It's all smiles and party here tonight... wow :/ The OP probably wishes they'd never asked now...

The neck and body aren't from the same bass. The neck is an 80's and yes an RI version, not an early original. The pick ups, scratch plate and knobs aren't original and it has had it's original finish removed.

So here it is, a wonderful bass guitar that I stupidly let go over 20 years ago. Just last week I was having a bit of a window shop and couldn't quite believe my eyes as I appeared to be looking at my old bass. I messaged the seller and we ended up having a really good conversation on the 'phone about the bass and sure enough the details of the instrument and it's history matched up perfectly. I've a good knowledge of the instrument so have a very good idea of it's true value, but of course as I'm not the owner of it and as much as I would dearly like to be, that's not something I wanted to get involved in. As I watch the ebay auction for the last hours I can't help feel just a little bit sad to see it but I won't get a chance to play, see or even own it again. I hope it's in great shape and the new owner gets pleasure from it, but I guess this is a farewell. I've not used this unit but if you can find one of the now discontinued Alesis DEQ rack EQ units I think you'll be impressed. I use the half rack version that I think is known as the 224 but there's also a full rack version with RTAS on board too. They are programmeable allowing you to save separate curves for left and right channels. Mine is a 24 band. The full rack versions I think have MIDI implementation too. Oh and they are dirt cheap secondhand which is a good thing.

It's one of those phrases like 'the proof is in the pudding' that I seem to hear every now and then. Rather, 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'. Similarly things that are described as being as 'smooth as a hot knife through butter' maybe wrongly worded as 'plays like butter'. The first of each doesn't really make sense!

The definition of anguish? Seeing your long lost bass of 25 years almost unbelievably re-appearing but on eBay and the feeling that you might not be the new owner :/

I owned a Status Energy 6 - an all-wood construction rather than graphite. Great warm sound with lots of clarity as I remember. The bottom end was something to behold too. Stupidly, I sold it!

I suspect that personal taste will come in to play when it comes to that decision! My personal tastes had me very impressed with the Nathan East BBNE2 model.

Honiton is a bit of a way for me to come but yes I'd love to hear it in action! - I've sold my grannies, kidneys, arm and leg - not sure what's left!!

At this rate I'm gonna need a couple of grand to cover the cost of the purchases I need in my life right now! This is just one such item ha!
