1.
Lol, the harp player at a jam I used to frequent used a large tweed covered bassman combo, it was the biggest amp on the stage, bloody racket!
My band's harp man has one of these too, far too bloody loud with the master volume at 1. Just last week I was told some people (one of them another harp player) walked out of one of our gigs as the harp was painful to listen to (and too bloody loud as well!).
2. I usually wear designer shirts. Unfortunately, the designer is the Wychwood brewery.
3.
Yes! Mind you, I'm not deliberately excluding them, either...
So I can keep my white P bass....I'd be lost without it
4.
Not any more!
Free at last!!
5.
What I learned in 2014: You don't have to exclusively restrict yourself to white basses.
You don't???
6. My only change last year was to buy a second ABM500 as a backup when the first developed a fault.
7. Fortunately we don't have a gig this NYE. I say fortunate as both our drummer and singer are laid up (separately!) with some kind of lurgy.
8. I use a Barefaced super twin 212 and our drummer is a hard hitter, rarely need to turn the amp (Ashdown ABM 500) more than 1/3 up on the master volume. Far better than the Ashdown 410 I had before that, and certainly an unimaginable improvement on the 215 I used in the 70s.
9. These are great combos, I use one at rehearsals and some pub gigs. I thought mine was a bargain at £90!
10. Now there's a coincidence, I was just listening to our new version of 'Born under a Bad Sign' when I saw your post. My wife and I holiday in Northumberland at least once a year, some great pubs and great food up there!
11. 2015 will see the start of the third year of The Wirebirds and our second year with Jenn Haan. Hopefully I will be saying the same thing (with fourth and third years instead) this time next year as the chemistry is great at the moment. We played 36 gigs this year and hope to play more than that next year. More gigs, more studio time, and more gigs are the plans for the coming year.
12. I think this is an historically important instrument as the P bass heritage is clearly visible as Fender evolves towards the J. Or perhaps not.
13. Our last gig of the year. bit of a remote pub but managed to drag in enough to make it worthwhile. Nothing booked for next year yet, so feel a bit strange with an empty diary and no idea what the new year holds.
14. Three dozen gigs this year, most of them with Jenny Haan. I had hoped that her joining the band would lead to more interest and work, but that hasn't happened yet.
15. I've used my Ashdown 180 112 combo for small pub gigs and it holds up fine. Paid £90 for mine a couple of years ago.
16. I need a drink after seeing that. In fact, I need several drinks, I need to completely erase its existence from my memory.
17. I've not looked at it today, I was getting ready to delete the account and that's probably a bad idea having put so many hours in already. I did suggest we found someone who knows what they are doing but asking me is free.... Will discuss with ms Singer at next rehearsal!
18. I had a white 301 in the late 70s, great sounding bass.
19. I always take a spare bass, just a Squier P, but I always tune it ready for a quick change over just in case.
20. Thanks, I was concerned it might must be me! Yes, I have synced to our Facebook page, but it has slowly dawned on me that that only works the app, if i post an update and 'sync to Facebook' it appear on my own page and not the band's.
21. Thanks, Phil, that reminds me that I forgot to tell her about it!
22. I was asked to set up a ReverbNation page for our band recently, and have been struggling to get it working. I am no computer whizz, but manage the band's diary, facebook, email, etc (obviously, as I am the bass player!). One of the attractions of ReverbNation is its ability to sync posts, music, pic, etc across other sites, but I am having trouble getting it to post to Facebook. Yesterday I uploaded a song to ReverbNation and it appeared on Facebook, also a pic, but now can't get a status update about a gig to post at all. Any ReverbNation gurus around?
23. When I read the thread title I was expecting another Barefaced waiting list saga! The closest I can get to Swedish is to say ' tervetuloa Suomesta' (though in fact I left Finland 2 years ago)
24. My band is not a covers band, it is a band which creatively reinterprets a variety of well-known songs
25. I hate to jump on a rolling bandwagon, but OBBM work for me too.
