1. For the price of a d.i. box you could just get a something like a s/h squier vibe 50's p or a new squier bronco and put some flats on it.. job done the harley benton pb 50 gets some good reviews on here to and they are cheap as chips !
2.
If you have an appointment with Mr Baxter you won't be able to afford to go anywhere else.
Ha
3. The Bass Gallery in Camden would have to be on the list ..happy hunting !
4. Great technical ability but vocally i cant stand it its like a one man boy band version of Manhattan transfer...
5. I have a m.i.j. fender jazz with john east pre and its not better i.m.o. it is different however ,i would say the v7 is more punchy and has more mids present i find it cuts through the mix better but is still much closer to a jazz than a stingray type bass its my number one bass for funky stuff .. i still prefer the fender for reggae and oldschool stuff more.
6.
Isn't Cambridgeshire where musicians go to get away from the music scene; there, or Norfolk..?
The areas awash with em I know of a few jazzerz who have retired up there but then no musician can actually afford to live in or near London anymore especially a jazzer
7.
Yeah yeah, never mind that. Does it pay?
Only the weddings and funerals the rest is really just art for arts sake !
8. I cant sing the praises of my v7 highly enough it just keeps getting better the more i play it and for some reason i dont need to change the strings as often i think its partly to do with the ash body but on my alder fender jazz they sound dead much quicker !
9.
I'm partial to a bit of alternative symphonic grindshoegazecore myself. Having trouble finding a band.
Thats what we play and we are looking for a 4th bassist but everything is tuned down 5 octaves and we only play in f flat but not E !
10. I may make Brentwood if not gigging ..nice one
11.
Me, knock an established sub-genre? Never! I'm into Melodic Metalcore, me.
Sounds like a contradiction in terms !
12. Cool ,have you got any gigs coming up in your Hometown which is only down the road from me
13. Just watched/listened to your live studio performance of 'The Night 'by Frankie valli ..really good stuff and the singer looks familiar who is he ? I will have to come see u next time !
14. Yep i agree start your own, you seem to love the soul/funk stuff and i reckon there is always a market for that kind of thing its just hard to find players good enough to play it but they are around !
15. Thanks man ..p bass straight into desk with a slight mid scoop on that i think..
16. Sounds great i'm not a fan of ace of bass or Bruno mars particularly but i am a reggae man and prefer your versions forward to hearing with drums...here is a sample of our stuff..https://soundcloud.com/thesgsuk/rise-up-sampler https://soundcloud.com/thesgsuk/rise-up-sampler
17. That would make it about average p weight with a neck then i guess...hmmm very tempting !
18.
Absolutely love Lee Sklar. One minute he's noodling along behind James Taylor, the next he's pumping out one of the best grooves ever on Billy Cobham's Stratus.
my sentiments exactly plus this bit of genius ! https://youtu.be/dKHvRHp9h0U
19. In that case hes out of order as takings must of been higher than normal ,if his takings were lower than they had been when you played there before it may have been acceptable' if ' he had filled you in on the situation but having a good night on the tills and collecting without anything extra for you sounds out of order, i would only play there for double fee in future or tell him to poke it.
20. I have had a german hof beatle bass and a 90's epiphone rivoli in the past and found them to be great the Rivoli in particular, although it was a one trick pony it did that old school R n B ,jazz thing fantastically well i dont know how they compare to the j.c. but am very tempted to try one
21. I felt the same as b5 and the 60's just edged it over the 70's for me although i suspect that the 70's might win out in the mix with live band.
22. Just Google 'fingering' and you'll find some interesting stuff !
23. Does a p neck really sound different to a j on the same bass ?
