  1. I went out last night for a rehearsal with a new band after a bit of a break from playing. Things in the last year or so really knocked my confidence on top of covid and a whole host of woes. So, it felt a bit like a rather tall horse to try to get back on. I did as much homework as I could and was even a bit nervy walking in for the first time. It went really well and the whole band (two new members added on the same day) gelled really well, like-minded had a great vibe in the room and I'm playing stuff that I've never really covered before. It felt rather liberating! I took both of my MIJ Fenders with me and the Berg' stack. Sounded absolutely brilliant - and the first time I'll be gigging on just 4 strings for .. I dunno! 25 years?? It felt good.
  2. I've been watching the posts explode recently about this one. I've not installed it yet, but I do have ToneX, the Neural DSP QC on my desk too (review kit) so it'd be interesting to see what it can do for us bassists as well! I'll report back when I get time to add this one to the test bench.
  3. I stupidly sold this bass when I was 18 though. Last known owner is/was a studio in Suffolk, But I don't know which and I have no way of finding out. This one was an absolute peach and I made a big moral mistake selling it.
  4. and this lovely machine.
  5. Most 100000% this one. I hated being forced to sell this

  9. Yes! The SL and SLS are brilliant. I video reviewed both in the past with matching cabs / combo and it makes sense with the on board effects. Great clean sound and a whole bunch of useful facilities. Right now I could do with effects on board!
  10. GAS versus TGS! I think you’ve just coined a new phrase!
  11. Recent years, painful sadly, has forced me to part with some really beautiful basses. Ones that as a kid I’d never thought I’d ever be able to own. It still feels odd seeing them in the hands of other players as they were rather identifiable! What I have left with is a few instruments that I just can’t bear to part with. No, I didn’t want to sell the other but I made my peace begrudgingly. I took one of my keepers out to a rehearsal for a new band last night. It just brought a huge amount of warmth and satisfaction. So glad I own it, if that makes sense? GAS is still obsessional with me and, well, my job doesn’t help - you should see what is sat in my studio right now! Currently a one-off premium bass. I’m ok knowing that what I have now is the result of a long journey! hmmmm, I still want a really nice fretless though… and a musicman style bass.. and.. oh god… 🤣😂
  12. Thank you all, yes, I don't need another interface, the one I have is brilliant. I just want to make use of the four line level inputs for instrument level (hi-z) or Mics with phantom power. Just trying to find the best way to do that. I'd buy another interface, but I haven't sold the Focusrite Clarett 2Pre I'm giving away on BC yet!
  13. I’m dumbfounded that these are still here. £650 as a special treat for you all, which is just bonkers! Ya can’t give away stuff these days 🤣😂 I’ve had them out to test and they sound amazing. Not even broken in yet.
  14. Hey folks! I have four line inputs on the back of my Interface and, whilst I would love to insert say an ADAT based preamp in via the optical connections, I was wondering, oh awesome people of BassChat if you have any suggestions for budget preamps that have slipped under the radar. Two channel minimum, four is fine. Not looking for loads of features but combo inputs for XLR and instrument (Hi-Z) could/would be good as well as phantom power. The secondhand market is probably going to be the place to go and I'll be scouring the net when I have time.
  15. Super Pre arrived yesterday!
  16. How do you mean? The B2 Four and B6 both have Guitar Lab software for Mac and Windows and Windows audio drivers. I see that the hardware is compatible with IOS software such as mobile DAWs but no support for Android, which is understandable because..well, audio on Android, need say no more lol!
  17. TC SpectraComp bricked:

Failed to update firmware two times, third time lights out. I now have a very small door stop.

      That's pretty poor.

I can't believe (well I can!) that they don't have a failsafe/revert to factory option.

I have three TC Polytunes, all of them play up every now and again.  I leave them for a bit use a different one, then a couple of months later come back to the faulty one, and it works!

I also have a Spectradrive that still works as an EQ/Pre-DI but the tone prints won't load.

I won't buy anymore TC Electronic pedals

  18. Mac users will love ROOM by : https://gingeraudio.com Amongst other features it allows you to run plugins at the end of the signal path outside of a DAW. For example room correction software or EQ you like to add to taste rather than part of the signal path within the DAW.
  19. Rabbit hole danger.. the Pure Vintage 63 is of interest!
  20. Thank you, that's interesting. My 76 P bass definitely has something 'chewy' going on in the lows with a real sweetness to the very top end. Hard to explain but my P bass with a GZR P in it seems to have a spike in the top end in comparison.
  21. There's also a brand new B2 (like the B6) that has just been announced, though not available yet. I love the TC pedals, the Zooms are all great for their respective price points. As the dollar starts to rise, of course we are in to Line 6 Helix territory starting with the Stomp pedal that is superb as well. I've not tried the Boss pedals yet and brands such as Mooer, Donner and Nux appear to be bringing a few DSP pedals to market as well.
  22. Thank you for posting, I'v listened to this one a few times on big ole monitors. The differences with this set up are very subtle, I'd love to hear the dry stems minus the drums, but this does kinda suggest that in the mix there's less to worry about!
