1.
Maybe a local basschatter could help you out
If you are needing a set up on the new one when it arrives give me a shout. I'd be happy to have a look at it and set it up for you on the cheap. By no means a pro tech but I set up all my own basses plus a fair few of my friends basses and guitars and I am always happy to help a fellow basschatter.
2. I think what Foxen meant was that the magnets do not really need potted. I personally would test fit the magnets dry and if you like the sound then more securely fit them using epoxy.
3. RS have stores so you could collect, I assume the additional cost you have quoted there is their ridiculous postage price. If that doesn't suit you could try Farnell, still have to pay high postage if they have it but it will be less than RS (I think)
4. Out of interest what size where the magnets in your pickup and where are you getting the replacement Alnicos? I am currently sourcing parts for a build and finding the right size of Alnico bar magnets is proving to be pain
5. Wow didn't quite get how small it is till the last pic! Until then the body looked kind of Curbow sized. Does the low E even go around the tuner? In the second pic it just looks like it is bent round and slotted through.
6. Sold Dave my DIgitech BSW and he was a great guy to deal with. Good comms and quick payment made for a painless sale.

14.
What is the price dude? You might as well tell me now you tease
I linked the sale thread in my post, selling it with a change of valves and power supply, have a look
15. The DHA's are great for what you are looking for and I'm not just saying that because I am selling mine http://basschat.co.uk/topic/216181-fsft-dha-vt2-twin-eq-std-valves/
16. [s]Hi Looking to sell my DHA VT2 Twin EQ, great pedal/pre/DI but much more than I need at the moment. I bought it from tredders on here at the start of the year, it is in perfect working condition with only a little damage to the paint on the base where feet/velcro have been removed. New rubber feet cost pennies and I haven't had any issues using it without so far. Selling the pedal with the DHA power supply, the original EHX 12AX7 valves and a set of NOS Mullard ECC82 valves I have fitted.[/s] SOLD Thanks
17.
Defo agree with this, saw them at Finsbury Park a couple of years back (where he was using a Lakland JO interestingly...) and his sound was poor! Wooly and absolutely no definition...
Sounds was shocking all round at that show, not to say it wasn't awesome though
18. also be worth checking there aren't any internal trim pots on the pre-amp, there may be a volume/gain one inside the bass
19. also you could check that the inside isn't just dirty, I did a setup for someone who's guitar was crackley and cutting out and it turned out the inside of the jack socket had corroded from sweaty fingers on the jack. I took a little brasso on a cotton bud to it and it was good as new. Could also be a perfectly good socket with a loose connection somewhere.
20. Thanks for the encouragement guys, might take me a month or two to get started (I am skint at the moment and can't use my right arm after breaking my collar bone and elbow) but when I do get going I will make sure to do a little build diary. Will probably do a build diary for the bass too, going to build it from scratch with a friend as we are starting a wee luthiery side project.
21. Hi guys. I am currently toying with the idea of building a Fenderbird style bass. One of the things I really want for it is chrome covered pickups ala classic Thuderbirds but these aren't really available unless you can afford Lulls/Thunderbuckers/Custom Seymour Duncans. Whilst this is a custom project it is a very low budget one so they are completely out of the question. Instead I have formulated a plan to build some of my own and I was wanting to run it by you people in case I am insane: Plan would be to build a humbucker pickup from scratch that I could epoxy into a cover like this: http://www.philadelp...rd-bass-guitar/ The internal pickup I would make to a design broadly similar to this one: http://home.zonnet.n...akingpups.html. Essentially I would just be building a MM style pickup but tailored to the dimensions of the above cover. Parts needed seem to be relatively simple, really just some vulcanised fibre sheets for the bobbin, some 9mm diameter Alnico 5 magnets, 42 AWG pickup wire and then wire for connecting the coils and the final pickup to the rest of the electronics. Plan is to wind them using a hand drill, time consuming but simple. The only parts that seem hard to source are the 9mm diameter magnets and if they prove to be a real pain I could always opt for two 5mm magnets per string like a jazz pickup. I am aware this DIY deal is not going to sound like an old Tbird pickup but really I just want a big sounding humbucker that looks cool. Is there anything about the above plan that seems really stupid or any advice you would like to give?
22. Bought a DHA VT-2 from Tredders, quick and easy sale, item was brilliantly packaged and sent very quickly. Great and trust worthy seller.
