  1. What, you mean you haven’t sat and watched something you didn’t like, then moaned about it online? 😁
  2. I had mine off you too.
  3. I was at ICMP on their BMus with his nephew, who was probably one of the most naturally musically talented people I’ve ever met.
  4. Good idea. An Allen key works well too.
  5. I quite like that. Multi scale instruments don’t suit me though unfortunately, playing chords is difficult on them. A regular fretted one would be very interesting.
  6. So do millions of others. Whilst I don’t necessarily agree with the way the BBC is funded, it doesn’t exist to cater its New Years Eve programmes towards a pretty small demographic; ie twenty or so members on here. I was seeing people on Facebook saying they enjoyed it, lots of people liked Stormzy’s set for instance. Others just liked it because it was happy, and nice to watch on NYE.
  7. What are you all doing in on NYE anyway? Shouldn’t you all be out playing?
  8. Depends what you mean by performing. The bassist is Dave Swift. Look him up, he’s played with pretty much everyone. He’s played with Jools Holland’s band for decades. Touring all over the UK and Europe in the process. He doesn’t jump about, or entertain; that’s not his job. If you don’t like something, then don’t watch it or listen to it. Nowadays you can watch practically anything you want, when you want, so put on something you enjoy, because for every dissenting voice on here, there’s probably hundreds if not thousands across the country who did enjoy it.
  9. Surely the mix that’s heard in the broadcast would have been done over the last week or so, since it was recorded?
  10. I was just reading something about how in experiments non-musicians are actually able to correctly get the temp of a song right, usually within a 4% accuracy. A fascinating book called ‘this is your brain on music’. I guess adrenaline could speed things up a little on a gig though.
  11. I honestly haven’t the slightest idea what you’re talking about 😂.
  12. I had one of these, I’d say it was one of the best instruments I’ve owned. I wonder if this is my old one?
  13. Excellent. I always think it’s better to have done something, than to be able to look back twenty or so years later and wish that you’d done it.
  14. Anthony Jackson and John Patitucci both use a very high action on their instruments. I was watching a video by Janek Gwizdala recently, explaining his switch to using a high action.
  15. It’s not just a bass stand though is it? It’s a work of art, fabulous.
  16. If you don’t like it, then don’t watch it. Quite simple really. I remember a similar thread on here a few years ago, someone criticised the magnificent Dave Swift for ‘not moving around enough’. Then going on to say he personally would have been dancing about all over the place, bum notes and all.
  17. This is why I only ever deal face-to-face with instruments, even when I’m selling. It makes buying/selling harder, but at least both parties get to see and try the instrument first of all. There was one instance last year, I was selling a bass, the buyer was going to collect it from my friend’s house; he was buying an instrument from him too. It all went wrong owing to the courier dropping my instrument off later than he should. So I ended up having to pay for two lots of delivery, once to my friend's house, and then back from there to me.
  18. I’m not familiar with this interface. Has it got switchable inputs, line level and instrument level?
  19. Try using an amp sim, there’s lots to choose from in Logic Pro. You can select from a whole range of amp models and cab configurations. Is the signal light on the interface lightning up when you play?
  20. Are you using an amp sim plugin in your DAW? What DAW are you using by the way?
  21. Anthony Jackson is a monster 6 string player, he’s credited with inventing it. Steve Lawson too is amazing. John Myung is brilliant in more of a progressive metal vein.
