1. yup, I think I figured that out... although 1st two position doesnt work. but bro, the thing sounds like the milion bucks!
2. hey folks! I ve got my lucky fingers onto this rare beast! I never had a Jay Dee (here when I'm comin from, not many of them even heard of JDee ) but I know that previous owner went to UK back in 1986 to buy it. It's Jay Dee supernatural, probably made in in begining of 80s and it sounds like one of greatest basses of all time! few dings and minor scratches but when you know its date, the bass is super conditioned. also, frets needs some treatment but nothing to worry about! my fingers aint sliced! it has 18V preamp,passive/active switch and beautifull EQ! the body is obviously mahagony, but I 'm not complaining on the weight - I lifted some serious weights over the last decades! as for the sound contribution, you probably know that mahagony has the great sound and sustain. and yes...if someone knows where is the pick ups balance control? could it be the switch or what?
3. I'd def.consider classic vibe series from Squier. (I will buy all 3 of them actually heh!)
4. outboard. esp. if you have nice instrument, it will lower his selling price if you mess with original, say, vintage fender.
5. heres mine. buildt after paul jackson's tele bass. no neck mudbucker tho ( so some of you wouldnt register it as telebass haha) a heavy piece of ash, slab body. one piece maple neck, one saddle for each string and bartolinis. great sound. here's sound/video clip of the bass and meself playing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGvi6uy5zZA...re=channel_page
6. not a fan of it's appearance, but I'll never forget the sound and feel of one fretless Wal 5 stringer I had chance to play sometime ago!
7. would you take fender jazz '73 (sunburst, tort, maple with blocks) for this bass?
8. reggie hamilton made in mexico? i dont get it - does all of those are produced in mexico or some?
9. like someone said, natt watts endorses them. or just plays one... so does p.turner from jamiroquai. as for having one, yea, get in line for order - you can expect yours in some 9 months!
10.
With today's exchange rate 1,200 Euros is about £1,150 so the value of the £ isn't going to help you much I'm afraid. A couple of months back it would have been more like £875 so in UK pricing the currency change will have put over 30% on the price
wow! cheers for the info! i was wondering - what's wrong here... OK. well, then - the price is 850 pounds for ya dear fellow UK folks!
11. bump for great bass. noone interested?
12. bump! here's few sound (and video) samples of the bass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEa86sxrVgw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGvi6uy5zZA
13. Dont get any crazy ideas - you wont be haunted from the big man himself, this bass is all mine but it's been made with his custom bass in mind. It's ash body (selected swamp ash, 10 years old) neck is hard figured maple, Pick ups are Bartolini humbuckers and Schaller tuners. Strings through body. Luthier is from Macedonia, 35 years of experience, lets just say he made few guitars for Steve Vai. Price I am asking is 800 euros (small price for unique bass, not counting Paul's bass here) and you'll have it in 24 hours via DHL.
14. hi everyone, it was awhile since last time I've been around. I got USA Fender Jazz Bass 5oth Ann (1996) 5 stringer for sale. Bass is great, and I am sorry to sell it, but it has to go - don't ask, it hurts! it's one of those - selected materials, buildt to last, with great feel - you'll love the neck! sound is, well, noone really needs to learn about Fender jazz sound, but it really blows my mind everytime I hear it. set up is also excellent. DR strings. I'd send it with Warwick rock bag, still - if you insist on Gator case (in the pic) I need to ask 50 euros more. Price is 800 euros and that includes DHL shipping. Simon from Stuart Zender Forum dealed with me and I'm sure Higgie can add few nice words too haha! well, nuff said I guess. Photos were taken from mobile phone, so I apologize for quality of them. Cheers people and MXmass!
15.
I think black and tort looks ok when the fretboard is rosewood as in my P ...but not so good when it's a maple board as in my DJ Dutch accent ...yesh yesh yesh...more toit and far sexier black on black. Shmoke and a pancake?
very much true, sir!
16. theres no better bass IMO, I am completely sold out on them! ( not that I dont like jazzes and others too! ) why? because they sounds, feels and looks RIGHT!
17. isnt that pearl (instead peral) ? nevermind, that's a CRAZY price.
18.
Sweet, i'd rather like one of those SX jazzes with the flame tops and gold hardware, a guy on here said it didn't sound fantastic but i'm sure if i slapped some SD basslines or barts or something in it it would have a bit more thump
they feels and sounds OK ( especially with new pups and strings ) but they are USUALLY ( saying "usually" to stop some angry perfect SX owner from ambush me ) constructed badly with lousy hardware, so in the end, you have to change EVERYTHING and to adjust that neck every couple of weeks in order to have decent bass. and you better keep it,as you'll never get money you invested back once you want to sell it.

Pups

however, you should hear the difference with better pick up.
20.
I've just got the VM precision for £189 new from gak.co.uk and am in love. If I had the money I would get the fretted AND fretless jazz to complete the set!
you'd need squier telebass aswell, that would be complete VM set.
21.
That is quite a surprise. I knew they were good - but not that good. Is it Korean?
Made in Indonesia!!!
22. I am with you, Linus27. maybe that's not the BEST bass I ever had, but certainly one of top three favourites. I upgraded it with Nordstrand pups and it became a stunner! It's a bass I got most compliments after gigs, ever - that's for sure! It's a KEEPER - I don't need to say more than that.
