Amazingly tight band. The drummer, Ricky Wellman later played with Miles & Marcus (check Amandla) Chuck Brown also responsible for one of the most sampled drum loops (Soul II Soul, Egnima, etc, etc).... Hi Guys, Cheers for the comments - some good some bad as you always expect! Think I might head out and test one for myself and see what they sound like. Certainly the portability looks interesting and the combining of the tuner and compressor would mean now need for a rack with a head and tuner in it and also one less pedal on the board too! Mark

Hi, I have been reading in BGM and on the web about the new bass amps and cabs from TC Electronics and I wanted to know if anyone on the forum has tried them out or bought one yet? They look really good on the web and the price is not too bad so might consider a change if the reports on here are just as good. Let me know your thoughts please! Mark

Ah man that is cool - played by a real master! Where was that taken at? Mark
Bentley gets a proper player at the helm...!
Hi Rich, What were your thoughts on the cab? Interested to hear after our debate!! Cheers Mark
I've just checked with voxpop (next on the list after me) and he has asked me to remove him from the list so I guess that if no one has any major objections, I can pass it on to Stingrayfan.
I passed the Southern Compact on to BarelyL4 last night and apologise for the delay in moving this along but I was waiting for the next in line to come back to me and he never did! Thanks for the opportunity again Alex and happy to test a Midget if the chance arises? Thanks Mark
I need to work out where they've been and where they have yet to go - my inclination is to keep these cabs touring until there's no more bass players left to try them! So no-one has missed the boat but there may be a wait before it returns to your vicinity. Alex
Think you are right Andy - a good new home/owner. Still just a bit miffed that I could not raise the necessary but that is the way things go sometimes - now if I could just persuade Russ to sell Bentley in 6 months time!!!!
Pete. Mr Thunderthumbs. apparently he played her the day before I collected her from new and fell in love then so perhaps it's right in the end that he finally has her, although you will understandably dissagree!
-

Snap! I am not a big guy either - but have never noticed any weight issue with this bass at all! Mark
I played one of these on a dep gig a few months ago, weight wise I had no issues with getting through two 45min sets, and I'm not a big guy. The preamp is also pretty nice, great usable tone, albeit with a slightly odd control layout! Si
-

Ken Smith Designs 5 String Proto-J Jazz FS - SOLD!!
Gunsfreddy2003 posted a topic in Basses For Sale
Up for sale is my KSD Proto-J 5 string jazz bass which I bought brand new from Bernie Goodfellow last year. I got Bernie to put the EBS preamp into the bass which makes a huge difference to the range of tones available and the output from the bass. It is really punchy and has a thunderous bottom end but also very sparkly highs. It is not a million miles away from the sounds that I can get from my GB Rumour! I am only selling as something has come along to really catch my eye and I need to raise some cash quickly! Condition is mint throughout apart from the plastic battery cover on the back has broken and will need to be replaced but I am using good old tape at the moment to keep it in place! Looking for £550 for this bass. Any questions then please ask Cheers Mark -
