I want an economical wireless bass thingy.
Dood replied to Dandelion's topic in Accessories and Misc
If you can stretch to this, highly recommended. I have one and love it. The service from Smooth-Hound is first class too.
+1 for superb service from Chris! -
I have used these for years and years, still my favourite though the new ones are slightly thinner leather. Look up on Amazon for the GSL5 Jimmy Page strap, about 3.25" wide. Expensive now, maybe cheaper elsewhere. The belt webbing length adjusted by individual 'webs'.
That's getting on in the right direction yes! Lots of spaces to allow a bit of air flow!
Why only British made. Don't get me wrong I also like the idea of having a British amp but there's so many great foreign amps about.
Not only that, there's plenty of brands from afar that have an absolutely superb Uk distributor/service network that could easily match the 'repairability factor' of those brands manufactured closer to home. Oh..wait... most kit is manufactured in China anyway.
200 quid price drop
Don't feel that's any reflection on the views of the quality of the instrument. I'm practically giving mine away at a stupid price and there's been no interest. I'll be taking it down and offering it elsewhere. I like your upgrades, especially those Big Singles, but alas, I'm selling not buying right now. Good luck, don't let the price get you down - Nothing seems to be selling quickly on BC these days.

Anyone been using a Thunderbolt Audio Interface for any amount of time and would like to comment on performance? I'm thinking about trying one with my Apple products. Any advice or useful information would be received appreciatively!

They don't build to spec? - I mean, if you wanted a "70's A neck" for example?

Hi all, I'm really used to the usual hefty leather bass straps. I prefer and am looking for something at least 4" wide to spread as much of the weight evenly over my shoulder. Now that the summer is here again and we, bass playing fraternity will no doubt be playing all sorts of sweat boxes up and down the country - does anyone have any ideas for bass straps that are made of a breathable material? I know Planet Waves do a webbing strap; I guess something like that. Any ideas? Last gig I ended up with a bit sweat stripe all the way around my shirt using my heavy leather bass strap which has a suede underneath.
Isn't Dood of this parish based in Norfolk? Never had a lesson with him, but I think he's very well respected in that regard.
Thank you for the kind words SammyBee! I've been booked up with other work on top of teaching recently so haven't been able to help I'm afraid. Such it is to be in demand! I appreciate the mention! Dan

Anyone with experience with New TC BH amps and K series cabs?
Dood replied to zawinul's topic in Amps and Cabs
Right then, Head on over to www.iguitarmag.com and read (for free) the current issue which will tell you exactly what I think about the TC Electronic K-Cabs. I've reviewed the BH heads too, back in issue 31 (back issues) -
That's going to be a lot of fun - I like that there's also a headphone output and auxiliary input for headphone amp duties. IEM'ers will be pleased!

Oh Yes!
I'm also looking for tuners for a bass with a Squier-sized headstock. So I believe, like mine, you would need to ream the holes in the body to be a little larger. That said, I did find the Wilkinson spigots fitted neatly into to bushes from the original tuners. The problem I have, though, is the headstock on my bass is the same size as the Squier one - too small to take the Wilkinsons, unless you're prepared to ream off a mm or 2 on each end of the plate. Fenders have bigger headstocks than Squiers. So regrettably the Wilkinsons are really suited to a Fender. What I have found is the Grover Vintage style: https://www.grotro.com/Grover/BASS They're the right size for a smaller headstock. But they sell in the UK for £60. This might be a tiny bit rich for a Squier or similar. Sorry if this is negative to your sale, Dood. But I know you're an honest and open guy. GLWTS

If it's a Squier Vintage Modified P5 (there aren't any Classic Vibe fivers as far as I know), the machine heads are the same as those on the Mexican Standards. Some Squiers have smaller headstocks, but I think the VMs would have the same headstock size as a Fender; I know both my CV and Matt Freeman do. Looking at the 4-string version, there's more than enough room for the Wilkinsons but they'd not fit on the 5-string.
This is really helpful actually, thank you. I genuinely didn't know that Squiers had smaller headstocks! Different shape yes, but smaller I hadn't realised. Come to think of it, I've never actually owned a Squier either! Cheers peeps
I was just searching for other shell pink Jazz basses and came across this which made me laugh....
Ha ha ha ha! That's brilliant!
I don't really get signatures like this. As stated, the MM pickup would make more sense for a Flea signature.... but hey, what do I know? If the stacked pot thing is the selling point, surely you could just get any jazz and stick a new stacked pot loom in? http://www.ebay.co.u...s-/191826768729
That's two volumes and two tones?
Any idea odf the size of the bushes on the Wilkinson tuners? Looking for a set for a 5 String Squire CV P Bass.
I found this which I believe to be the same units: http://www.guitar-parts-depot.com/uploadfiles/2007421213913513.gif

3D Printing pickup covers / handmade pickup covers
Dood replied to Dood's topic in Repairs and Technical
We have facilities for this at the university I teach at, but the workshops are shut until September. If you've found nothing by then, give me a shout.
You're a star! Thanks. I've no idea (yet) about 3D modelling and how I'd go about getting the covers to be exactly as I'd like. In that respect, it's a big ask! -

For those who are that is! I'm entertaining the idea of using one myself which can take instrument level (a gain section) have a really good parametric EQ (4 band hopefully) maybe an option for inserts, possibly a headphone out but most definitely be able to drive a power amp with zero additional noise. I haven't put a huge amount of thought in to this to be honest so maybe there's some features I've not yet thought about. The only thing I have thought about which possibly rules out other options is that I'd like it to be either a 1u rack or smaller! Behringer XR18 will always be on the radar, but a different beast for the moment!
