1. BUMP - I have made the decision to purchase another bass and this one just has to go now!! Was looking for £550 - excellent value for this 5 string model and with the upgraded EBS pre-amp too. I might look at a sensible offer if someone wants to PM me! Cheers Mark
 2. Tosser - only plays basses that he can get for free!!
Ha ha.. One from the archives.
3. Weekend BUMP - had some interest but no firm takers at the moment.
 4. Thanks for the link to bambibau I have not seen him before on Ebay and he has some lovely basses - jazzes just seem to go for a hell of a lot of money. Again apologies for the hijack and hope you get the sale.
Mid/late 70s Jazzes are less sought than early 70s due to 3-bolt neck (less popular), often heavier, Fender QC (allegedly dropped in late 70s), and ugly plastic control knobs. Thats my understanding but I am happy to be corrected. Take a look at the prices of 70s Jazzes on eBay from the Italian seller (bambibau) and early 70s Jazzes are in region of £3000 while late 70s Jazzes are roughly £2000. Also apologies to OP - nice bass and good luck with the sale!
5. Ah OK. Sorry to hijack the thread but which 70's jazz basses are least sought after and why?
As I understand it, the three bolt necks came in around 1975/76 which is among the reasons (weight as well) why early 70s Jazzes are more highly sought after (and of course valued)
6. That is a lovely bass and if I had the cash I would be sending you a PM now! I am no Fender expert but I thought that all early 70's jazzes had 3 bolts for the neck - I am obviously wrong??? Mark
I am selling my 1971 Fender Jazz Bass to make way for my new 64 Jazz. Apart from a little fretwork the bass is 100% original, pots and serial number date the bass to 71, pots, wiring, pickups, hardware, finish is all original. The bass still has its original pickup covers, with foam mute pad intact! on the bridge cover. Custom Candy Apple Red metallic finish, rosewood board with block markers. The bass is extremely light for a 70's model (at a little over 8lbs) Condition wise there is belt buckle wear, some minor nicks and marks but overall the base is in very good condition for its age. It sounds fantastic and the neck is lovely and straight, nice low action and no buzz. This is a really nice example of an early 70's model as many others suffered from poor quality control but not this one, no gap between the pickups and the body route, no huge neck pocket etc. The bass doesnt have its original hsc but will come with a proper fender jazz hardcase. Price is £2900 Standard colour models go for this price but the bonus of this is the rare Red finish and the light weight of the bass Cheers
7. Not normally a fan of that wood but it looks great! How is your latest GB project coming along?
That would (wood) be thuya!
8. What wood is used on the facings of the 6 stringer? Can't quite see on my screen. Mark
Was down in the bassment and there was a nice collection currently in... so...
9. Ha ha!! That has to be coming from a man who has been to Bernie's many a time?
f*** me, has he hoovered, or just in that corner?
10. Is there a rack light on the DTR1000?
I think the DTR2000 has the metronome and rack light but is the same tuner as the DTR1000 which is the one I have. I had the Behringer I wasn't a fan.
11. Can't answer the question on the differences between the two Korg's but I have a Behringer and have to say that it is not too bad at all! It is terrible with the low string of my 5 string but works faultlessly with my 4 string and they are a heck of a lot cheaper than the Korgs! Mark
Is there much difference berween the two korg tuners?the 1000 and the 2000 i think?how do they compare to the peterson one? Im guessing that the behringer one aint much cop!seen them going pretty cheap though, any onfo would be cool,t
12. Official new year BUMP - might have to go to Ebay soon if no takers.
 13. Guys, Thanks for your tips and advice. Did manage to look in on Waltons and Music Maker and whilst they were not bad shops they didn't have much in the way of bass stuff! Probably a good thing though given the exchange rate!! Cheers Mark
 14.
Do you know what street they are on? Thanks Mark Short answer is no theres nothing worth going out of your way for. But you could try Musicmaker and Musician Inc. which are both beside each other I havent been in either of them for quite a while but they are your best bet on finding something
15. Just heading over to Dublin for New Years and wonder if anyone can recommend any good music shops for bass stuff to have a look at whilst I am over there? Cheers Mark
 16. I have one of these on my board and cannot recommend them highly enough! They are one of the few envelope filters that do not lose the bottom end at all. They are relatively expensive but definitely worth it. It does also depend on what sort of sound you are trying to achieve - there are other filters that offer more "squelch" if that is your thing. There is another thread on the forum that talks about envelope filters and you can hear a sample of track that I have recorded with my band and the intro uses a Chunk Systems Agent 00 Funk Mark II not sure if that is the sound that you are after or not. Mark
i've heard great things about this pedal. i was wondering if anyone has had any experiences..good or bad.. so i can judge on whether to get one also whether there are any cheaper or just better alternatives? cheers, James
17. If anyone is interested I have attached a clip from a track that I play with my band that uses the Chunk Systems Agent 00Funk Mark II - you can hear the squelch in the intro. I think it does a pretty good job of cloning the Mu-Tron!! Mark
 18. It should not be too hard to do. Last time I was down at Bernie Goodfellows in Brighton having some work done on my GB I mentioned it to him and he said that he could replace it but I have not been back there since! Let me know if you can find the funds! Cheers Mark
mate, if i can get the cash together i'll definitly let ya know! wicked bass! Is it easy to replace that battery cover? haven't never seen anywhere selling replacement battery covers!!
19. Bump!
Something has taken my eye on the forum and as a result I really need to shift this bass now. Hopefully there are still some interested parties? Mark
20. Something has taken my eye on the forum and as a result I really need to shift this bass now. Hopefully there are still some interested parties? Mark
No - it is still for sale but as the bass that I was after has now sold I am not sure whether to still sell it or not! Cheers Mark
21. Like that a lot!!! Is that snakewood on the fingerboard?
Latest delivery from the Goodfellow stable...
22. I have purchased many envelope filters over the last couple of years and I have posted my findings on one of the many other threads on the forum about envelope filters. I am currently using the EBS Bass IQ, Chunk Systems Agent 00 Funk Mark II into the Chunk Systems Brown Dog for some awesome synth bass type sounds and also a Subdecay Prometheus which also has some cool filter and synth type sounds. I found the Q-tron, DOD FX25B, Maxon AF-9 and the Haz reissue of the Mu-Tron III to be lacking a lot of what I wanted from a filter and that was a really dirty squelch!! Mark
Just having a general ask about Envelope filters, who uses them an what model do you use. Ime currently useing an Ashdown bass envelope filter, i picked it up secondhand of fleebay quite cheeply when at the time i was looking at getting a BOSS auto-waw So the question is , what do you use? an how does it rank? Much thanx Dan...
23. I was in there yesterday - what a cool shop and guy that owns it! TBH not that impressed with the sound from the RH450 very coloured indeed. Did hear Mark Bass head through a Bergantino cab and wow what a sound!! I had tried Mark Bass before through their own cabs and decided it was not for me but this might have changed my mind!! The Genz Benz stuff sounded great too and so light in weight. Mark
you following me? Think i will be going with the Classic but i'm going to do a side by side at Bass Direct
