Here's all the gubbins and specifications: http://www.edenamps....s/wt/WT550.html The WT550 World Tour amplifier features Switchable compression, 5-way semi-parametric tone control, enhance control, mono pre & stereo post effects loops & input pad. The WT550 is the perfect combination of features and power to give any bass player a solid tool to achieve great tone and at volumes capable of handling stages with its 500W of power and tonal clarity. COMES BOXED: With rack mounting kit, manual and power lead, all ready to go. I recently had this amplifier serviced by the official agent following what turned out to be a dry joint on the input gain control as well as getting the amplifier a once to boot. This was done free of charge under the two year warranty of which there is still the best part of a year left to go. This is a superb amplifier that I wanted mainly because of the parametric EQ to play with but I no longer need extra toys in my room, so this one is on the way out to make room for.. oh wait, I might buy a bass... The Eden WT550 is certainly an antidote to any of the 'weedy sounding' D Class heads that get discussed on BC. Ok, not all D Class heads, but this amplifier does certainly deliver note girth and can happily power cabinets down to 2 Ohms with an RMS output of 750W. Send me a message as soon as!

Manual and description here: http://www.ampeg.com...als/svp-bsp.pdf £285 COLLECTED RARE Dual channel bass preamplifier that allows either a clean valve channel on it's own or a high gain distortion sound on it's own or a mixture of both for a massive fat distorted bass sound. It has a boost gain stage as well taking you from a light crunch to almost endless sustain. The channels are foot switchable and there is an effects loop for each channel as well as the ability to send each output to separate amplifiers or just the one. I've upgraded the valve to a JJ premium model that is in my opinion an improvement in tone. I've always had this preamp racked up and it is in extremely good condition for it's age. There's a couple of scratches on top where it has been slid out of a rack and a little rack rash around the mounting screw holes but both are completely hidden when rack mounted. Racked picture to follow shortly.. Price includes UK insured shipping.

I've had Hartke gear for well over 15 years - various models from the range throughout my musical career and hand on heart have never had any quality related problems. I love the aluminium cones that have a low end punch and top end zing to them. Not brash or brittle they cut through the mix and the HA amps have always been a firm favourite. For the LH heads to come along and be such great heads too is surely testament to a brand that doesn't just churn out variants of the same ole same ole. It's sad to have to say on such a day as this but the Hydrive speakers (half paper, half aluminium cone) were actually an epiphany that Larry and team had whilst watching Jack Bruce on stage who, at Madison Square Gardens favoured a bass rig that contained both paper coned Hartke cabinets and Aluminium counterparts. Great brand and absolutely A1 support in the Uk by the Hartke distributor.

I think the LH preamp attached to a superb compact power amplifier would be amazing! I suggested the idea to Larry soon after the LH series came out. I forget who said it on BC but we joked that my signature amp would be called the LH5000S - very powerful and of course Stereo!! Anyway, my other suggestion would be to use the much loved Hartke Attack pedal as a basis for a lightweight amplifier because it already has a great sound along with Hartke's most useful features and DI capabilities. Who knows what Larry has up his sleeves but I agree with the above, Hartke had maintained a consistency in product quality - I suspect the delay in delivering a lightweight solution is in not wasting time with the same modules everyone else is using. Some of which are said to lack the weight and girth of note delivery even though they are very loud!

Stop it!!!! I can't keep adding to my GAS list! - The videos (including the one you sent me) are a pretty strong argument for having one!!! It's a distortion I really like a great deal.

Hi! Ahhh yes Andy, this is the super chord monster! A very slick bass to play and yeah really comfortable. FlippyFloop, thank you! I can tell you that it is just 4.6Kg and the balance of the instrument a very good, especially on strap owing to that upper horn. My jazz bass special is just 4Kg which is a light bass for sure, so this compares nicely considering. Oh and those are Gotoh tuners as standard and I will leave the Schaller strap lock buttons on too. -

I want another Dingwall! There, I said it. I need to get a bass together for some serious drop tuning and I can't at this time look at my usual custom build. So, I am putting up my Ibanez GVB for sale, but I need to make very clear what I am offering and why the price is a bit on the low side! The bass, as you'll see in the pictures below originally had this spec: I then upgraded the pickups and electronics to Delano Soapbars which sounded great, but not really my thing. I installed an East SP preamp too which is just a superb piece of kit. I still managed to keep it completely stock looking like the above. This is just an image I grabbed off the web. So, that's where things changed! I had a plan based on the Dingwall 5/3 models to install three pickups instead of just two. I bought three EMG 40DC pickups and had a local professional luthier rout out the section of wood between the two pickups. The rout is the same height and depth as the Bartolini P2/ Delano pickups that came out and is very neat and tidy. Next up as you'll see in the pictures, to allow me to move the EMG pickups around, a temporary dark wood 'frame' was installed because the EMG pickups are not as tall as the Bart P2's. This frame is completely removable with no damage should that be required. It allowed me to push all three pickups up away from the bridge so that the pickup closest to the bridge had a bit more low end making it more useable on it's own in my opinion. Although the East circuit will be included with the bass for you to do what ever you wish with, the current harness (which I have installed using quick release connectors, like EMG use) is completely removable without any soldering iron work. It is a passive set of switches, a passive tone control and a master volume. The switches allow for all combinations of pickup configuration. So my plan is this: If you are interested in the bass as is, then that's fine. It sounds superb! However, if you'd prefer the bass returned back to stock as much as possible then I will source a pair of P2 sized pickups, come up with a preamp solution too. (The East circuit I guess!!) Further more I will look at 'filling the gap' between the pickups. I think a good inclusion would be a ramp between the pickups. It won't of course be invisible!! Pictures of my bass as it is at the moment:
A F# string will be lower tension than a low B (or a standard E string). You made actually have to slacken off the truss rod.
Not necessarily - but worth checking. For example, Kalium's 130 gauge tuned to B comes in at 36lbs and the F# string I have (182) comes in at 38.8lbs. The gauge of the string and it's core design matters, but I do agree that the 175 on an F# is a floppy lower tension string than any B.
-
Yes, I spoke to Chris at Kalium about the best gauge to use for my bass and indeed it is a 34" scale. However as those in the know will attest, my 7 string is no ordinary 34"er. The 175 I used for many years and looking back I wish I did this a long time ago. Really is a marked difference in the actual volume and note definition between my old string and these new ones. I would expect that Newtone's 160, which can be custom tailored, is superb but I think I'm am of the converted. The 190 will go on if I decide to leave the bass in that drop E tuning. Interestingly my Dingwall, with it's 37" B string is so far staying in standard tuning. I want to get myself a combustion which will take the drop tunings instead.

Hi all! I have a Gotoh Resolite Tuning Key http://www.g-gotoh.c...p_product=gb350 for a normal right handed bass (top of headstock type) spare. It is completely unused, BUT!! it needs a fresh washer to slip in underneath the key top. You can see what it looks like in the pic below. I have therefore dropped the price for the key and will include shipping too at £20 within the Uk. Additional shipping costs may be incurred for over seas. This key is not cosmo black - according to the link above it is black chrome. All washers and black screw included. edit: I've just linked the image too

I'm just clearing out some odds and ends and have found an unused Elite Strings Nickel 130 gauge and a Warwick DarkLord 175 gauge (useful for tuning down to F sharp below B etc - great for G actually) You can have the 130 for £5 to include postage, the Dark Lord is £12 online, so how about £9 to include postage? The packets are a little crumpled, but the strings have been in a clean dry sealed bag. They look fine!
