1. These are great, added to a CMD121p is the perfect rig..
2.
The Maze (Mansfield Road)
Played at the Maze for their Christmas masquerade ball, cracking live venue.
3.
Thank goodness you're not near me, trying that would be dangerous!! My '71 P would not be happy lol GLWTS, it's a stunner Si
I could be tempted with late 60's or early 70's Precisions as part payment if anyone is interested...
4.
Bass looks great. Im sure a nicely reliced refin of that sonic blue over sunburst would look just as dandy. GLWTS
I thought about it, but I have an AVRI in Sonic blue so decided to keep it as it is..
5.
I have never seen a Fender Bass case looking like that one though!
Just read on Guitarhq that Canadian cases were slightly different to European cases in the early 60s as they sourced them locally. Although it looks to be the traditional tweed underneath a black.
6. This is from the guitarhq page In early 1964, Fender moved to a black tolex case with the (same) dark orange interior. This type of case was basically used till the end of the 1970's, with some minor changes (mostly the exterior logo). Early 1964 to 1965 cases have no exterior "Fender" logo. This bass was actually originally sold in Canada and imported to the U.K.
7. Photobucket woes overcome and photos finally uploaded. I don't think it helped that my iPad 4 is struggling to keep up with the latest IOS operating systems and is getting slower, and slower, and slower, and slower, and slower. As you can see on the photos, some bloke called Charlie has written his name on the neck heel where there is a R.R stamp, my understanding is that this is again in connection with it going back to Fender for the sonic blue custom colour.
8. Looks like I shall be adding them one at a time, the sodding thing keeps crashing and I keep losing the post....
9. Price drop to £3300 I have two 1964 Fender Precisions and one of them has to go, it's been a hard decision as they both have different things about them that I love, but I'm going to keep the Fiesta red and sell this one which has been stripped back to its natural wood at some point in its long history. This is a late 64 model and so has the pearloid fret inlays but clay dot markers, but it has the most fantastic neck I've ever played, only 53 years and wear and sweat can make a neck look and feel like this! Original nut and frets which have plenty of life left and a beautiful Brazilian rosewood board. A couple of the clay dots have dropped out of the fret markers which I thought about filling with something but decided against it as they just add to the mojo... It has SB burnt into the wood under the pickguard with a soldering iron, my understanding is that this would have left the factory as a sunburst as all Precisions did back then, and then gone back to the Fender factory to get a custom Sonic Blue over the top following a customer request. It has an AVRI 63 reissue pickguard which I think are pretty good copies. My Fiesta red has an original mint pickguard on and they have the colour match pretty spot on, everything else on this bass is original, pots 3046421 and neck stamp December 64, with original black bottom pickups, most of the wiring looks original too. I have thought about getting it back to its previous original condition, Sonic Blue over sunburst, but I quite like it as it is! I found an article on "Fender bass player" which list the top 10 Fender years and has 1964 as the best! And this old girl just sneaks in.... http://fenderbassplayer.com/top-10-vintage-fender-bass-years It also comes with the original 1964 case which are getting pretty rare these days and often sell on their own for more than a lot of guitars. This has obviously done its job pretty well over the decades of protecting the bass and shows it's battle scares. It has a few repairs and bumps but is still very sturdy and complements this bass very well. I'm not looking to post this so you can either come over to me (North Notts) and give her a blast through my B-15, or we could meet up somewhere. Photos will come, photo bucket and basschat page being a git... 10. Drums don't have to be silly loud, whilst you can't turn them down, lighter sticks or smaller drums can reduce their volume somewhat so everyone doesn't have to turn up to compete, however in my experience drummers don't like playing quieter, our drummers a big lad, with big sticks, but when push comes to shove he can play quieter as well...
11. I think regular pub goers may appreciate live music more if pub bands turned down a little, it also seems to be that the worse the band the louder they play, almost as though being as loud as a jumbo taking off makes up for the fact that they're not very good.... I think some bands also hit the pubs when they're not ready, you've got to hit a reasonable standard if you expect people to want to listen to you. I've seen some shocking bands play where most people did not stay very long... and those people may not return!
12. OK, so one of them worked at the venue, and the other bloke does some solo thing, but to say they they just got on stage and started going I think they did good... https://www.facebook.com/MissionCreepUK/videos/1843808022532956/

14.
I am not impressed by 'talent' who can't even sing their own bloody songs, even if they have got a great arse. Rant over.
Cant say I agree with this, great ass is pretty high on the list of must haves for me....😬
15. A trace Elliot of some variety many years ago. Trace 300 watt head, 4/10 and 2/15 Peavey black widow SWR Redhead (great sound but under powered and too heavy) Mesa boogie walkabout 12 ((very nice, always felt it needed to be a little louder) Peavey Bam 2/10 (What a great amp, pity it's so damn heavy) AER amp one ((just ace) Ampeg Heritage B-15 (best tone ever) Mark bass CMD121p with MY121 (best all rounder)
16. I keep telling people that my 25 watt Ampeg B15 Heritage is more than enough to gig small to medium venues, it matches my 300watt Mark bass CMD121p......
17. Tech 21 fly bass rig is my effects, it has a cracking DI which is my back up should my Amy go down.
18. Been looking on the web and it looks like 6230 fret wires would what would normally be on pre CBS precisions.
19. Rosewood neck so makes life a little easier, nice tall and thin stainless frets it is then. Thanks for your help.
20. Thanks for that, I'm guessing the new ones would want to be as least as wide to cover where the old ones were?
21. Yeah it's the original frets and nut, but they are dressed very low indeed, my thoughts were to try to match the original as much as possible, is there a specific wire?
