  1. That's me. And it's all about playing with others to the best of our ability and the reward at gigs that comes from the effort we all made. I just need to find a decent band to join now ...
  2. Arrrghhhhhh! I can't begin to think of words to describe how awful that is! Sometimes a radio is on in the kitchen at work, or I hear this sort of dros muzac in the local shop .... and there are people singing along to it - they know the words and everything, which leaves me horrified!
  3. Doing a YouTube search of 'worst band' gives hours of enjoyment 🙂 I always had a soft spot for the Porstmouth Sinfonia 🙂 I think the criteria for joining was that you had to play an instrument you hadn't played before or was new to you. And who could ever forget Florence Foster Jenkins?
  4. My ancient Marshall JMP 100 head used to make the same soundfor a short while when it was first switched on and then be ok until next time. I took it to my tech, I think I remember him saying it was mains capacitors. It's been ok since.
  5. The same here as some others have already said - I've probably never played less in my life. Since our band folded late last year I feel so demotivated and with seemingly no prospect of finding a quality band to join, I just feel like what's the point. Not at all like me usually, but that's where I am.
  6. I lasted about 20 seconds with Brokencycle - and that was pushing it ... no pun intended 🙂
  7. I'm not sure if this is the same lot in a different expanded incarnation. Even if it isn't, they're very brave to have gigged it! 🙂
  8. I know I've posted this one previously on another thread, but this is so bad 🙂 What really makes me smile is the look they give each other at the end that says 'yeah, nailed it' 🙂
  9. And another vote for my go-to supplier of Neutrik and Van Damme
  10. Count me in for 2021 - I've no interest or intention of buying anything apart from maybe a set of strings if I can find another band when we are eventually allowed to mingle. I haven't even picked up a bass (or g***ar) since our band folded late last year because of a shite drummer and we couldn't find a replacement good enough for the originals band it was. I just feel disillusioned and fed up with it all after 40+ years. Sooooo, 100% no chance of buying anything.
  11. The lippy pickups (passive) on my Flashback are anything but weak - very full sounding and easily sit well in a three-piece rock band when I feel like giving her an outing. Ok, here's a gratuitous Fortress family photo 🙂
  12. Thanks, Matt I only tried the several Hiscox cases I already have which contain various Warwicks and a couple of P,. I'm guessing they are probably the standard cases. I ddn't want to risk buying another Hiscox in case it didn't fit so I did a search on here and found a post showing someone's Rick in a Thomann case. For the money it's a very solid case. Cheers Dave
  13. If you're in the Potteries you won't get better than Doug Wilkes for repairs or custom builds - a true craftsman in every sense. He built a guitar for Dave Gilmour. http://wilkesguitars.co.uk/
  14. I have Hiscox for most of mine but my 4001 doesn't fit so I bought one of these from Thomman. They are excellent, especially for the price. https://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_ebasscase.htm
  15. Yep, I really love my Flashback. Mine doesn't have position markers.
  16. I used a Trace 1x15 with a 2x10 on top for years and it sounded perfectly good to my ears. It wasn't until I tried replacing the 1x15 with a (TE) 4x10 that I found I preferred that setup, and is what I use now. Do it; you'll be just fine.

  18. Same here - I'm sure we all have the 'if only' stories. As you say, local music shops used to have lots of 60s Fenders and Gibsons for around £200 or so. The thing I kick myself for almost weekely is that in the 70s I was playing in a band with an older (late 20s ha ha) guy who had plenty of money for gear. I was playing lead in that band, and me been a teen with not much money, he used to lend me on a long-term basis, his '66ish red Strat - it was lovely. He offered to sell it to me for £200, but I thought I might as well buy a new one for around that much ..... aaarghhhh!!!!!!!!!
  19. One of my all time guitar heroes - so sad another true great has gone. I was lucky enough to meet him after a local gig and he was such a nice guy, very happy to chat, sign autographs and have a photo taken.
  20. This has long been my 'favourite' for the worst cover ever - I can't see how it could get any worse! I like at the end, the look that says 'nailed it'. Enjoy 🙂
  21. I bought this by mistake from Thomman years ago thinking I'd bought a cover for my TE 4x10. I don't know what model it's actually for but as you can see from the photos it's a bit taller than my 4x10 (which is on wheels) and has handle holes on the top back which suggestes to me tilt-back handles, but also has handle holes on the sides. It also has a cutout at the bottom on the back which again suggests tilt-back - but of course I could be wrong. It measures approx (inches) 33 x 24 x 17. Anyway, if you can use it you can have a never used cover for £25 inc postage. I think this cost me about £40. Thanks
