1. I am sure Lemmy will be reading these comments and thinking that perhaps some people are right, and quit henceforth , I hope not though.
2. Nobody. There are just a lot of rock stars around. They are all different.
3.
Daltrey can still belt it out, he must be getting on for 70, what a comparison to Lemmy the other night a similar age.
I looked it up earlier. He is 71. He doesn`t look it to be fair
4. I am enjoying them. I can hear the bass ok through my soundbar. Daltrey`s voice is better than i was expecting. The last time i heard him live, it sounded like his voice was shot
5. I thought the last song by Lionel was a letdown
6.
Independent, Telegraph and Guardian seemed to love it...
The Guardian gave 3 stars, and most comments are negative. From the review that they had written, i am not sure where the 3 stars came from. True that the Independent liked it. The Telegraph only gave 3 stars. not really sounded like they loved it that much. Just very average, from the greatest ever living rock star.
7. Having watched quite a bit of the set on Youtube, i think it was lucky that Jay Z was the first rapper to play Glastonbury. If Kanye had been the first ever rapper, i don`t think anymore would have been invited back. I don`t like rap, but Jay Z was a great success in my opinion( not that it is worth that much). Sadly, Kanye just bombed for me. There doesn`t seem to be many positive reviews anywhere on the net either.I think the BBC liked him, but i think they are either contractually obliged to be nice, or they are easily impressed.
8. What was the karaoke version of Bohemian Rapsody all about? I just watched it. Truly awful
9. I had the choice of that, or learn a Deep Purple song. Didn`t take me long, but it was always going to be more enjoyable
10. Congratulations.
11. After reading the comments on here, i was expecting Motorhead to be so bad , that i nearly didn`t bother. Glad i did, i thought they were good
12. I have plans to store my amp in the shed. Surely it should be ok with insulated walls and boarded out, wouldn`t it?
13. I have supported it. I think it is a good idea, especially if you like the band in question.
14. Planet Rock on the radio if i am working around rthe house, a CD in the car, or Youtube videos. Joanne Shaw Taylor is my latest discovery.
15. I suppose the only way to find out, is buy another bass and try it out. There have been a number of discussions about this, and both for and against. I have 2 basses , and they sound different. Whether it is tone , resonance, or what, i have no idea.
16. I will never sell my clover avenger. My first bass.
17. Not a lot happens in Cirencester , so i am surprised it took them this long to remember him. http://www.wiltsglosstandard.co.uk/news/13319898.Plaque_will__commemorate_Cirencester_rock_legend_Cozy_Powell/?ref=fbshr
18. Sorry for the question, but how can you tell it is not an electric bass? Still very much a learner here. It is a funky bassline though. I don`t like the song, but i am getting better at just listening to just the bass.
19.
so my next Shakin Stevens post is a no goer for you.?
As we have to listen to both Christmas records come November 30th, I have to say i prefer Shaky`s effort more than Wham`s. It is also surprising that Shaky was in the top 40, 33 times in his career.
20. I won`t knock George Micheal`s solo stuff. Again, not my cup of tea, but his talent as a writer and singer can`t be denied. I just saw Wham as a cheesy band that firmly belonged in the 80`s. I understand the appeal to the older people who like Wake Me Up, but i will always turn the radio down if that cames on. His solo stuff was much more refined and mature.
21.
they definitely were not an awful band. yep they wrote some pop mediocre, but they also wrote some fantastic pop records. this being one of them .. great bass line and a great record . George Micheal is and has always been a very good piano and guitar player and a writer of some of the best pop music ever.love Don's great slap line and finger style. i think some disregard the skill underneath these records. although not to ones taste, the records like carless whisper, everything she wants, are remembered for a reason. written by George Micheal.
You can give all the examples that you want. In my opinion, they were an awful band. Club Tropicana is one of the examples i would give to highlight just how bad they were. You might look upon them with affection, i look upon them as everything that was wrong with music in the 80`s. Just listening to the 2 examples above for 5 seconds sent shudders through my body. On the other hand, the musicians behind the band, as ever with these type of bands, the people behind them are the real talent.
22. Good interview. I was surprised that Wham had decent musicians behind them. The thing that filled me with dread was when he said there was talk of a Wham reunion. They really were an awful band
23. Why should you worry. It is his bass.
24.
No Larry, no slap.
Perhaps that was the reason
