1. Now £600 It is with great regret that i am having to put this up for sale/trade but my back just cant cope with it any more, even though i'm only 25, even more gutted because i just love the tone that comes from it. I have had a good scout over and the only flaws i can see are some very light scuffs (buckle rash?) on the back barely visible due to the fantastic wood figuring and the scrapes around the truss rod cover where a previous owner has obviously had difficulty removing it. Excuse the poor photos only taken on my phone in a bit of a hurry can try and get some better ones if anyone needs any. If anyone is interested you are more than welcome to come and have a look/play (based in Salford Quays). Currently has an old set of 45-130 elixirs that i have put back on but still some life left in them. Dunlop straplocks will be replace with standard strapbuttons prior to sale. I think they are warwicks version of strap locks but the bass arrived to me without the straplocking part. 2. Its a fanned fret bass supposedly called SRFF 4505, don't think there is any official word from Ibanez yet. Odd if its going to happen though, would expect them to do a FF guitar first? https://twitter.com/ikebegakki/status/472341046836211712
3. Cheers for the advice people. Pretty much seems the same as I told him. Gunna have to spend a lot more for something great. But thanks for the suggested options I will let him know. The budget is pretty no moveable due to him being a student and buying two 7s this year. I don't see floppyness being an issue I dropped my .145 to Ab last night on 34" and it wasn't the worst thing ever. Completely off topic but has anyone seen the image going round of the Ibanez Fanned Fret?
4. Guitarist friend of mine is looking to get a 5 string to do some work on his solo project. Looking at under £200 second hand and wants to know any suggestions/what sort of things to keep an eye out for. Style is progressive metal in style of TesseracT, Periphery and Modern Day Babylon, so really wants something with a good low ended/strong B (buckers?) probably to be tuned to drop Ab. Not too familiar with 5's in this price range so any advice would be gratefully received.
5. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/fender-japan-jazz-bass/1064396314#photo-content Seems very cheap to me.
6. 6505+ are great amps but probably seriously overpowered if he is thinking of DarkTerror. The H&K Tubemeister36 has a huge sound for something so small, plus they do have a power soak option. Best bet for metal sound is look for something with either EL84s or 34s rather than 6L6s. Few guitarists i know have tried the Laney Ironheart and really disliked the sound although they get rave reviews from some areas.
7. Not available in the UK as far as i'm aware. This thing has a huge sound, its more of a heavy overdrive/distortion rather than a mild drive/fuzz. Simple one knob for level out and 3 way tone in a very sturdy housing. Just not quite the sound i need at the moment otherwise it would be staying with me. There are some youtube demos to give an idea of sounds. Few dings, will try and get some pics up later on. No box or manual etc. £50 inc postage.
8. The main differences between them are the neck shape (V vs D vs C) i think and the pickups, although none of them are true reissues as up until about '65 all strats came with three way switches, i believe.
9. Reserves on eBay really does annoy me, why not just put it as the starting bid? Even more confusing is i think there is a 3.5% insertion fee for having a reserve, assuming his reserve is best part of a grand (as suggested by his hundreds saving on a new custom one) that is £35 just for insertion. Fee for having a starting bid greater than £100 is £1.30. Seems a bit of a no brainier to me. Unless i've completely misunderstood their fees policy. Anyway rant over, it is a nice looking beast.
10. If you can find them the Lollar lollartron's sound very good in something like a 335. They are based on the old gretsch filtertrons, but fit to a standard humbucker rout, but have a warmth to them that the Filtertrons never really had.
11.
Yes, I haven't seen anything on the 5 string Balanced Tension sets either. I use a 145 and even that isn't close to being 'balanced', though it works well enough.
I'm assuming your using the d'addario .145, if so did you get tapered or non? Did you have any issues with fit at nut or bridge? Been contemplating going that heavy for a while but not if i'm going to have to get nut work done.
12. Anyone got any recommendations of the best place to get leads to connect power supplies to pedals, varying lengths would probably be useful also.
13. I get really frustrated at people who put stupidly long auctions on. Potential for bit of a bargain for someone, does look like someones chewed on the neck though. These are 35" scale if i remember rightly. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-BTB-205-5-String-Active-Bass-Guitar-with-New-Strings-99p-Start-Price-/191117546618?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c7f7e547a
14.

Just curious about why only neck pickup on the 6?
15. That is a lot of instrument for the price, cant believe it's still here.
16. I play 12-54 d'addario on electric and 13-56 martin on acoustic, standard tuning's on both as first i could only play for about 15 minutes at a time with the 13s but my fingers eventually got used to it. I know that Rick Parfitt uses 14-56 with a wound G but he does absolutely hammer the strings.
17. Had a scan through and couldn't see it mentioned so here goes Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein uses Ampeg think they are SVT Classics. All dependent on your opinion of misfits sound i suppose but people do do it.
18. Any idea of a decent foot controller for this?
19. It is a thing of such beauty, trying to work out what i would have to sell to be able to buy something to be able to trade......how much does a black market kidney go for these days?
20. Isn't zebrawood usually a lot paler than that? i.e. pale main colour with dark stripes?
21.
Is it good for Metal?
Does it djent?
22. I'll have a go saw them live last month.
