  1. I would of thought there is always room for an extra cab if they are stacked ,but if you couldnt hear the drummer then the problem as has been said is guitards ego's !
  2. I have made the mistake before of upgrading my amp to double the watts and only getting about20% more audible volume where as if you got another cab you will get a lot more than that and will be able to taylor your rig depending on venue/band it's cheaper too 😊
  3. Local library might be worth a try !
  4. Your welcome ....i am a friend of Elaine who takes the first solo at beginning of vid and the whole family are really gifted Elaine is choir master at covanent of god church Hitchin [i think thats right]
  5. https://www.facebook.com/TheKingdomChoir/videos/115905408800139/ I have come across and had the honour of playing with some fantastic gospel players\singers here in Hertfordshire/London a lot of pro players come through from gospel music scene as its such a great learning school
  6. Marvin Gaye Gregory Porter Gregory Isaaks Curtis Mayfield
  7. https://youtu.be/TMsVCcwTUCM He plays a double stop right at the end of this vid. which as far as i no is the only chord like thing in it.. I would go with finger and thumb good luck
  8. https://youtu.be/pATcvr3zAhg I dont know the gospel scene that well but for me some of the best players especially groove players come from a gospel background Sharay Reed is one of the best around i reckon !
  9. You can also draw upon that wealth of music from your hometown 'The Big Easy'
  10. I would also get in the rehearsal room as a band at the earliest opportunity as the interaction will bring out the best in you you will also be able to apply what your learning at home and make sense of it.
  11. This is a steal if you can get over the Amp snob thing you wont be dissapointed i have one as a backup amp and it often gets used over my Ashdown or Trace !
  12. Thanks for the replies fellas... sounds promising..did the mustang pickup make a big difference from stock one ?
  13. Thanks im going to give it a try and i'll post up the results i have a bridge seymour duncan jazz p.u. to try if the string spacing will accomadate it
  14. Thanks .. i do love how informative the folk on this forum can be ! i'm off to look at the Symmetrical Augmented scale now although i suspect 'Giant Steps ' may still prove tricky for me !
  15. well i guess thats a no then !
  16. I was going to ask about modes within a piece with a shifting key centre like 'giant steps' but i think i will stick to thinking of it in terms of scales and playing by ear as it all gets a little controversial it seems
  17. I recently picked up a cheap squier bronco and after a set up and some flats have been pleasantly surprised with how decent it is ,i'm now thinking of adding a jazz p.u. near the bridge as im quite happy with the original p.u. as is has anyone tried this ?
  18. I understand the modal Jazz example but if i understand the first point correctly does that mean C Lydian dominant scale derives from F melodic minor scale ?
  19. I love what i have heard of it ,think i'll have to get a copy There seems to be a lot of stuff coming out these days inspired by that Coltrane / Pharoah Saunders spiritual sound which can only be a good thing ! in fact it made me dig this out https://youtu.be/bYKHCvmu1z4
  20. https://youtu.be/ezqvuKnJb6g this even
  21. There are plenty of tabs if you google it and this vid will helphttps://youtu.be/ezqvuKnJb6g i usually mute with palm or fingers when i play it and gradually ease off muting towards end of riff and pop the last couple of notes good luck
  22. I have a V7 from Thomann and its fantastic it came really well packed [a box inside a box with lots of bubble wrap] it played great straight out of the box the finish is spot on and it needed no truss rod adjustment when i lowered the action a touch...i cant fault mine and it plays and sounds on a par with bass's 2 and 3 times more expensive... as others have said Squier vm ,and vibe and mm fenders are great to ,if i were going for a passive bass i would go for one of those but if you want active / passive option with e.q preamp etc. the Sire v7 would be my choice.
