Did you have the input gain set correctly? I.e, a notch below where the blue clip light flashes when you play hard, and how was it EQ'd and where were the filters set?
They are very pretty.
And light, well built and sound incredible ;-)
I am and I want the Tonehammer 500 and 2x TKS S112 cabs. I'm sick of carrying heavy valve gear and will be buying the afore mentioned in the new year. Take one or 2 cabs as required
My two S112 and LM3 are perfect for this. Use one or two cabs as required with a clip on tuner for an easy load in/out.

Hi Kev. Not with the LM3. How was the gain and DI level set? And was the signal pre or post EQ? Also, maybe obvious, but was the desk set correctly?

I should be trying a WT550 soon!

Mine too :-)
look at the, burst, RW and tort goodness
It's a beauty, for sure. There is no better combo for a Fender. Your guitarist needs to lose those sunnies though! -

Nice one. Best colour too! -
Given how personal questions 6 and 10 are, perhaps it would be a good idea to expand upon what you are researching and what the purpose is?
-
Lovely looking jazz bass, all but the scribble on the headstock. At least put it on the back of the flippin' headstock.
-
I'm surprised the track isn't faded out before the solo bit - most radio stations seem to cut off the outro these days, sometimes even the whole last chorus.
-
Why don't you have a guitarist or male BVs? From watching your video I'd say both are needed. Great playing though. Good luck with it all.

I had a Babicz on a VM Jazz once, whilst also owning a standard one, sonically I don't think it made a bit of difference but it was a nice bridge.
9 o clock! Every other amp I've used has been between 11 and 1
That is low! Between 12 and 1 for me too with a LM3.
-
Interestingly, I'm finding I have to set the Gain a LOT lower than any other markbass head I've used to stop the clip light coming on! Doesn't make it any less obscenely loud, just strange!
Out of interest, how high is the gain set?
-
Try and play one. You'll know if they are for you or not quite quickly. I avoided them as I didn't want to join the masses, but was asked to use one for a recording session - I've not looked back since.
Just been on the phone to Bassgear and ordered myself an S112. Whilst I can't comment on the cab itself just yet, the dealings I've had with Bassgear and Tommy at TKS (who even replied to my messages promptly whilst he is supposed to be out of office!) have been truly first class. More info and a review when it arrives :-)

I am just getting to grips with the TH500 with my AE112's and they are a pleasant match-up, so much so that I am in two minds about selling them... but I tend to make these decisions slowly anyway. I am loving the change in emphasis in my playing style that this rig inspires.. so I will want the S112's to be capable of the same or maybe speak a little better. I know exactly what I want from the TH/TKS combo and I think I stand a dcent chance of getting it. The TH is pretty versatile for my sound needs but I also agree about comments of the amp having a trade mark Aguilar sound... I call that modern Ampeg...or at least it makes sense to me. I think other units have trade mark sounds as well..Markbass, for example...but that is not to say they are limited/hindered by that, of course. If the TKS speaks well throughout the range..and people say they really do...then it will work for me, I'm sure and there will be the bonus of a 10kg cab... as opposed to 14kgs, all other things considered
From what you've said, sounds like the TKS might be well worth a look.
Sounds good, thinking about an Aguilar Tonehammer 500 with one of these - any opinions?
I'm keen to hear how they pair up too. The LM3 does sound very good through the s112s though.
-
I use the 50-100s on two P basses. Very nice and even sound, the tension is similar to the standard 45-105 rounds that come on Fender basses.
Boss TU-2 or TU-3.
Definitely. I've had my TU-2 for 10 years and it's still bang on.
I've just sold my one remaining TKS S112. I'm replacing it with a TKS S112, though.
Ooh, fit and finished to match your 212?
-
Seems like you`re very pleased with the TKS cabs Matt, am glad to have helped out by buying the Markbass 212 from you, as I`m incredibly pleased with it. Great cab, one of the best I`ve ever owned.
Cheers Lozz. Really glad to hear it's serving you well. It is a fantastic 212.
I know I keep saying it, but the mids on these are really special. 'Focussed' is a good word. I don't have any experience of the Berg CN's, but compared to my HS210s and HT112ERs - that I really liked - the S112s and S212 sit in the mix far more naturally for my taste. It feels like I can get a really tactile response from from the cabs at a much lower volume than the wider-sounding Bergs. I think the videos I posted above show how subtle (and not so subtle) changes in attack really shine through, and that big, reassuring bottom end is just... 'there'.
That's kind of one of the points I was trying to get across above. I could hear myself far better than I have at this venue previously, even when using bigger rigs. Focused and articulate. Edit, just seen your reply! It is a wonderful thing to hear and I've tried many cabs, EQ pedals and basses to get to this point! But am really happy and dying to try other amps through them.
