1. Hmmmm, I see you have a nice little business going with these caps lock keys http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Apple-Pro-Keyboard-1...c#ht_2459wt_922 I am going to report you to eBay for selling the same item through different channels and not offering paypal on your BassChat sale. Bet you don't feel so smug now, con man.
2. Trade for some lightly used Christmas wrapping paper?
3. Mrs C gave me the second-hand Bacchus 62 Jazz in my sig ... well I bought it but she said it was from her and thats good enough for me
4. Without doubt the highest quality instruments I have owned - but had to sell my last one - a Spoiler, one of the more basic models - due to weight (and mine was not one of the heaviest Alembic, at 11 pounds!) The craftsmanship, woodwork, electronics etc were something else. At some point in the future (not immediate) I will own another one if I can find a Spoiler nearer to 9 pounds. I expect lozbass will be along before too long to chip in here as I guess - along with jazzyvee - he owns the most Alembics on BC ...
5. The opening 'jazzy' bass line to Boogie Nights by Heatwave. Nice little warm up exercise methinks. Here's the tab http://www.911tabs.com/link/?4728545 Great outfits! And nice Orange rigs (bass nerd time)
6.
Thanks mate I'm going to save myself a lot of bother by just asking you everything in the first instance as it's generally you who gives me the answer anyway!! MODS- is it possible to get an "Ask Clarky" button on my profile?
The yoda of BassChat am I
7. I did a thread on this a while back Nick http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=stand+nitro I have ended up with T-shirts on a Warwick Rockstand. The only ones that are 'guaranteed' to have non-reactive foam (as far as I can recall) are Hercules stands but I don't like the hanging ones (unstable in my view) and the portable gig one has nothing to prevent the bass tipping forwards
8.
Somehow I Imagine Santa playing one of these..
I suppose someone has to
9. Yeah, I think G & (no) L basses are grotto by comparison
10. I heard he dropped his Fender and moved to a G & (no) L for his Sleigh-er tribute band
11. I am pretty happy with my gear. I could potentially upgrade the fretless if a good price Tony Franklin or sunburst Precision fretless came up for sale but that's it. A more active year gigging tops my wish list, rather than gear
12.
Bah! Drove up to Bassdirect today because I wanted that G & L, but also really wanted to try that 2nd hand Fender '83 FL P. If I liked it I woulda gone for that instead! But, alas, as I was walking towards the hallowed orange unit 12 door, I noticed a distinct lack of footprints leading up to it. I tested the door anyway but no, 'twas not to be! Bloody weather!! Truckstop
Actually, Mark hid behind the door as he had just read on BassChat that you really like Mistletoe and Wine by Cliff Richard!
13.
Surely nobody is so good that they cant learn anything from watching somebody else, even from somebody who can hardly play.
You are forgetting Chuck Norris
14. I predict you would hate Pyramid Gold flats which have a lilac or pale violet colour to the silks. Even the metrosexual Happy Jack thought they looked camp on my Precision!
15. DR Sunbeams, my favourite nickel wounds
16. Its really not false modesty to say that I am competent on bass but no more. Thus I tend to watch other bass players with a mix of envy at their greater facility (except for some of the really cr@p punk bassists I have seen!) but also a vague feeling of brotherhood. I am also a gear stalker so will always check out their bass and rig!
17. Lovely lovely lovely!
18. 2010 has been a tough year for many people (including a number of those on BC) so here is hoping the festive cheer lights up everyone's lives for the next week or two and 2011 turns out to be a year of renewed hope and joy
19.
Dan The scheme is being changed - as of April/May 2011 the scheme will only be available for 16 - 26 year olds. So you old gits need to get a shake on if you want to use it! Mark
I'm 47 so perhaps you will give me a 50% discount on the fretless Wal instead?
20. Bumping this gorgeous bass back to the top. Good luck with the sale Howard. Maybe a few more pics might help shift it (as well as give the rest of us something to salivate over)?
21. I can't resist seafoam green and wanted a good Jazz so I recently bought Chris Kelly's 1990s Bacchus 62 Jazz (which actually started life as sonic blue but has faded over the years). This was previously owned by BCer Artisan (who said it was the best Jazz he had ever played) and I can't believe how good it is. Definitely a cut above the Fender MIA Jazzes I have owned and on a par with the much pricier Custom Shop 64 Jazz I briefly owned. These are Chris' photos when it used to be wearing Rotosound Trubass strings (I think) - its now wearing DR Sunbeams and is a dream to play. 22.
And why is the guy in the middle wearing a romper suit?
So I'm carrying a few extra pounds? Hey its Christmas! Nice beard, Jack
23. Here's Happy Jack, Warwickhunt and I jamming at a recent BassBash
24. I predict a sudden upsurge in sales of double gig bags
25. I had a lovely black Alembic Spoiler (a la Cliff Burton) but had to sell it recently because it weighed 11 pounds. I have a rotator cuff problem in my left shoulder and had a slipped disc around 10 years ago, so its very easy for my back to go into spasm. About 9.5 pounds is as far as I want to go these days and if its less than 9 (like my old 72P and my Pino) all the better. How on earth people manage with some of the 12-13 pound Alembic Series basses I just do not know, unless they bench press!
