  1. My latest Bass Gear Magazine video review has just gone live!! Check out this beautiful Spector #Euro4LT #Bass ! Special thanks to Spector UK, Barnes & Mullins Ltd for letting us loose on this one - it inspired me to write this little tune, “The Spectator”. Hope you like it as much as I loved having the bass over. https://www.bassgearmag.com/bassic-review-spector-euro4-lt-bass/
  2. I video reviewed the Magni 210 - it is indeed essentially a Reidmar combo, for sure. Brilliant sound and does the EBS thing very well. If I were looking for a combo, given that my brand of choice doesn't make one, I'd probably be looking at this as an affordable option.
  3. Cheers BRX, yeah, there's quite a few of us hitting the low tunings. Sometimes I drop to E0 as well. Sorry, that was the question in reference to @StickyDBRmf? I've not read the entire thread.
  4. This. Only the tip of your thumb should be touching the back of the neck. Do not "broom handle" the neck to support it in your hand either. The other "thing" that I see students doing is opening the thumb out and laying it flat, parallel on the back of the neck. This forces the palm in to a position that impedes finger movement on the fretboard.
  5. In case it hasn't been mentioned already: You can open all of your Garageband projects in Logic. You'll have access to all the same effects, loops and channels that you had in GB, but you'll be able to continue adding to the project without having to rebuild anything. Interestingly, sometimes I like to write something in GB so I don't get overwhelmed with "option paralysis", then open the project in Logic when I am ready to do so. A change of scenery isn't necessarily a bad thing at times!
  6. Love is in the air, everywhere I look around.
Love is in the air, every sight and every sound.

That brings to a close this dater's update.

You may be right. We had a pair of foxes doing it in the garden this morning.

  7. Hi! Of the 400+ gear review videos I've recorded, no bass has ever had a parallel neck, including the Violin basses. The closest spacing I've worked with so far is 14mm string to string at the bridge. a 6 string bass with a 54mm nut width.
  8. Absolutely stunning. On elf my students has a red one and I've reviewed a 4 LT. I love these things, brilliant basses!
  9. Yes, I’ve used those too. The Q3HD, the Q8, H2n, H4n Pro, they all work well!
  10. I’ve video reviewed this Cort bass and yes, the example I was sent was very good indeed. The current GB models such as the GB64 and GB74JJ are excellent. I’ve a GB75JH here which sounds a lot like a “real” MM too.
  11. Go to the track channel and use the drop down menu shown. You can select a mono input there and what input number is being sent to that track. In my example I have selected Input 1 to record on to Track 1.
  12. John Deacon -tastic! I’d love it! 😍
  13. I’ve used Direct Courier Solutions and they have confirmed in writing that they insure instruments, but with any courier, close attention to packing is necessary. I pack everything like I am expecting it to be thrown out of a second floor window.
  14. Thank you! More thoughts basschatters! I’m interested in hearing them…
  15. It's like normal jazz, but with curly hair-spray-hell hairdos, lots of lycra, air kicks and lots of lights.
  16. Once again with gusto, "2007!" 🤣 Merry Christmas everyone
  17. An old post from 2007 Benny! 14 years has got to be the longest amount of time I have ever seen a Zombie thread revived!
  18. Hi! Yes, I do have two Power Jazz Bass Special basses! I adore them. They are the kinda bass that would have to be prised from my rigor morticed hands, you know? I never really cared for the on-board electronics and thus I stripped the lot out and replaced them in true 80's style with a full active EMG circuit. They sound amazing. Interestingly, they actually both sound different - but lets not start the "tone wood" debate here too lol.. As for the Tri-Lam neck, yeah I never really cared for or bothered to chase up what was actually meant in the somewhat vague marketing literature. Being something not visible, I wondered if they had inserted rods in the neck like many brands do today to "stabilise" them. I've no idea, but these are two basses that I don't think I have ever adjusted the truss rods for since an initial set up, years ago. They are rock solid, the necks are amazing and they have a great sound. Gotoh OEM hardware too, if you can find a good example they will p*** over any modern Mexi - and I like some of those MIM basses too
  19. The GZR is a bit special. Great P style pickup! (I’ve not tried the PJ yet)
  20. P.S. I realise it isn't any help whatsoever, but I sold my first SVT 2 Pro many, many years ago. but... I..errrr... seem to have bought another more recently. It probably won't ever go out to a gig, maybe it will, but it's super nice in my little studio space for recording! Sure, it's overkill, but hey, we might all get hit by an asteroid tomorrow
  21. Think of the volume control like the accelerator on a car. We spend most of our time at the lower speeds. It doesn't do any damage and you've always got the extra should you ever need it
  22. Interestingly, and, you could say coincidentally, Skin covered Hangin' just after the band I played in supported them - and it was a strong track in our own set list. I forget the band, but a similar thing happened with our version of Message In A Bottle. lol. Myke Gray is on my Facebook, he's a hard working so-and-so that's for sure. He deserves to do well. Also known for Jagged Edge and current band Shades Of Gray.
  23. Shame the cost of shipping and VAT on the total is so painful to the wallet; Japan sure do have some nice basses in stock!
