Ahhh yes!!!! I've reviewed one myself - loved it! Great fretless for the money and I'd add one to my stable if I didnt want so many other things first!

Sorry folks, we've had some family stuff to sort out so apologies for the delays in getting to you. I took the cabinet (and a large portion of my own gear too) to a rehearsal studio last night for some fun and games. I can quickly reply to the question above first before I dive in and talk some more about the cabinet. No, there didn't seem to be a great difference in tone out front of the cabinet on either side. It is pretty much a square-ish box anyway and the port positioning doesn't affect the orientation. I tired to take some photographs for you all but I am afraid that the studio 'mood lighting' really didn't help. I didn't have a 1x12 as a comparison cabinet, no. That said, I have had lots of experience with a wide range of 12's on the market. I'll be back soon with some information.
Thanks so much for doing this Dan, the maths and physics is easy but there's no substitute for the ears and experience of someone who has tried a lot of gear and played a lot of bass. Constructive criticism is welcome. Here's hoping you like it. Fingers crossed
Awww! Thank you for inviting me. It's great to be part of basschat and there's nothing I like more than bass gear! Usually, it's a case of just reading about other BCer's projects with great interest, but on this occasion I get to see and hear in the flesh too. I've been very lucky to have owned, played or reviewed a massive range of equipment and I relish the technical details too and if I can offer just a little bit of input or experience, then honestly, the pleasure is all mine! I actually can't wait to fire her up for a listen!
More news, one of the cabs is to be reviewed by Dan Veall, bass reviewer of Interactive Guitar Magazine http://www.iguitarma...roducttype=Bass and of course Dood of this parish. At the present the Cab is about to wing it's way to Dan, or it will be once UPS collect it. It'll be great to have a professional and independent opinion of the cab and I'd like to thank Dan for taking the time to do this.
A nice lil box has arrived on my doorstep!!!

Check out the Radial BassBone products that cater for both electric and acoustic basses. Very good and seem to cover all the areas you are 'tweaking' in a one box solution.
reaper is excellent, i have switched from cubase and use reaper exclusively now, its no frills look means i rely on my ear rather than visuals, as such my results are so much better
Yes! I've tracked more than one album using Reaper - It's a great DAW that I find so incredibly user friendly. Does exactly what I want and when I want it. Oh and it's bonkers that it can even be installed on a USB stick for PC users. - On occasion I sent a project and the program itself on a stick for someone to check out - they didnt even need to install it! he he!

Yeah, it's really good!

I'm surrounded by touring or 'tour grade' musicians. Most also have a day job, which if they are lucky is also music related. I am one of those.

I love Reaper, it's such a good application. For amplifier sims I very strongly recommend all the products from Positive Grid, including BIAS and BIAS FX for desktop. Absolutely stunning! The latter enables dual parallel signal path configuration using different amp and cab configurations as well as a range of really good effect combinations.

Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
Does anyone know if the receiver will play ball with my gig rig power supply?
Gig Rig can certainly delivery more than enough current. You'd either have to set the polarity via gig rig and it's accessories or using the polarity changer that Chris has mentioned earlier. I really can't see that there would be a problem at all in that case. -
I'm really hoping that most people don't think it's a big deal (we've sold 30 sets so far with no complaints) and that the polarity reverser cable will make it a "non-issue"?
I don't think it's a big deal at all and actually, being from an electronics background myself (albeit trained a while ago now) I could see the benefit of a centre +ve. Indeed my own guitar related projects were all wired that way. I took my system out last night and chained up all sorts of effects and distortion sounds and compression. We ran it in a studio practice room with all the usual strip lighting etc and found the wireless performed very well. I had the odd flicker of the red LEDs that tell you how much interference is being picked up (so virtually none then) and enjoyed a nice clear bass sound all evening. Battery life is very good. I left the unit on all night (3 hours) plus the hours I have been messing around with it at home. Just one LED of the 'fuel gauge' has extinguished, meaning there's plenty of juice still left. There's only one thing I have found that isn't a deal breaker at all - it's just a trade off. The receiver is so small and light (big plus) that actually when I use a long lead plugged in to it, the lead is heavy enough to pull it off the amp top! heh! No problem, I looped the cable either under the amp or through the cabinet top mounted handle. Easy! I will get an adaptor eventually to strap mount the transmitter, simply because the back end of my bass *is* a bit of an odd shape. All in all, very little to fault for a plug-and-play system. -
How many basses have you bought off the Basschat marketplace?
Dood replied to Highfox's topic in Bass Guitars
Not many basses but I shudder to think how many amps, cabs and effects I've had from BassChat! -

I took mine out to one of my lessons tonight. I let my student loose on it for a good thrash and it was very good indeed. He loved it! We did find that unfortunately it wouldn't fit his Ibanez SR as the folding Jack is too big for the front situated sunken socket hole. I think the system is cool! -
According to the readers of BassChat it's a very very good bass to own! Congrats on the new bass day!

Daddario Prosteels/Flexsteels... difference?
Dood replied to Greg.Bassman's topic in Accessories and Misc
Hi all. Cheers for the feedback. Much appreciated! Andrew (D'addario UK) contacted me personally to explain a little more about the string. He thinks that they will perfect for my playing. Proof is in the tasting though, will let you all know how I get on once my Flex's arrive! Greg.
Andrew is a top chap! -
Who's the finest luthier in all of...um....luthiery?
Dood replied to Funky Dunky's topic in Bass Guitars
I've already had mine made, so I guess I'll just say it again - Jon Shuker of ShukerGuitars.co.uk The guy is just an incredible force to be reckoned with - and still way under charges for his work! Sheldon Dingwall is right up the top of my list too. I like his ethos and ideas about bass design. -
Yes, it is safe to leave the batteries in. Discharge in the off state is <10 microamps so the batteries will stay good like that for years.
Brilliant! That's great news! -
Wow!!! Yes! Love it! Now I'm inspired to have a maple board put on my Fender! Jon is an incredible luthier, one of the very best and his work is always top notch. I agree, the maple board really sets off nicely against the body finish! Yummy!

Chris - is it safe to leave the batteries in the transmitter? Will discharge be negligible? Just a question! -

My Dingwall AB1 with it's sexy curves does mean that it suffers in the same way as the Jazz pictured where there is little surface for the bug to attach to. I'll probably try the adapter approach too.
