I bought a LIne 6 floor pod xt thingy, great except i found myself using 3 things the tuner the SVT model and the chorus sometimes. After looking at very expensive pedals on the net i found a schematic for something and thought 'i could make that' so i was after some kinda overdrive, or svt, fender front end build. looked round and liked the sound of what the sft could do, found a schematic and veroboard layout from a backwardly engineered one. It's not a million miles away from the 'flipster' project and close to a svt with transistors instead of vaulves. It shares a enclosure with a small clone clone and a sovtek big muff clone, its pretty good, except i think i put a liner pot on the gain instead of the log pot... oops. PM me if you want and ill find the link to the schematic/vero layout
Thanks Luke! I appreciate it. I'll go look for the thread and will PM you shortly!
 6.
google tuxguitar
A brilliant and free alternative to guitar pro! Very good too - thank you to the person who recommended it to me!
 7.
Busy time eh? I'll ask around although some idea of budget would be ideal.
Well, the budget would be simple to work out really. Much like the other Bass Bashes that have run - It has been a case of charging say a tenner on the door and the 'hire' gets taken out of the kitty and the rest of the money goes to a charity of choice, which I think is a great idea. Then it's just down to getting enough people to come to make it a worthwhile do - Which as far as I can tell, has never been a problem!!! Cambridge to me seems like a good place to do the bash - I really don't mind the hour trip down the road.. especially in comparison to the rather gruelling trip to Bass Day over in Manchester! 3.5hrs more like!
 8.
caitlinbread sft is based on an ampeg preamp isn't it? it's pretty good, well my homemade version is
Actually, tell me more about your homemade SFT!?
 9. Sorry guys, I've been totally bogged down with other stuff this month.
 10. Kev's BlueTube pedal for sale has the Fender Tone stack in it.
 11.
caitlinbread sft is based on an ampeg preamp isn't it? it's pretty good, well my homemade version is
I have no idea! really? (I mean, the 'based on' - not your pedal! lol!)
 12. Gotta say though, I am SO impressed with the guys going at it with the DIY over on TalkBass - in much the same way as I am impressed with Alex Claber's work and Max at sfx on this very forum. I really couldn't criticise the looks - because if I tried to build a cab - it'd probably end up looking like a shoe box! Well.. not entirely true - I did build a couple of cabinets a long while ago.. but yeah - you get my point! I'd still love to have a go at building one of GreenBoy's 1515/66 cabs though ) What a beast! Anyway, I guess the short of it, is that I also like the fact that Bass Players have taken it in to their own habds to build cabinets that *actually* produce the goods efficiently - and the more people going the DIY route can only give us more options to play with...oh..and...errrrr... more boughts of GAS that we can't afford to deal with!!!!!!
 13. I'm gonna get reading the thread to find out more. I think my preference before I start looking any closer would be a plain black grill like Epifani cabinets, so it looks almost stealthed - or something sexy like the Hartke Hydrive cabs. Ok.. will be back later!
 14.
Oh, you little beauty! That's the first one I've seen that allows you to freely select the pattern length. 19/16, here I come!
That's ace! I love it actually!
 15. If you fancy making your own simple loops, then try a 'looper' pedal! (ok, there's a cost involved). I use the Digitech JamMan that does allow you to record or 'install' drum loops on it. Or, you can just make your own with a microphone or by say, slapping away on the instrument. I'm going to do a video soon with some looping examples but here's the first one I grabbed off the Choob by someone else.. My JamMan allows me to record to a click I can set up - but I usually use the bass to make up some interesting drum sounds by tapping pickups or scraping the strings. Once the loop is playing I can practice bass lines, solos or theory ideas like modes, for example.
 16. If you want to make use of the additional power with a second cabinet then do this:- (Or indeed just to be able to use both amplifiers at once for a more powerful rig) Bass > RH450 Input RH450 Output > speaker cabinet ONE then RH450 line driver out (or effects send) > LM2 input LM2 output > speaker cabinet TWO **set the LM2 EQ to the 'flat' setting as the RH450 will provide you with your programmeable EQ.** OR! If you like a bit of stereo, like I do sometimes, try this with a stereo chorus pedal - OOOH lush sounding! Bass > RH450 Input RH450 effect send > Chorus input Chorus output A> RH450 effect return RH450 Output > speaker cabinet ONE then Chorus Output B > LM2 input LM2 output > speaker cabinet TWO Switch on and do your best Pino Pallodino / Peter Hook / Mark King impressions! **set the LM2 EQ to the 'flat' setting as the RH450 will provide you with your programmeable EQ.** The reason I have suggested connecting to the LM2 input instead of the LM2 effects loop, is that I believe the effects loop for the LM2 appears after the gain control and before the EQ in the preamp and thus won't make much difference where you connect to - other than the addition of a gain control when you plug in to the front of the LM2 head. You won't be able to bypass the EQ and thus my reasoning for starting with all the controls set to *no* boost or cut.
 17. Brilliant advert, I did laugh out loud!
 18. Ok, recorded yesterday to commemorate 10 years anniversary of an album release I played on... LickLibrary intro video... This track, again from the album... Finally, this was recorded in 2007 and I never got round to rerecording it! I'm in the process of doing some more video bits and bobs, so I'll pop those on here when I upload them.
 19.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkNDKsjSdsk...feature=related Nice playing, nice song writing, nice singing. Very cool.
Oooh, I like that lil major chord move at 1:11 - it's stuff like that in songs that I really like. The little changes that pull the ear a bit. Right.. [play] off to listen to the rest now..
 20. Ha ha!! yeah, like that a lot!
 21.
The thing that irritates me is the title. HD. What does that even mean in relation to this unit?!! Unless they mean the 3 inch screen on it is in HD. Next thing you know it'll be download the expandanable model pack in 3D and get a free copy of Clash of the Titans to watch on your 3D fx unit. Marketing piddle. If the thing is good, then that's great, but don't try and pretend it's a TV. It's a modeling fx unit which may or may not be fantastic. Do we need 3D goggles?
Ha ha ha!!! Yes, I agree! - Now, I can quite believe that with the acceleration of technology that the NEW Pods sound better/feel better than previous models. It's the same as computers and laptops getting faster, so they can number crunch and do more *stuff* - The marketing though? Hmmm, I guess it's trying to catch people with those buzz words of the moment. I'm about to build the new HD iTone Cloud technology Neo Bass cabinets, matching amps and pickups. This new rig will make you sound, feel and even look like your heros.
 22.
Well having read about them it does have dual signal paths or at least 2 amps you can choose to use, it also has flexible fx chains like the M13 and all the fx of the M13 assuming you get the HD500, there are 10 lost each time you go down a model. Personally I got the email about these and though wow awesome, etc etc but then I checked the amp models and it's designed for guitarists, you may be able to get an acceptable bass tone out of it but I doubt it. I bet the tuner still only goes to Low B, personally I'll be sticking with my M13
Yes, I can foresee the Bass amps and effects coming from downloadeable 'model packs' and thus will require extra spendage maybe.
 23. Would it be right to say that Line 6 gear really does seem to suffer from the Marmite effect?
 24.
Guitar amps can't make the whump though, especially if driven, they just don't have the power and the drive compresses everything. Running a bass amp into a guitar cab is the problem.
I agree. If a guitar speaker fails connected to a guitar amp - It's no more likely that it gave way due to a bass attached to it than if it were a guitar attached.
 25. It's probably, despite the DBS systems being awesome - They are just out of fashion? For example - they don't get discussed much even of a busy Bass forum.
