  1. FWIW I think these are great basses and £425 is a steal. I love mine!
  2. I think I saw this on a Johnny Dibble video
  3. If you like compression, Id suggest a compressor pedal rather than the onboard. There are some decent inexpensive ones. Ive gone a bit more high end with the Empress Bass Compressor - Brilliant bit of gear
  4. I can get in the red pretty easily, usually at 1 or 2 oclock, it'll start peaking depending on my eq settings. As bagman says, as you add more low end you'll notice the needle move. I dont use the onboard compressor, but I can remember that killing the volume - not sure if that affects vu though
  5. All good thanks Steve. Still got the Ultra Jazz, got tempted to swap it for something with a bit more of a subtle finish, but so glad I kept it. recorded with it recently and it sounds brilliant. Hope you are good too.
  6. several hours for me too
  7. I've gone from several pedals (octaves, chorus, big muffs) to just an Empress bass comp and tuner. I love the empress compressor, it adds a little bit of harmonic distortion. Its subtle, but it makes the bass sit better in a mix. I do think a tiny bit of drive is essential
  8. Question. How are people measuring whether an amp is coloured or not? Are you using your ears and comparing against a DI signal, or are you looking at response plots?
  9. Quite the claim. I think you should tell us what band you are in. I'd be keen to see the best sounding band ever
  10. In terms of Aesthetics, Id say tc bh 800 would look pretty nice. I had one for a short while and it was pretty decent. Which was a surprise because I had a similar tc bq head and that was garbage. Theres one in the classifieds at the moment too. I think for uncoloured the Aguilar AG might be better than the TH. Eich, Quilter, Genzler all have good reputations.
  11. Still pending. Due to be collected Sun 27th
  12. Trace Elliot Elf for sale. Fantastic little amps and loud too. I'd been using at as a backup to my main amp, So I never needed to gig with it but I have no doubt it would have done the job well if needed. Pairs nicely with GK 200w 4 Ohm cab also for sale. Thanks Alex
  13. Moving on this great, really lightweight, 15 inch speaker cab with horn. Loud and pairs nicely with a small amp - for example my Trace Elliott Elf which is also up for sale. You get the full power of the amp with it being 4ohm. All working correctly. Thanks, Alex
  14. I loved the HA5500 - such a good amp and bulletproof
  15. I purchased a Markbass cab from Steve. Good comms, easy to deal with. looking forward to putting the cab through its paces. Thanks Alex
  16. Happy with vvt loom. Easy to fit and sounds great. Thanks
  17. I might be a bit out of order here, but I wish they would get someone that could play on their videos. I know he's not trying to show off his chops and thats not the point, but I find his playing pretty hard to watch.
  18. I have the Genz Benz NX 2x12 and they blow the BF210/410 (Ive owned these) away imo - they are in a different league. That said, I would presume they NX range are more similar to the BF12 range (which ive never used) - so maybe not a fair comparison. I picked mine up for £350 2nd hand which is so much cheaper than equivalent BF. I think it would work in any band situation
  19. The mightier amp app is compatible with the nux and has a wider selection of amps
  20. All of the amp plugs Ive used Nux, Vox, Donner have a line in for your phone. The Donner was cheap & pretty poor The vox was decent The Nux is levels above them, bluetooth means you have less wires to deal with, and the choice of amps, effects etc is super useful
  21. Another recommendation for the Nux mighty plug
  22. I love my Reverend Mercalli. Its a great bass GLWTS
