The TC BH series - mainly because with the toneprint you can dial in/out a couple of excellent compressors to suit your different styles. And it has a built in tuner. Perfect for the job IMO. In fact I’m sure I didn’t pay more than £400 for my BH800...

Originally fretless, very rare to find a five string of this age. Delta Metal fretboards were standard on four strings, but could be optionally ordered without. The body is walnut I think, you could always strip it back!- 17 replies

Yes they changed to the metal ones at some point, not sure when. I do have some of the old style ones though which I’ll probably put on. Glad you’re getting on with yours!

1991, black and maple. Quite worn in places but it was a bargain and the neck sounds fine - think it's in customs now so will sit tight for the tax ransom letter

Basses of that calibre hold their value (unlike many custom builds) and if you can afford the price of admission (second hand) you rarely lose money buying and selling them unless you’re in a massive rush. It seems that most people aren’t, but eager to try the next one along when the opportunity arises. Good clean fun if you ask me.

Hm so the bass arrived in the UK on the 20th but since then it’s disappeared from Patcelfarce’s tracking. Jolly good. I wasn’t expecting it to be here any time soon/ever so I live in hope. Not surprised in the slightest.

Yeah it was mostly tongue in cheek but upon flicking through a digital copy it did strike me as mostly Fender based. Obviously I skipped the Ricken*****r pages 😎

Mine all live in a rack on my desk, but the rack has a lid so they're covered (It looks like a coffin) The mini bass is always chilling in the lounge so I can easily grab it and have a noodle whilst I'm watching Love Island
