Might be an idea to change the OP title to Feedback for Ash! That would help him a bit more in any future deals on BC
-
Oh I dunno, I can't help thinking that ...
Where are you based?
OP says "I'd much prefer for it to be collected from me in Sheffield. Alternatively, I could drop off in say Central London and pay a visit to a friend but I'd need time to work that out." Think your answer is there!

Bit of a tart's handbag but better than bl**dy awful upside down Thunderbird-y Warwick monstrosity!

Alex contacted me recently to see if I would find a top hat useful as an option on a Midget T, so its clearly something he is thinking about. Best drop him a PM methinks
How big a band will you be taking, Clarky?
We will be down drums, guitar, one or two brass and one or two vox, so probably about 9 of us onstage (or offstage!) I guess
Not do-able this time, I'm afraid. That's the day of my mother's interment (the day after her cremation) and I will be on strictly family duties throughout the period.
Sorry to hear that Jack Condolences to you and your family

In answer to your question, by putting most of the band off the stage

Says quietly I wanted to play lead guitar but was too crap and thought the bass looked a lot easier with two less strings and bigger gaps between the frets Fortunately, several of my fave bands at the time featured prominent (and simple) bass lines - Echo & The Bunnymen, Joy Division, A Certain Ratio, 23 Skidoo, Siouxsie & The Banshees etc

We are playing the 12 Bar in Denmark St again on Friday 10th June. I suspect we wil be on early-ish as it's easier for the sound engineer given how many of us there are! That said we will be minus drums and guitar so will have to play to backing tapes .. There will still be about 9 or 10 of us, so you won't be too short-changed! Will update when we have onstage time. Keep it swampy
Sounds good. What's all that worth if you don't mind me asking?
More than I was planning on spending! just over £2k in total: Pickups were £100 each, preamp £200, Wizzy and Mackie cabs I got s/h off BassChat for £200 and £150. The expensive bits were the Clarus (not much change from a grand) and the Midget (about £500, although I use that also for my electric bass rig).

I guess you could use a folding amp stand to similar effect http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=folding+a...04&bih=1237 BTW I ended up returning the Doubler as I felt the Acoustic Image gear was cleaner with a piezo pickup ( there was little/ no difference using a mag pickup to be fair). I then got the new Clarus+ head as it packs 800w as well as two channels and the usual AI functionality and sound. Am very happy with rig now as it can go very loud, very clean and has as good a chance of defeating feedback as I think is possible with a DB. it's now Shadow 950 or Krivo mag pickup > LR Baggs Venue DI preamp > Acoustic Image Clarus+ > EA Wizzy 12 or Midget T, with option of adding Mackie C200 when PA system monitoring is poor
Very useful info, thanks Clarky. What kind of stand was that, and do you think it would take a Midget (no tweeter).
Hi there it was a PA stand like on this link http://www.gak.co.uk/en/mackie-c200-passive-pa-speaker/22604 Funnily enough Alex at Barefaced asked me whether it would be useful to add a 'top hat' hole underneath the Midget for PA use. I am sure he would mod your Midget so that it could work this way - as it stands the Midget won't sit on this sort of stand though

Hi there, sent an email to your Barbican club to see if Rattlin Bone 'lite' (the 6-8 person version) can play in September
-
This is getting to be a habit! I just sold Keith my '71 P/J fretless and as before he was a total gent to deal with
-
The Shuker JJ Burnel is a cracking P bass, better made and sounding than an American Std Fender IMHO

Very cool job you have done there. I love Mani's playing too - very underrated (some really good lines on the Second Coming which was woefully under-appreciated, as well as the more obvious lines like Adored and Resurrection). I once owned a Rick 3000, inspired by Mani, but just couldn't get on with the short scale so ended up selling it.
I just bought an old Wal of mine back, it's a november 87 Shedua fretless.. To be honest though it's not really intended to be a keeper.. I have "problems" with fretless basses which have the dots on the lines along the side, I want to have the dots in the "regular" position like on a fretted bass. It confuses me when I'm playing an I'm a bit lost on the neck.. So actually the plan is to trade this in if possible for a Wal fretless with the dots between the lines.. There's no hurry since I have other fretless basses but if the "right" fretless comes along I wouldn't hesitate. I took some pictures and recorded a short YT-clip (only the back pick-up (position 4, my favourite))
If you like the bass except for the side dots, why not get a good luthier to change the dots? They could add dark wood (ebony?) where the current dots are and add new white dots 'between the frets'. Would be the simplest solution, rather than trust to another bass that may not play as well for you
