1. Thought there might be issues like that...for what it is worth and the hassle involved think I will sit this busking session out unless I find a reasonable cheap solution by the 19th
2. I have been asked to busk for oxjam with my band and need a way of powering my rig. Found this on maplin's site, would this be any good to power an amp? I would be using a little 10 or 20W peavey practice amp since the others and unplugged so volume is not an issue. I may at some point however decide to use this with my Orange bass terror and barefaced midget rig, I know this is more than 200W but would it be ok to use if I didnt turn it up too high? Thanks guys Dan
3. Keep an eye out for a Peavey Black Widow, probably the best really cheap cab you can pick up
4. Thanks, yeah slight contrast was the plan, kind of a semi-lined fretless.
5. Thanks. Will get used to playing it (first fretless) and then post a few clips
6. I acquired a Harley Benton bass in a trade recently, took a bit of setting up but it is not a bad instrument. An acoustic bass is of some use to me as I play in an acoustic riot/folk punk style band but I tried it out fretted and whilst fun it didn't quite give me the sound I wanted. I really want a double bass but I have neither the funds or the time to learn so my cunning plan was to defret the acoustic and string it with a set of flats I had lying around. Have to say I am pleased with the results. here's the bass I started out with pliers and a soldering iron to heat them but the frets where so badly fitted they popped out just using a knife The grooves weren't cut to the edge of the neck and were uneven, to make the edges visible as a playing guide and to make gluing in the filling veneer easier I extended each slot I used black walnut veneer (a whole £1 from ebay) to fill these slots. For anyone else trying this make sure the grain is parallel no perpendicular to the neck, makes trimming much easier (learn from my mistake) I trimmed these back with a scalpel and then sanded them flush with the fretboard careful not to affect the radius To finish it I applied three coats of Danish oil using an old t-shirt, letting it cure for at least 4hrs between coats and finishing it with 000 wire wool Applied a couple of coats to the bridge too to keep it matching the fretboard Strung with d'addario chromes and setup tweaked I am happy with the result, sounds not to disimilar to a double bass and is easy enough to play. Next step is to find out what the hell is rattling around the machine heads and fix that then file down the saddle height a little.
7. Late to the party but I have been looking at this for a current project and there is a guy on ebay selling radius blocks
8. It is a great head, I sold it to him I should know
9. Orange Terror Bass is bloody fantastic with my midget. Sounds great and easy to transport. Can only imagine it would sound even better with the 15"
10. No trades, I am poor PMs replied to
11. My Lakland is Lily and my Dingwall is Bertha
12.
you want to exchange with warwick corvette 6string????
Nope sorry, got one lovely 6er and that will do me for the moment, really just a sale I am looking for.
13. Yup! Solid and one hell of a beaut. The Korean models are meant to be higher quality than the more recent ones and I can't argue with that (bought this over buying a new Laky)
14. 55-02, beautiful to play and very versatile, the MM pick up is split-able into either a Humbucker or either of the singles so there is a wide range of tones. Infact...buy mine

16. Ah my territory I play a Dingwall Afterburner I 6 string, 37 - 33.25" fan. Joy to play. The point is that it gives you an immense sounding tight low B yet a supple and mellow sounding high C. Each string has an optimum scale length and sounds all the better for it, the 37" low string scale also allows me to pull off a meaty low A drop tuning. Very easy to play and takes no time to get used too, honest. Prefer it to any other 6 I have played, Sei's, Overwaters and other such quality instruments included (not saying they where bad by any means of course). Also a lot of fun for confusing the audience...especially at punk gigs!

19. LAKLAND Wonderful basses, the 5501 and 5502s are comfortable to play and a great tonal variety. Try one in your area...then by my 5502 from me to save on pennies
