  1. I think white basses in general are quieter than other colours. Maybe it’s a tone thing? You’re hearing one as being louder?
  2. I’ve got the TC Unitune. It’s very accurate and reads a low B extremely well. My only gripe with it, which is quite minor really, it doesn’t stay switched on for very long, if you’re tuning from scratch, say after putting new strings on, you’ll need to switch it on a couple of times before you’ve finished.
  3. It’s a beautiful bass. I’m only selling it to buy a 6 string version. I’m in France next week.
  4. I think there are adverts, at least there’s a little box that says advert. I use Adblock so don’t see the content.
  5. Sorry, I’m only interested in 6 string basses. Thanks though. 😊
  6. As a buyer? I bought stuff online and had money refunded by my bank. The first time I’d paid through PayPal as a guest too.
  7. Did it briefly experiment with one? I advertised a bass on there last year. Someone contacted me who turned out to be a total pain in the donkey, he was also extremely rude. He was on here briefly too, a friend of mine had an experience with him. When I looked on Gumtree he had feedback for being abusive and a time waster.
  8. I’m possibly wrong, I certainly haven’t seen in figures backing this up, it’s just my personal experience. I think a lot of people are wise to the pitfalls of buying online, plus they are protected to a large degree, both by PayPal and their banks. I think nowadays it’s the seller who’s more at risk, I think scammers have turned their attention to them. This is particularly the case on Gumtree, at least from my experience. That’s one of the benefits of selling on here, you do kind of know people, or at least know of them. You can see their posts and feedback etc.
  9. I’m actually more worried about being scammed as a seller.
  10. They have that on Talkbass. The for sale section is split into sales in the USA, and those for Europe.
  11. I can understand that. I like to try instruments before I buy them. I’ve also found that my idea of mint condition, can often be at odds with another person's idea of what mint condition means. There’s also the postal and insurance thing.
  12. I’ve never seen anything like that. You’d normally need an interface to convert your analogue signal to a digital signal that your laptop can see. You’ll also need some kind of DAW, something like Reaper.
  13. I love his 7 string playing.
  14. I didn’t realise you were going. How fantastic. I’ve been looking at the photos people I know are sharing on Facebook, it looks wonderful.
  15. Here’s a few more photos. I restrung it today with a set of LaBella black tape-wound strings. I’d been asked to record some bass for a guy, on a couple of jazz tunes. It sounds wonderful, a lovely woody, mellow sound. With nickel roundwounds it’s as funky and agressive as you want. A truly versatile instrument,
  16. The problem with eBay, is unless you have a lot of positive feedback, you’re stuck with a monthly maximum sales level that’s below the value of most reasonable quality instruments, unless you list it as an auction.
  17. Bump for a great seller, and a fantastic cab.
  18. I’ve had more luck on Facebook recently. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern to it, it’s all down to luck, selling the right thing at the right time. I’ve had very little interest on here for my W&T bass. One guy had me take it all the way to London with me, take a trip up to Camden, wait around for an hour while he played it. He then announced that he wasn’t sure because it was a 33” scale and had humbuckers, both of with are clearly mentioned on the advert, he’d also owned a very similar model previously. He said he’d think about it and get back to me, he hasn’t though. My experience of selling through Facebook has been great. Gumtree not so, you do have to watch what you’re doing there. Never post something, never accept PayPal, always insist on cash on collection.
  19. Musicians often play a variety of instruments.
  20. D’Addario use different coloured ball ends identifying the gauge.
  21. I might have. I did a RS instructor course as part of my final year at uni, which was 2015, I’ll have a look.
  22. Skyler Acord? Never heard of him, sounds like a character from Star Wars.
  23. This shows it starting on E at the 2nd fret of the D string. Disclaimer, I’ve never played it, don’t particularly like it, and I’m sat on a train so can’t check the accuracy 😁. Starting on E follows the chords, it moves to B in bar 3.
  24. I’m not sure if they’re closed though. They usually put on Facebook if they’re closed. It might be that whoever’s left behind was busy or something?
