  1. (ok, so other than a very short hidden cameo, the band themselves didn't act in the film)
  2. The Queen movie Bohemian Rhapsody got a massive slating too. It's almost a sign that it will do well when the critics pan 'em.. 48 industry awards in 2019, Box Office Gross $911 million.

    Modes

Having taught students from the ground up many, many times, we've already covered a huge amount of ground even before we get to Modes. I feel there are necessary steps in progressive learning that should be covered and understood before a beginner dives in to something like Modes. (and no, that's not because learning the Modes is hard, by the way!) More often or not, if a student comes to me to tell me about Modes their misunderstanding has come about because of the lack of theory preparation. The very building blocks, as it were. An elementary example would be "I'm playing Aeolian, because this is the Aeolian pattern on the bass."
  4. A friend of mine went in to hospital for an exploratory examination many years ago. He was slightly perturbed when after laying down on the bed the male doctor arrived with a large tube of KY in hand. It was then he learned that KY wasn't just used for one thing... lol
  5. KY is perfect for the job. A funny story: I ran out of the tube that came with my ear plugs and the cheapest suitable lube online ended up being KY, so I ordered a SMALL tube, the emphasis here being on the word SMALL. So imagine my thoughts when a larger than expected box arrived on my doorstep. The tube is so large that even those at the back of the venue could easily see the KY logo!!
  6. I'll look after your 2x12's and keep them warm and safe!! - I'd love to hear my B|Amp through them both! Good lord I bet it sounds delicious with both of those on!
  7. Same ha ha! Although I have a couple of things I could throw in a rack case with it. I still don't need it , but Powersoft... yummy!
  8. I happen to have a set of GZR's for my up and coming build!
  9. Wilkinson WJBL200 - I actually bought a big pile of gold hardware off a chap on FB ages ago as I was planning another P bass build, so I have a set waiting for the donor bass to arrive. Of course, they also come in chrome as well as black.
  10. stunning, stunning, stunning. alas I am financially crippled for many years to come
  11. The Wilkinson midels that look like the Gotoh FB30 are actually not bad at all for the money, better than those things they but on some cheaper Fender models!
  12. Cerberus Guitars ordered a Tron themed top. If you have Facebook , you can see the top here: https://www.facebook.com/tobiascasparwood/posts/2903249199965596
  13. My mate Max is a bit of a resin expert and has been supplying his tops to lots of top guitar brands. He makes all sorts of other products too: https://www.facebook.com/tobiascasparwood https://tobiascaspar.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR1nkHmXSsZeodzBldLhJzq_t8-vNMIn-OrQrtQ2BNe5kW7Xa-xP54w6mBU The methods he has perfected for creating resin products alleviates many of the problems associated with it and understandably his guitar tops look incredibly rich and very clear! Talented chap! Hornets nest: One for Grainger Guitars:
  14. I couldn’t when I was younger either mate!
  15. To buy back all the basses I had to sell when things went Pete Tong in my private life a few years ago. There are some I really miss. Other than that, Jon Shuker and I have this corking bass design ready to go. We've been talking about it for a few years now. I desire it muchly, still. It's going to be insanely good.
  16. Thank you!!!! I really appreciate the feedback. I would love for bass chatters to share my videos as I would like to reach more fellow bassists
  17. I am sure I would have still been enjoying it, but sadly, as a professional gear reviewer, I have to send kit back after I have finished my videos. I really liked the Artist model I reviewed though, way better than the lower spec version.
  18. Buy a leather pick! I was given one as a gift and it works quite well with a couple of twists of the EQ controls to suit. The one I have is large and rather thick, I can't seem to find who made it. A quick google has shown up lots of other options though. Maybe worth buying a few and having a play!
  19. I use plug-ins too. My current favourites for the majority of my sounds are both from Neural DSP. The "Nolly" and "Cory Wong" plug-ins offer a wide range of tones from glassy cleans, strat bite, crunch and metal tones. For me the trick is to emulate the sound of a room / micing up situation to make the plug-in sound more realistic - as I'd been stuck with plug-ins that weren't;t so good in the past.
  20. Absolutely! All of my music gear, including random cases and stands always live indoors.
  21. The thought crossed my mind too, many times!
  22. Probably against common views, I actually really want to try the Spector LT Darkglass preamp in my two band bass here. I like the idea of the high centre for the bass frequency and that I wouldn't have to drill a third hole for the mids, that I rarely touch anyway!
  23. I'll share my review video here for those who want to hear the LT in action. One of my students has an Aguilar loaded LX and we've compared the two. When I get a mo, if anyone is interested I'll post something. Just a quick note to say that, as I understand it, the capsule in the LT isn't the standard Darkglass version, its a Spector custom version with different EQ centres, much more in keeping with what we're used to from Spector. I really like it, it comes across as more punchy in the lows than the pillowy Tonepump. (Neither description should be taken as a negative, they're just different). https://www.bassgearmag.com/bassic-review-spector-euro4-lt-bass/
