1.
I loved Tormato when I was 16ish too. And Drama. TFTO is a different matter
so you aren't fan of TFTO? well, it's a "strange" one. all three albums mentioned are different pretty much.
2.
It's a great album that, along with "Drama", really doesn't deserve the terrible reputation it's got. Squires "Harmonised Rickenbacker" sound on Tormato is wonderful, possibly my favourite bass sound of all time.
haha finally some Yes admirers! good to see you guys! absolute agree with you, mate! Tormato is my fav' all time Yes album. I remember back then, in the eighties (when I started to listen Yes, I was 16) Tormato is being flamed all around, and still is. never understood to these days why, but then, critics are usually bunch of hearing impaired people... (also I do love Drama and tales from topografic Ocean.....)
3. try play it without the amp. if you hear the buzz and noise on lower notes, your neck is too straight. also check the frets, these little things can cause lots of noise when in bad shape.
4. i couldn't tell. seems these aren't in production anymore. probably good basses,(japan) i like the alder/rosewood for the sound and 3t sunburst and tort too for the look. in fact i had one japan fender jazz i sold couple days ago which you could call "noel redding sig" haha! a marvelous bass. here it is: (sorry for OT)
5. could be that pick ups (MIM you said?) are not exactly good ones. my guess, tho, is on the flatwounds and foam under bridge. BUT: is it "dull" when you practice at home or in the band mix? i can assure you, most P basses sounds "boring" to some people when plays in the room, alone, but they are shine and gets alive in gig situation and ESPECIALLY in the studio. in 99% situation, all you need there is a good P bass - it sits well everywhere. maybe after all you aren't a flatwounds fan, but there's roundwounds strings as you know. this all comes from a guy who adores Fender P basses and flats,btw.....(but also has lots of hours in studio and on the road...) cheers.D
6. I know people paid up to 1000 euros for them. not all the time,sure... up to you - if you fall in love with the bass, it's what you want to spend.
7.
Ah yes the weight is a bit weighty. 70.5lbs (or around 40kg for the young folk), your not going to want to fall out with band members if you need to get it moved.
you 're 8 kilos wrong - it's 32 kg. however, dont those numbers puts you off buying this truly unbeliveable amp! as someone said, have your way to the gym, it will serve you good anyway haha! I just purchased an BG500 (with 2x10) today! the amp is great - like it's "big brother" classic or RH, it sounds awesome - lots of character, bottom, clarity, articulation...you name it. and what a power! I hear some forum people talking "they should go with 750w" or so... I think this lil guy can cover any stage we are playing on. very loud!!!! I previously had TC classic head with 2x12 and sold it, regretably ofcourse...so when I saw my retailer has this new combo, I jumped immediatelly to buy it. no doubt, the price is low as it's been made in China, but the quality seems perfect. I like it! (obviously)
8. would be good if you can check that bass personally, but it looks awesome (Jamerson' Funk Machine!!!)
9. note hum trim pots on the left...very important!
10. 0 bids... hm.. guy aint serious in any case. he should "take the bass apart" and make pics - pots, heel of the neck, decal and things...
11. sadowsky is BOMB! lucky guy who bought it...
12. that should be a great deal now - with new bridge and pups, that bass should sing. (stock model is pretty dead)
13. probably no trades, but what can i loose... what about this boy, same year like yours
14. find some sponge at your kitchen or bathroom and cut it. for amp, i had TC head and P bass with flats. i kept everything on 12 o'clock with slight adjustment regarding the room i am playing (bit more or less treble or mids)
15. you really have some spare cash
16. isn't great to have threads like this. showing respect and friendship to each others. cheers!
17.
I've never played a better bass than my Fender '63. That's not to say there aren't better basses out there, but this one has jammed with Stevie Wonder!!
tell us more! to the OT - what Precision is better than Precision, you pretty much answered yourself.... (Fender Precision bass)
18.
Guy, did you use Flatwounds with the Floyd?
he used flats on a P bass for some tunes. if you check P.U.L.S.E. dvd, when Guy plays that P bass with a pick (Waters style) I'd swear I hear flatwounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_ofFa50LzY...=watch_response or here at the start: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBVvv1uXul8
19. ah,celinders.... top basses. i played a five stringer jazz on many ocassions and it blew my mind every time of how good it is - well buildt, feeling, playability, sound, complete amazing instruments!
20.
Lovely set up. You can keep yer ruddy boutique stuff, all you need at the end of the day is a P and a J, the classic combo. I'll bet they sound sweet through the acoustic too?
sure, to me - there's nothing like the fender. sounds big and ballsy through acoustic. i also got ebs combo for little more "modern" sound when i need it and for transport issues aswell
21.
Don't take it personally- it's simply the exchange rate making Euro prices more expensive for the sterling buyer.
sure, but i had comments like - sarajevo is bit faraway and errr... things like that. but OK. what is interesting -we have lots of instruments here, not like before tho, people sold it already to western countries after war, but even now - there's nice good vintage and modern stuff goes around!
22. that's nice of you, molan. pitty that people here hestitate to buy from "oversea" people. that's why i stop use for sale section...
23.
By the way, as English is a foreign language for me I feel a bit shy to use it. Just wanted to know how different is my use of language for the native speaker? I have never got any teachings where to put commas or separatrix for example. Is everything I've written so far understandable?
you are shy to use it? i didn't notice that at all.
