Black looks good. I Prefer it to the white for sure. I never find 3rd party pick guards fit 100% correctly (unless thats genuine fender?$$$). Screws sitting slightly off axis does annoy me - similar to amp overhang

I think P bass and J bass are so different in tonal character. To my ears a p bass has loads more mids - almost honky in comparison and a j bass is naturally scooped. As much as I love my p bass, it's not the right bass for the majority of tracks in my band (rock) and the j sits much better. If you are reliant on your backline for the mix - pub gigs for example, then it definitely does matter. If you've got pa support and a decent sound guy at foh then probably not so much.

Another thumbs up for that bass playing & sound in the mix. Just looked up his gear. Looks like he's a markbass artist, but that cab look like an swr to me - not that we're probably hearing that in our mix

Considering a gnome as a backup. Anyone tried both the 200w and 280w version. Is there much noticeable difference in volume?

I bought a second bf 210s to go with my ABM 600 and to be honest I was a little underwhelmed. It didn't give me the volume and presence boost I was expecting - I put that down to having to run them at 12ohms and maybe never needing to drive the amp to a volume where it would have made a difference. I also tried stacking them vertically on top of each other but I actually think the dispersion on those cabs is so good that it didn't make too much difference. So I felt like I'd wasted my money and moved the cab on. Luckily the cabs retain their value quite well, so I didn't take too much of a loss. That was my experience if that helps.

You'll get a great used bass for £500-£600. There's been some lovely ibanez, sire, g&l, fender mexis, etc on classifieds recently. Theres so many review videos on YouTube you'll get a good idea of whether it ticks the boxes of what you want, but you won't know for sure till you've got it in your hands. Don't be afraid to spend the money if you have it. If you buy second hand (and buy well), you don't really lose money in fact the more expensive basses appreciate. The hunt for Excalibur has begun for you. Enjoy the ride!

To achieve mutual coupling, woofer center to center needs to be less than 1/2 wavelength - is that right? So what distance do woofers on bass need to be apart ideally? Also, does that mean that a traditional 410 (2 stacks of 2) is better than 4 speakers in a vertical array, because of the greater distance between the bottom speaker and top speaker in a vertical array?

Yes, it is one of 2 cabs I'll use. I can go 2 x 115 or 1 X 210 & 1 X 115. Ideally I'd like the 210 on top to bring the tweeter closer to my ears, but the base of the 210 is deeper than the 115 (no tweeter)
