1. yeah noticed as soon as I had posted that I had made that typo, corrected it but obviously not updated when you read it
2. Money is tight and my Dingwall is getting all the loving so sadly this has to go. Lovely bass, one of the earlier Korean models and is fantastic quality in very good nic. Probably know the blurb but it is: 5 string, 35" scale Maple neck Natural finish J MM pickup setup (Barts) 3 band EQ Coil selector for MM (neck - MM - bridge) Comes with black scratch plate but it is not screwed on, held in by friction. No chance of it falling off but means the bass is unmarked beneath. Looking for £750 +p&p which is what I paid for it (from Thornybank (Chris) on here last September)
3. I would be up for it but with my 4th year of a MEng degree and two bands underway can't really help with the organising
4.
Ad, the best match I've found is the Barefaced Midget. That angry 1x12 sound complements the Terror Bass buzz-saw tone really well. I did a 3-set gig on Saturday night using that combination, and my P-basses have never sounded so good. Compact? Most people think it's my personal monitor and ask "Where's your cab?". So long as your next gig doesn't clash with mine, you're welcome to borrow it for a night if you want.
Terror Bass + Midget = Awesomeness! It is a fact.
5. Those Peaveys are nice basses.
6. New Orange tiny terror is one loud little amp and sounds sweet to, about £450 so would leave you a fair bit to spend on a cab.
7.
very often "can they use your gear?" questions are retorical ones, IME.
I've said no before. Playing with a crappy emo/hardcore punk band once and the guys asked in advance could they use my amp and cab and I said no. I aint entrusting my expensesive electronics to someone who is potentially a hamfisted imbecile!
8. I am the opposite, I get hassle from the guys I play with some times for being a gear snob and insisting on using my gear. "There is an amp there so you don't need yours" "Yeah but it aint MY amp"
9. I have to come try this some time! Needing some setup work done by your fine self some time anyhoo so I will be in touch soon when funds are on the up.
10. i'll have it if you are going to burn it, can trade you an acoustic bass
11.
Are low riders more zingy? I presumed they'd be more thumpy and ermm low
the Lo refers to the high tension design allowing you to achieve very low action without fret buzz. I finf the nice and punchy without too much brightness, edgier that roto nickles though
12. I am cool with folk trying my bass, believe everyone should try a Dingwall at least once, BUT ONLY IF THEY ASK! If I came in to find someone playing my baby without permission I would have to go Chuck Norris on their ass!
13. Could try some punchier strings, DR lowriders are my preference
14. If it is a courier it could arrive anytime before 5.
15. That is a real shame, I have had nothing but good experiences with Overwater. Give them a phone they are really nice guys.
16. This combined with the Warwick fiasco last year just goes to show: you don't f*ck with Basschat!
17. Just chip in: Very good amps these: loud, light and sound fantastic. Good price too.
18. I would buy it if it wasnt for the gold hardware
19. These are nice basses, someone take it off his hands, I would but I am skint and already have a 5502
20. Consider a Lakland 5502 (or 01 if you can't gather the funds). Second hand you should be able to get one for £700-750 and they are fantastic 5 strings. Jazz pup at the neck and a MM style at the bridge but you can select either of the coils independantly for jazzier tones.
21. Acquired an acoustic bass last month and I am restringing it wil better strings but I can't get the pins to stay in the bridge when I am tensioning the string. Am I doing something wrong? I am dropping the ball end in and then inserting the pin as hard as possible ensuring the ball is still in contact with the base of the pin. Got the E to stay but now onto the A and as soon as I pull on the string the pin pops back out. HELP! Thanks
22. A good core tone just gives a better start and means the bass is going to be predisposed to sounding good. They say say you can't polish a turd but if it was already shiny to start you wouldn't have to try so hard.
23. And I am 21 today, obviously all good bassists are born 29th of January
24. Next query: Do the valves have to match? Is it a case of two 12AX7 or two 12AT7 or could you use one of each? And if so what would happen?
25. You enjoying it then? Glad to hear it. I am actually really liking the acoustic bass that was included in the sale/trade. Finding it great for jamming to stuff on my computer whilst my amp is in the other room and I am meeting up with some of the guys in my band this weekend for a folk session. Pleasure doing business with you
