  1. This year I've actually sold more than I've bought which is a novelty. 3 out, one in, though the one in is special to me and by default has to be my 'best' purchase.
  2. My most gigged bass is a Squier Mikey Way Mustang, it could do with a slightly hotter pickup (to make it perfection), but 200 gigs in it's standing the test of time and owes me bugger all.
  3. Forgot to mention, I really think the JMJ Mustang is a future classic, one of the best Fenders I’ve played regardless of scale length and country of manufacture - and that includes my previously owned 1982 big logo JV 57 P bass.
  4. Erm, it’s shorter. I gig all the time with a shortie, easier to get around the board, I just put a gauge up on the strings to tighten things up to more comparable to my long scales. Sound wise, I actually prefer my jmj Mustang to previous Fender Jazz/P basses I’ve gigged in the past.
  5. Trade offers by pm only
  6. Very nice, always astounded at the low used values of G&L when the quality is up there with EBMM etc. I'd have had this but I set my limit at 9lb these days....damn rotator cuff.
  7. I'm wondering that too. In my formative years it was active to the max, new strings all the time, lots of HiFi etc, but now often as not I reach for my trusty JMJ Mustang, back off the tone and just play. I have a new Status CW sig S2 that I love and will never sell for sentimental reasons but I often think it's the bass I would have died for 30 years ago...
  8. Hi Ben, is it gloss or satin finished, only asking as I thought the performers were satin?
  9. As Rich says, with powerful pups like this if the pole pieces are too close to the strings you can get strange 'wolf tones'. I've got to do an adjustment on my MM Sterling 4H for the same reason.
  10. Great price for one of these. If it was a 4 I’d be in the divorce court.....
  11. Trade offers by pm only thanks.
  12. At a jamnight I'm normally happy enough to let someone use my bass (I normally take a roadworn JMJ Mustang) but for a gig.......it would really depend if I knew them or not. I was once asked to loan a Status bass to a guy going before us on a multi-band line up and refused as he was 3 sheets to the wind on God knows what. My instinct was clearly right as the loan bass he managed to acquire hit the stage floor about 5 numbers in.
  13. You don't see them in this colour often. A steal at that price!
  14. There yer go. If anyone wants any decent pics I’ll ask the wife to take them as I’m particularly bad at taking pics......
  15. Well......I had this one up for sale a couple of years back but withdrew it. However for shortscale duties I tend to find I'm more familiar with my brace of Mustangs so this one generally gets left gathering dust. If you're looking then you know what these are, very lightweight 'masonite' construction with very powerful lipstick pups. They really do punch above their weight. This is one of the later reissues, as far as I can tell identical to the current model and this one is the fetching copperburst finish. There are no marks, scratches, dings or otherwise on the bass, it's pretty much as new. It's strung with D'addario flats which are barely played in and really do suit the bass. I don't have a case or gigbag for this one so it is collection or close meet up only. I will entertain trades, something 4 string and precision/jazz type in good condition with cash your way. Pics will be added later......but it looks pretty much like this!
  16. You can go off somebody tha knows.....
  17. Even the Sterling isn’t a lightweight Ped, I’m on my 3rd and it’s the lightest I’ve had at smack on 9lb. With the smaller body, headstock and neck profile you’d have thought it’d be a fair bit better than it is. I’m sure there are some lightweight ones out there, maybe it’s just keep looking. That said I still think the Sterling is one of the nicest neck profiles out there.
  18. That's just being greedy.........
  19. Some truly awesome basses there Warren. If I could sell a kidney the one it would be funding is the purple Modulus!
  20. We're waiting with baited breath mate.....I'm assuming a 4000 word dissertation is on the cards?
  21. I ended up paying over the odds from a retailer 4 years ago for a Mikey Way Sig - shallow I know but wanted the colour scheme for the 70s Glam Band. While it goes against the grain to pay what I did I haven't seen many turn up since and certainly not at a better price. It punches above it's weight for what it is but I do wish it had the same pup as the JMJ Mustang - that's a lovely pup.
  22. I suppose of the 3 'sigs' I have the JMJ was the one I bought 'unplayed' on the basis of the great reviews. I couldn't see the JMJ spec in any of the other new Mustangs at the time and the sound of the SD pup sold it to me. I hadn't a clue who Justin Meldal Johnsen was but I did like the bass. BTW, if you haven't played one do try to, while it's a 30" scale the neck is more of a handful than a standard Mustang, more precision than Jazz. I like it but if the thicker profile is why you're now not enjoying the p?
