1. I'd start with loose components too. The front grill is usually a menace - you could remove it completely to check that and if the rattles carry on without it, at least you'l be ready to look for the next loose component inside.
2. Brilliant amp! Not sure what possessed me to sell it but pleased to see its still delivering the goods!! I'd be inclined to add more speakers - maybe a BF 1x12 to sit on top which will also give you a flexible modular rig.
3. I have done exactly the same thing but with a set of OEM tuning keys and now have a set of reverse tuning GB640's on board. I have to say, that I didn't realise it was such a little difference in numbers - I expected the 100g to be a lot more. I have to say though, it does feel noticeable on this bass, but even if it didn't, you'll thank yourself just for the feel of those GB keys! So smooth, no rattles, to slippage.
4.
Alternatively is the full range side marked in some way so that you can have this one higher up?
It's the one on the left. (Which would put it at the top if you sat the cabinet on it's feet, stood vertically)
5. ahhh! Found it - http://plectrum.ch/product/the-original-mega-anvil-clear-acrylic
6. Another option FinnDave, is to go custom! We have custom basses - but did you know that you can also have plectrums made too? Patrick hufschmid of http://www.hufschmidguitars.com was contacted by a guitarist who had difficulties holding plectrums too, so he made a pick that had a really large grip area but small playing point. Since seeing that post on Instagram, I've been seeings some really tasty plectrums appear on my feed, as you'll see here: Maybe drop him a line and see what can be done for you? http://plectrum.ch/products - I mean, if a normal thumb pick is the wrong angle, then coming up with a solution to suit you perfectly? I really like that idea. I like solving and creating things! Oh and you'll be the envy of the rest of us if you end up with something similar to the offerings on that website!! Good luck, I hope that you end up creating something that will inspire (and help) others too!
7. All of your valve clean / grit / distortion needs in one single rack, foot switchable? No need for blend pedals and effects loops! Can't believe this is still here!
8. Smooth transaction, great communications! Thanks Anth! Pleasure
9. 'Do' take it to a pro! That's way too nice to risk. If you are in London W1, I think your nearest 'pro' is The Bass Gallery. A lovely 'wet look' glassy lacquer on that will look very cool I think!
10.
Never use the bridge. I only ever use neck or neck/middle positions.
Yes, same here! Maybe the bridge pickup on mine is a bit pants... actually, compared to my other guitars, the bridge pickup is pants - but the other settings do a rather good Gilmour/Marvin/Knopfler vibe through the right kit.
11. I'll just leave this here... some really funny stories http://www.419eater.com/
12. Will have a think about trades, but for now, bump for some super kit!
13. Just waiting for the new tuning keys to arrive. All parts as new!
14.
I'll have to check that out, I use the bass drive effect for a bit of overdrive, it certainly adds bottom end
The BDDI does have a very steep EQ characteristic, both in boosting and cutting frequencies.
15.
I'll have to check that out, I use the bass drive effect for a bit of overdrive, it certainly adds bottom end
I've been trying to find a response curve of an actual BDDI but haven't been successful yet, but according to the details I have been able to find, you EQ centres are different. But what I tried to say, for the benefit of JTUK really, is that for example, if you had a pedal that had a steep cut at 800hz (Lets say -10dB) - by boosting that frequency elsewhere (say +10dB) then you'd go a certain distance to cancel out the effect that the cut was having in the pedal. In the real world where we suffer from phase differences and varying 'Q', it doesn't quite happen perfectly. So not a perfect situation but certainly not a 'weird story'.
16. Interestingly, it looks like your graphic is the mirror image of the EQ curve of the BDDI (which I believe is what the Bass Drive effect emulates) - So in a way both are cancelling each other out! I appreciate in the real world it's not as simple as that, but you know... a bit of that might be going on!
17.
Chat Points. The more posts you make the better the rewards.
Excellent! I'm definitely up for that! Where do I cash mine in?
18. In answer to the question though, I favour a longer scale, but not a light gauge string with a tension that makes pick work feel sharp and positive, but I still want to be able to bend the strings a full tone without a trip to hospital after It's a balancing act between a full tone, clarity and being able to manipulate the strings.
19. Yes, string gauge, type, scale length and materials all make a noticeable difference to tone, unless of course you favour backline that offers the tonal subtleties of a potato. Mashed. With a blanket over it.
20. I guess it depends on what strings! Some companies are able to offer bigger discounts on some brands. That said, there are a number of outlets that offer good prices. I've not needed to use them for a long while as I get mine direct, but I always used to use the likes of StringBusters and Strings Direct for the big brands.
21. Price adjustment £260 for the Ampeg £45 for the Parametric.
22. Zoom still available - haggle me.
23. The Ampeg SVP-BSP is a two channel preamp that offers big fat clean sounds and mild grit to full bore distortion sounds - and should your heart desire it, a flick of a footswitch, a mixture of both. The BSP features an effects loop per channel too. The Parametric EQ has been a little test bed for me and now that i've done what I need, I can let it go. FIVE bands (not just two or three on some amps) - This is a great great great clean bass preamp!! Ampeg £260, Parametric £45 Buy both together for [s]£325 [/s] £295 Message me for details.
24. Now surplus to requirements, All working a treat.
