1.
I just paid the deposit and ordered one through Bass Direct this evening.
Well that just bought up a feeling of ultra GAS that I haven't had in quite some time, good move pal
 2.
Going to stick with the filter first Si, just questioning the science. I've got a octaver on the way too, After the compressor I think?
Yup, that's how I like it
 3. I've found that some older filters prefer a compressed signal to keep them smoother. But generally I prefer filter first and do that with my modern ones.
 4. I bought a Pedaltrain Nano from Dan, friendly and all good. Plus, there was absolutely nothing satanistic about the deal... I think...
 5. Probably sound better on the BTB1206 I'm selling as it has a 35 inch scale. Me, plugging? Never...
 6.
OMG!! Your beginnings must have been "interesting". I was reading on another forum a thread where some guy was talking with envy about how great it must have been "back in the day" when you had to save for weeks to buy a record and having to struggle to find it on sale. He really has no idea.
That'd just be far too patient for today's culture My first bass was a cheap Rockwood, good for that time, but no mojo like yours.
 7. Your first bass is way cooler than my first bass, have fun with it
 8.
Beautiful! What do the knobs do?
Cheers Cosmo, they are treble and bass passive tone controls.
 9.
Hi. I live in Lincolnshire, but if you find a way to courier it, I will be up for the sale. Regards, Paddy.
Thanks Paddy, really sorry that I'm not able to sort this out at the moment
 10. Grolsh style ones are great....until they start wearing out, which very nearly ruined a lovely bass of mine. Then again, maybe the size of the vintage strap button was to blame as I was often removing the strap? Either way, 'proper' locks for me these days. Edit - and very necessary IMO
 11.
You could always get a fretless neck to suit, then if you're still not happy with it, sell the lot as a set. Seen it done that way before.
True, would definitely work well for some, but I'd prefer to avoid the hassle of bitsers tbh
 12.
I pass through Harrow on my travels and also meander through much of the South of this island for work. So if anyone is interested and want it collected and delivered, feel free to let me know. I can also do a "cash on collection" and get the money to our bro, Chilliwailer, if you're worried about such things.
Sincerest of thanks brother, I really am quite taken back by that incredible offer. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to post at the moment so your generosity is very humbly appreciated. Top man
 13.
That is a really good price. I just sold one elsewhere and got 50 quid more than what you are asking.Had plenty of interest in it too. The passive ones don't seem to be seen as much either. lovely bass..... GLWTS!
Cheers pal, it almost seems silly selling it considering what you get for the price. But then again I have a SR5 and Modulus Flea so it's kinda covered anyway, I'm basically just scared of ripping out the frets and then changing my mind!
 14. Having shared some emails with Chris recently I am really am gutted for him that this is up for sale, but totally understand the dilemma he's been facing. I'm even more gutted that I don't have the funds to buy it back, I never wanted to sell it in the first place but the cash was needed elsewhere. I also used to own the CS55 that Chris has pictured and is keeping, that is an incredible bass with no faults at all, but I actually bonded more with the original 57 P Bass, it is special and full of vintage history mojo. Bargain for the right BC'er hope it sells soon so I can stop pondering how to get it back
 15. Up for grabs is a passive USA made Stingray S.U.B. Bass. Most of you already know, these are the discontinued ones that Ernie Ball ended up losing money on, the quality is outrageously good for the money. These aren't made in the East like the newer Sterling SUBS. The output on this one is HUGE, it matches my active Stingray 5 and sounds exactly like a Stingray should. Loads of growl and thump, beautiful Stingray mids and highs, jumps through the mix. Honestly, you'd think it was active when plugged in as it has a great big tone. I bought this with a view to defret it, but now I'm not 100% sure if I want a fretless Stingray or Jazz, decisions decisions.... In great condition, just the odd mark on the headstock and set up great. The colour is Burgundy, it changes in the light so I've taken a few different photos. It's a gorgeous colour. Unfortunately can't post right now, so it's collection only please. £350 for a USA made killer bass... Nice Cheers. 16. Always a pleasure to deal with, on a personal level he's a top man and always good to hear from. Enjoy the strings brother

 18. Great stories up there, got a few myself. First up is a Keith Levene, met him in 1999 and we instantly clicked and saw each other regularly. About 10 months later when we started to play together I asked him which band he used to be in, when he said PiL I felt proper foolish, but he absolutely loved that I was his friend for who he was, and not what he used to be. We've been close pals ever since. In 1996 I think, a tramp looking guy came into a guitar shop I worked in, early Monday morning. He asked to play a very pricey dobro, we let him have a play and were all blown away by his playing. He humbley handed it back and said "I'll come back later with my manager". We all thought he was a rock n roll casualty, but he came back with his manager and a BBC film crew, turns out it was Peter Green getting ready for the Splinter Group. Such a lovely man, a bit odd, but a real pleasure to meet. I was once joking with another customer about capo's, he started it off and was funny as f***. When he left my mates were like "that's Mike Myers". Top bloke he was. I'll probably remember more later, 12 years in Denmark Street threw up some great celeb and muso stories.
 19. That's a stunner. I've no idea why, but out of the many pre CBS basses and guitars I've played 60-61 have always been the most special for me. I'll be YouTube'ing how to rob banks later.
 20.
Thanks for all you replies, opinions and advice guys. I am pretty keen on the MXR micro custom shop model, so I might give that a bash....unless some of you know better.... Cheers
I used to have one to balance my active and passive basses. I should have known better than to sell it, great pedal
 21.
Collection from where my friend?
I'm in Harrow, NW London / Middx. Cheers.
