For sale only an Ibanez SR300, the 2012 model with the 3 knob EQ, bass, middle and treble. I purchased it new and have gigged it and there are a couple of dings to mention. The most noticeable is a scratch about 10mm long below the middle control. The other mark is very small above the bridge and is only visable close up, there is also a bit of light scratching on the back of one of the tuning pegs.

They are both very differnet in subtle ways that I will explain below. The Yammy is good. The Epiphone is crap. There you go.

I'm surprised that we have "Timewasters" on BassChat

Looking from it from the other sde. I told a guy that I would buy the bass at the price he asked for it and asked how he was wanting paid. I never heard from him again. And the bass is still for sale. But at the end of the day it is up to him who he sells his bass too. All my other sales/purchases have been great and doing the biz on here is far better than e bay or gumtree. -
A couple of years ago I pluged a Sansamp into a Wharfdale 12" powered monitor and it was..........guff. It started making farty noises right away at low volumes and I had to turn the bass, drive and volume down a good bit. No use for gigging. I recall it was rated about 250 watts but I think that was rather optomistic. Mabye a classD would be better but I wouldn`t like to shell out for a powered cab and find out it was no use unless you could pick up something suitable 2nd hand? It will be intresting to find out if this works, especially if you are paying!

I bought this CV last October and have used it in the studio only as I haven`t been gigging much recently. I have recently aquired a Jap P bass and as I only need 1, this one is surplus. It is in as new condition, no dents or marks and totally standard as it came out of the box. Any blemishes on the photos are caused by the light. It weighs 9lbs on the old bathroom scales. I am looking for a trade only. Trade value around £230. I am not quite sure what I`m looking for in trade but here are some ideas. Cv Jazz Epi Thunderbird Pro Yamaha BB 424 Something else with neck through construction? I do not have any spare cash to add to the deal so something of equivelent value please. Any questions ask away.

Re 5th fret. I seem to recall that a punk/ska bandmember whose name escapes me for now, turned up at Aston "famly man" Barrett house for a bass lesson. He opened his front door and said to the guy "nothing above the 5th fret!" and promptly shut the door. And here endeth the lesson Grasshopper. Apologies for the thread diversion.
Good point. It might well be a mix of both. Stick a cheapish set of rounds on in the factory & the player will bond with that type of string & have a fear of trying flats as the MD can tell everyone that they're very dull sounding & have no top end, which some folk take as being "you can't hear anything above the 7th fret"!
Above the 7th fret!!!! Are you insane????? There is nothing above the 7th fret. The world will end there. I have Status flats (damm good value, about £20 delivered) on a P and D`addario on the Yam and Ibby so get the best of both worlds. I agree with the earlier posts regarding flats. Mine have been on a few different basses, are about 18 months old and they sound the same as when I bought them so what`s in it for the manufacturers?

An Epi EB O followed by an Epi EB3. Both sounde like a plie of cack and had an awful finish. Which makes me wonder why I bought them as well!!

Welcome to the world of Gumtree / Joinmyband / Bandmix etc. I too have existed in this twighlight world for around a year now and would not wish it on anybody. Hopefully my time in the world of people-who-mess-you-about is over!!

If anyone else was offended by my 'mistake', please accept my unreserved apologies. I know what I must do - I'll be out in the stables with a revolver, tell Daphne I loved her........... Who`s that? Her out of Scooby Doo? -

What do you ask when advertising for a vocalist?

I feel your pain We have auditoned a few singers recently one of them was simply dreadful and could not sing at all. A few others were just guff or didn`t turn up. I think the problem is they see the x factor and their mate/girlfriend/relation says that they are a great singer after singing at a kareoke bar and they decide to join a band. Sometimes you can be lucky but the only way to find out is give them some songs to learn and get them down for a play. It is frustrating. We have ended up with a guy who has only ever sung in a country and western set up but we got him down, the guy can wail and is willing to give the rock thing a shot. Even better, he has a really good pa Only time will tell if it works out. -
I worked in manufacturing for 20 years on the shop floor and managment level and sometimes no matter how much care is taken or how much development is done things do go wrong. It is how the company responds in regard to the issue that shows you what kind of company they are. I hope that youz get your problem ressolved quickly and to your satisfaction.
I'm saving up for some tasty IEM goodness but in the meantime I'm using ACS ER20s They're about £8 delivered if you buy them online, I can chat between songs without taking them out and my ears don't ring after rehearsal....
I`ve just realised these are the ones I have Note to self. Must remember to read the other posts before posting myself.
I've had similar. Somewhere around '02 the band I was with at the time kinda drifted apart for a number of reasons, and after our last gig I didn't even pick up a bass for some 7-8 years. Just couldn't be arsed, which was possibly part of the reason for the band folding. I noodled around at home a bit with an acoustic guitar and developed a dirty banjo habit, but had no urge for the bass at all. Just stacked all my gear under the stairs and left it there... ...until mid 2010, when some mates got in touch asking if I'd be up for a one-off gig for a laugh in a local pub. So I did it, and had a whale of a time. The one-off scratch band is still together, getting more gigs than we can do, and I think I'm enjoying playing more than I've ever done. As others have said, if you don't wanna play, don't. Life's short mate - do stuff you do want to do.
This is one of the best posts I have read on here. Well except for the banjo bit!!

I use a set by a company called ACS. Got them in the drum shop after being told by the guys in a large Glasgow guitar shop that they used these and not the crap ones they sell! They were about £12 and are made of soft plastic and have a cord attached so you don`t lose them. Work well too.
