  1. The vast majority of our songs don't have any vocals, we have bass, guitar, drums and Hammond organ and play funk. There are quite a few modern bands you could cover who do mostly instrumentals like Phat Fred, deep street soul, the bamboos, cooking on three burners, they're all pretty funky and need someone pretty good on the keys! We're also just about to start learning a couple of Volfpeck songs as well, and yep, it's goes down pretty well as it's all good stuff to dance to, no melody to speak of, but melody only ruins a good groove....!!
  2. I'm absolutely loving mine, these are great pedals, it has everything on it I could need, one slight disappointment was that it didn't come with a decent case, however I found perfect case for this on ebay, now I've put some foam in it looks like it could have been made for it, I shall post a picture when I get chance.
  3. Well Yamaha DXR15 arrived today, they are quite large, and very well made, cant wait to gig with these..
  4. I have a 300 watt Markbass CMD121p and a 25 watt Ampeg B-15 Heritage with a whole load of glowing tubes....and these pretty much throw out the same volume, I know the Ampeg has a bigger speaker, but it still makes a bit of a mockery of the watts equals volume argument, there is so much more to it than merely watts, it's what you do with those pesky watts that counts...!
  5. My band have just decided to cover this, the transcription will be most helpful but I think i could be be busy for a while......
  6. You can get pretty much everything need from the status website below. http://www.status-graphite.com/status/frames/index_home.html
  7. I have a similar problem with my 64 Precision, I love playing with TI flats but the low tension of these strings really struggle to pull the required relief, ever with the truss loosened, I'm going to throw on some chromes for a couple of weeks with the truss loosened and let them pull on the old girl a little, then try the TI's again and see what relief there is.
  8. Hi Muppet - I found the guys at Tech 21 very helpful, it will be interesting to see what they say if you contact them as well with the same problem, but yes, you would have thought that would have been sorted before they left the factory. I bought the Raad regulated power supply off Amazon, not a cheap option but its solved the problem. I never realised those switching power supplies caused so much noise....l
  9. Sorted, the problem I had was a switching power supply, I swapped to a raad regulated power supply and problem solved, it's now superbly quite...
  10. Light weight - check Super powerful - check Tiny footprint- check Great sounding - check What's not to like about these, the only combo that I've kept for more than six months....
  11. Is this the tech 21 bass rig? I have the bass rig and it does just what you describe.....
  12. Just picked me of these up from hotrox in Nottingham, not had much time to play with it yet, but it looks as though it's going to be doing everything I want it to, and in such a small and cool little box. Rehersal next week to put it through its paces, gonna use the DI and put it through the pa, I shall report back!
  13. Best way to be sure is pot codes and pick up codes.
  14. Gotoh Res-o-lite vintage style open gear reverse tuners in Nickel finish. I had these on my 64 Precision, but I've now got the old ones working perfectly so these are no longer required. They slotted straight in, no messing around and I didn't even use the bushings or screws which are still unoped in their box. All instructions, screws, allen key etc are present. £70 posted
  15. I'm actually thinking about the Tech 21 fly bass rig, its based on the VTDI, but also a compressor, tuner, fuzz, chorus, octave and envelope filter.....a few quid more but a one box solution....

  17. After a long flat journey, I've settled on TI flats too, love the low tension and smooth feel, great sounding too.
  18. I've had replacement machine heads in my 64 Precision ever since I got it, no matter how I cleaned and lubricated the originals they were just so stiff as to not be practical to use. I recently read about Tri Flow dry lubrication, although a little sceptical I stripped my old tuners down and applied the lube wherever there would be friction.......and well......what a difference, these are now like new, I'm so pleased and surprised to have the original 54 year old tuners back on, they turn smoothly and effortlessly...and stay in tune. The Gotoh replacements I had installed will be sold shortly as they are thankfully no longer required, although they are rather splendid! This stuff is highly recommended..
  19. We have all cables that we need, and the plan in the short term will be that once we get our new pa our current active pa will do the monitoring, they're wedged and will certainly do for monitors until we can get something a little smaller.
  20. Thanks for advice so far, the band is Hammond organ, one guitar, bass, vocals, and yes, the kick drum will be going through the pa too. We already have a good unpowered passive desk so would be looking at powered speakers. Our drummer has no transport so we share his kit out between the rest of us, hence the need for the pa to be on the small side so can fit everything in..!
  21. This girl generally stays at home in my front room as a rather extravagant practice amp, however I thought I'd give this a runout last night, I turned up and the place was quite a bit bigger than I had expected and I was a little concerned that the 25 watt B-15 would struggle a little as the place filled up, I need not have worried as this baby breezed through it, I never got past 2 o'clock and easily kept up with the Hammond and guitar which we're both going through the pa. Not to mention the fantastic creaminess you get from these things... She's a rather fantastic girl.
  22. My band has about 1k to spend on a new PA. It's got to be small, portable and powerful enough to play medium venues and halls. Our current PA is pretty cheap and far too big for what it does, i understand that powered speakers are the best for portability, other than that I'm at a bit of a loss.....
