Pink Floyd is my all time favourite band so my hats down for the privilege you had and the great job you did! and with Gilmour too. I still enjoy watching On the Island live in Gdansk. great tone from you there! my Q would be: what songs did you play on Bete Noire ??? as you may know,on the layout there's only a list of people not a detailed credits. thanks and cheers!!!

So Sadowsky...

i played only USA sadowsky and that one was briliant. but having Fender jazz Japan, I can only say that is the best Fender I had. not sure about Sad tho...

Cheers
that looks like guy haha! would be nice if you'd stick around... for some QnA, in example...eh...????
7. very cool guy,so underrated... but then, he played with PF and David Gilmour - what more one can ask in his lifetime?
8.
Who?
mr. Guy Pratt him self here on the forum!!! my gosh!!!
9. GAS eases with work. seriously, when you do lots gigs, practicing and recordings, your GAS fades away.
10. if you re after flats but still want some brightness, try TI flats. for some reason ( I guess being nickels and 43-100) they delivers flatwound feel and sound too,but sounds also kinda "modern" for rounds which arent too harsh, I would recommend GHS boomers,NICKEL as nickels usually works well with humbuckers and P bass pickups. and they are not too bright and doesnt feels too fresh and zingy, feels great and has great dynamic/output response.
11. ...and ofcourse, I expect from people to know who they talks about when give their comments - being positive or not.
12.
When there's a thread in praise of a player or genre that I don't like or in which I am not interested, I generally don't bother posting to disagree with the general sentiment. There's no real point, as it's all just a matter of taste and opinion, and I've seen too many threads descend into pointless name-calling and bad feeling just because people like different things. However, when people start to take the absence of any dissent as a sign that the player or genre in question is unversally held in high esteem, it is perhaps worth reminding people that other points of view exist. I do understand that many people here find it surprising that a bassist could fail to rave over JJ's playing, but then again I was genuinely surprised, when I first came to this site some years ago, to find that Motown was taken even slightly seriously by people calling themselves musicians. I think that just shows how we can all get used to talking to people we agree with, and quietly forget that there are a lot of other people out there that think differently. I can't honestly say that I don't rate JJ as a player, it's more that I've never really listened to him because I have no time at all for the kind of music he played. I don't think that makes me 'daft', just someone with a different opinion and different tastes. I think it just goes to show what a diverse bunch we are, with very diverse tastes, which is somehing we should probably celebrate rather than fight over. Just my 2p. OK, back to the JJ lurve-fest.
OK,so you couldn't resist but to give some bug...that's OK, I was saying that - (whether you've taken my previous post as something which "iritated" you or not) - I think that anyone who carefully or overtime listened to Jamerson playing, and knowing things or two about music and circumstances back then - and even today, being a bass player, hardly would dare to say that Jamerson is anything less but a true Master and Genious of bass playing (maybe such titles hurts someone's taste or eyes, but you know what I meant). and I think about all walk of styles, genres etc....
13.
If anyone is in doubt as to just how good this bass sounds then they really should get up to Joe to try it out. It really comes alive in a gig situation & sounds glorious. Jimmy Coppolo's pre-amp is the most 'musical' I've heard, so flexible & impossible to get a bad sound out of
I dont think anyone doubt about the quality of AC basses, I think the Matter of the Cash is an element... but, free bump. all i can do.....
14. well, i would be very f*****' surprised (with voice of Brad Pitt from Burn after reading) if someone call himself a bassplayer and jump in to say that JJ is anything less but The Master
15. "musiquarium" is something like best of... as for "innervisions" - it was always one of my favourites, very jazzy/funky 70's stylish. overall, i think "songs in the key.." is probably the best, even i dont categorize stevie' work in ranking best/worst. each of his albums is musical heaven. try "secret life of plants". or "characters"..."in the square circle".....there's a many. each one amazes me everytime what a musical genious is that man. thank you for the music, stevie,as maxwell said once .
16.
oh check Nate on the SR4...he plays amazing fills like hes having a cup of tea of summin...awsome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFZUvIWu_Ok
yup,my favourite bassist - note the strings buzzing coming from his rather heavy touch, drop tuning and GHS boomers nickels! and ofcourse, natural midrange of Ray and Hartke together!!!
17. didnt see the whole video - but from what i did hear, it's hard to tell. not so good audio and he played in the band mix. that can be anything with all kind of set up ( tone pot, amp. eq,preamp, production, etc....) he should play solo in high resolution to be 90% secure what strings he uses. it's much easier to determine what strings in cases like marcus miller or james jamerson.
18. I used DR for several years before got tired and bored with them. Mine was usually fat beams (MM signature) but I liked low rider nickels as they get along fine with Precision pickups. nowadays I am on GHS boomers rounds (nickel) and La Bella orig.1954 (jamerson set) and TI flats. La bella is the best I ever had and TI are also sweet - very light, soft and punchy!
19. I am not MM fan either, but he played some great stuff apart from his slapping teen town and all . IE- Bryan Ferry' "boys and girls" and "Bete Noire" albums (which are great with stunning basslines and sound!) There was Guy Pratt and Abraham Laboriel too on Bete Noire but I am not sure which songs....
20. my thread. yes, James Lee (Igor) Jamerson was the man. I saw the "standing in the shadow..." milion times already. it strucks me each time. my fav bassline of his is "Whats happening brother". i think you can't go trickiest and funkiest than that (IMHO) also check this link: http://www.bassland.net/jamerson.html cheers!
21. that's interesting. i'm not familiar with the history of his signature bass - i thought they started around 1998. thats 81/82. could it be it's his fender jazz which have been modified by sadowsky?
22. great photos. that's how are you selling seriously. the bass is in good condition as I assume. have a bump from me.
23.
it seems bu reading few oter forums that this MM V (US) is a very good bass and better in a lot of points compare to the Japan one. Like the reissue american vintage 75 jazz bass, but witha string more and a good preamp in. with custom vintage pickups etc ... So, I will see by myself.
do that. as "for better than other one" - well, i can say that for MMiller sig.bass. otherwise, best jazz i ever owned is definately my MIJ Fender jazz bass.
24. know what you mean - one piece. japanese basses are so good. my MIJ jazz (1994.) is best I ever touched! i once played one Precision (CIJ or MIJ) and that bass also felt and sounded right. it was sunburst/maple- however, i had a JV Squier P and that bass doesnt backed that "better than Fender" legend.
25. MM 5 strings is very good bass. better than japanese version 4 strings. just better. but not my bass. not ash/maple fan, nor I play 5 strings anymore...
