  1. I love his 7 string playing.
  2. I didn’t realise you were going. How fantastic. I’ve been looking at the photos people I know are sharing on Facebook, it looks wonderful.
  3. Here’s a few more photos. I restrung it today with a set of LaBella black tape-wound strings. I’d been asked to record some bass for a guy, on a couple of jazz tunes. It sounds wonderful, a lovely woody, mellow sound. With nickel roundwounds it’s as funky and agressive as you want. A truly versatile instrument,
  4. The problem with eBay, is unless you have a lot of positive feedback, you’re stuck with a monthly maximum sales level that’s below the value of most reasonable quality instruments, unless you list it as an auction.
  5. Bump for a great seller, and a fantastic cab.
  6. I’ve had more luck on Facebook recently. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern to it, it’s all down to luck, selling the right thing at the right time. I’ve had very little interest on here for my W&T bass. One guy had me take it all the way to London with me, take a trip up to Camden, wait around for an hour while he played it. He then announced that he wasn’t sure because it was a 33” scale and had humbuckers, both of with are clearly mentioned on the advert, he’d also owned a very similar model previously. He said he’d think about it and get back to me, he hasn’t though. My experience of selling through Facebook has been great. Gumtree not so, you do have to watch what you’re doing there. Never post something, never accept PayPal, always insist on cash on collection.
  7. Musicians often play a variety of instruments.
  8. D’Addario use different coloured ball ends identifying the gauge.
  9. I might have. I did a RS instructor course as part of my final year at uni, which was 2015, I’ll have a look.
  10. Skyler Acord? Never heard of him, sounds like a character from Star Wars.
  11. This shows it starting on E at the 2nd fret of the D string. Disclaimer, I’ve never played it, don’t particularly like it, and I’m sat on a train so can’t check the accuracy 😁. Starting on E follows the chords, it moves to B in bar 3.
  12. I’m not sure if they’re closed though. They usually put on Facebook if they’re closed. It might be that whoever’s left behind was busy or something?
  13. Mark is in LA for NAMM.
  14. I'm selling a five string bass that Nick showed an interest in. I was due to travel London, and said that as long as he was definitely interested then I would take it along with me. I spent the day carrying it about, and then travelled to Camden to meet him, (this actually being in the complete opposite direction to the station I was catching my train from). After waiting for an hour while he played the instrument, he then announced that he was unsure about it. The reasons: it was a 33" scale instrument, and it had dual-coil pickups. Both of these were clearly stated in my advert, and we'd talked about these 'issues' beforehand. I fully understand that you want to be sure that an instrument is right for you before buying it, but if you know that it's a 33" scale bass, and that it has dual coils, then why ask someone to go out of their way so you can try it? I suspect he just wanted to try the bass, and in reality had little intention in actually buying it. It's also more than just a little bit annoying that there has been no further contact from him, despite him promising that he would think about it and get in touch. I would advise not going out of your way if you're selling something, let him come to you.
  15. It’s odd, I can remember phone numbers of relatives from when I was a child, and dates of birth too. I’m like a walking diary. Songs and music though I really struggle.
  16. It’s an amazing accomplishment though. It’s not just the notes, it’s all the tempo markings, dynamics and all the other notations. It looks like it turned him into a bit of a monster to work with though. I’d have been off out the door, probably in floods of tears 😁
  17. Last bump before BD on commission. Open to all reasonable offers. Can also deliver, as long as you’re not a total time waster like the guy last week.
  18. Trade for my W&T?
  19. Photos please. 😁
  20. That’s something the book mentioned. We tend to learn in segments, even though we can play a particular bar or section perfectly, we sometimes struggle to play it in isolation, and need to play the bar or even a few bars approaching it beforehand.
  21. That was like me at uni. I could remember what I needed to play for the time I needed it, then immediately forgot it.
  22. That’s actually my favourite Rush song too. There’s a nice live version of that on live in Rio.
  23. It’s actually quite at odds with the impression I had from listening to their 1980s music, which was my introduction to them. In that they’re anti-war and pro-environmental. It’s the road of life isn’t it? Full of twists and turns, and wrong turnings.
  24. I was an occasional listener. They were certainly very good musicians. I prefer their roll the bones era music, which is the period when I was introduced to their music. I wasn’t to keen on their more recent music, and never liked their earlier music at all. Apparently their 2112 album was based on the writings of Ayn Rand, who was a pro-ultra right wing writer. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/may/13/rush-nme-interview-1978-rocks-backpages?fbclid=IwAR0QircyeWOvyTCZpnwoim3CZBpJvSvz6ELVom8xmdUsK4zzEfc4uNPiBHc
