  1. Gavin bought my mojo mojo pedal. Great Comms & great guy to deal with. Thanks @Lensbod
  2. I would recommend a compressor pedal (if you plan to use one). I think the inbuilt one is ok, but reduces your output volume quite a bit.
  3. The barefaced 10s didn't work for me with my abm, nice and warm sounding, but lacking a bit of clarity to my ears - I felt like I was struggling to cut through the mix. Mind you they have a new version available with a tweeter which could be just what I would have wanted.
  4. Here's the video that got me interested. I just use the gain and none of the clipping diodes. Sounds great to my ears and sits really nice in a mix in a rock setting
  5. There's so much you can do with it via the neuro App - Its a bit overwhelming to be honest! Fortunately the out of the box presets are good. I picked one up for £80 so its a bit more budget friendly in comparison to Darkglass stuff
  6. I no longer use the valve drive on my ABM. I've switched to using a JPTR FX Jive pedal which I set right on the point of breakup - it fattens up the tone and I prefer the breakup over the built in valve drive in the abm. I've also recently acquired a Source Audio aftershock. I'm just using the presets for more overdriven sound, but something like that might be worth considering. Its a super versatile pedal and my first impressions are pretty good.
  7. Got myself a source audio aftershock, so the mojo mojo comes off the board. excellent overdrive for the money. Works well on bass. Plenty of vids online where you can see it in action. Just want to get back what I paid for it on here a few months ago. Slight knock to the paint in bottom Rh corner - can be seen in photo. Add £3.50 for postage.
  8. Bought a source audio pedal from @Brian45. Super fast delivery and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks
  9. I'm pretty happy soundwise with My ABM evo 2 compact cabs, so I'd only swap them out for something lightweight that sounded equally as good! Those 310's are fantastic looking cabs though
  10. Those cabs look great! As I mentioned in another post, I'd definitely snap some of those up if there was a lightweight version available
  11. I wish they'd do a lightweight version of those cabs
  12. I bought a gator bag from Dan. Item in great condition, packed really well & arrived quickly. Thanks Alex
  13. Dan bought a compressor pedal from me. Instant payment and great communication throughout. cheers Alex
  14. Never been a rush fan, but I’m going to have to give Them a decent go after that! I’ve always known they were top musicians but didn’t expect them to be that good. Geddy’s tone was fantastic - he seems to hit the strings with some force
  15. Just upgraded to an empress bass comp, so the TC spectracomp is up for sale. Bought ‘as new’ from here a couple of months ago. If you’re not familiar, don’t be fooled by the one knob - this is highly configurable. This is the best video for reference.
  16. Hi All, acquired a used American ultra jazz bass recently. I have found the bridge pickup is cutting out. You can get it to come back on with a wiggle of the pickup. what’s the most likely reason for it to be cutting out? Loose solder joint maybe? should I attempt to fix it myself given that I’m novice with this type of thing and it’s an expensive bass that I don’t want to brick! It’s also active to complicate things further cheers Alex
  17. I’m a big fan of this transparent compressor pedal. Im upgrading to an empress or cali76, so this will help fund the purchase. If you’re looking up the details, be sure to search for t-Rex comp nova too. They are the exact same pedal but with different casing. Velcro on underside
  18. I’m completely open to not having a monitor, in fact it’d be my preference - the less I have to spend the better right? It’s interesting because in my years of gigging pubs to concert halls I honestly can’t remember not having a monitor firing at least the vocal back toward the band. The setup I was thinking of would have been 2 speakers and a monitor - hardly a tonne of gear. But if we can do it with just 2 speakers then even better.
  19. I may be wrong here, but Pa speakers usually sit in front and pointing away from the band. Is it not hard to hear the singer if you don’t have a monitor. I honestly can’t remember playing a gig without a monitor so I just assumed you needed one
  20. Cheers for the advice guys. looks like a pair of active speakers and mixer is probably a good way to go. What’s everyone using for monitors?
  21. My band are looking to gig soon and we need a PA. The band is drums, bass, 1 guitar (and on the odd occasion 2) 1 Main Vocal, & 1 backing vocal. Playing rock covers (Stones, who, Jam, etc). The gigs will usually be in pubs an the most likely setup for the PA is going to be Main Vocal, backing vocal and a kick drum going through it. There is also potential for guitar to go through it as the guitarist has just moved to a kemper but the intention is he will use his own cab. Do you think one of the tower PA systems will be man enough for the job - I'm thinking something like the Yamaha stagepas 1k or similar. I like the idea of something portable, because, as bass players we have enough to carry already and we get annoyed carrying stuff we do not directly benefit from! Any advice will be greatly appreciated Thanks
  22. Should be sorted with this now. Thanks for the advice though
  23. Keep an eye on musik productiv- they had rootmaster 500 for £250 last week, brand new delivered. over the last year or so they have had some excellent deals on Ashdown gear
  24. Hi guys, quick question, I have a head with one speakon output on it. If I want to connect 2 cabs to it I assume I’ll need a speakon y splitter cable. Is that correct? N.B I have no link options on the cabs cheers, Alex
