1. Tony Grey is a rare beast - my favourite "Fodera player". (If I am allowed here, as I prefere simplicity and the Funk )
2. cant say i dont miss that band. try this link so you can see paul better haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujKYnIraGgQ...feature=related
3. i should leave no comment - but what can i do? learned to defence myself when injustice strikes haha! wont go into arguing over the net - pretty pointless. i just left my comment on the topic. is that wrong? i know few others left pretty aggressive opinions and noone advices them what to do and what to say. then - if the thread starter didnt left the message within the title like "please dont give any comment if it's not wow, that's terrific!" then why shouldnt i give my opinion and/or suggestion? i think, being the member of the forum "i may reply on the topic" "leave the comment" and so on. faithless wasnt that "friendly" sounding to me as you may suggest - he was kinda "sir please would you left the our room quitly, please?" attitude. best regards !!!
4.
I'm not trying to be offensive, but, if it's a thread about nu-jazz cats and their music, maybe it isn't necessary to post James Brown videos here, is it, as it's entirely different cup of tea? It's cool about his music, but the topic isn't about him nor that style of music (classical funk, in this case, ok..) There's a great thread, 'Funk and Groove', where J Brown stuff fits very nicely, and, here, I would just leave it to discussing jazz cats stuff.. Is that fair enough, mate? easy Faith
youre not offensive, but your comment is pretty arrogant, dude! take it easy, its just a forum and you re not some kind of moderator, are you? what gives you right to "advice"? take a look to the other comments, people talks here, you know and give their coments on certain themes. did I offend you or broke your computer with posting A LINK as part of my observation?
5.
I think "what bass playing is all about" really depends on the situation......
offcourse, but in any situation you can play with a feel, simple and without killing. not that I want to take anything from Janek, nor I can,nor I wish, he is complete player, he can play, but there's something about those showing-offs and overkills I just dont like to see. fair enough.
6. neck is obviously a typical Precision . I know sometime they profiles the neck differently, but here that ain't a case
7. those guys killin, thats a fact,BUT to me,this is what the bass playin is about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTJEu7Tngaw...feature=related
8. great version by top cats! Freddie is the man, have you listened him with East Bay Rhytm ( Headhunters members ) ?
9. here's other stevie' pretty recent gig, hopefully you will forgive the man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IS7ZcnJgwA...feature=related
10.
Although last night he was using a Bossa and not an Aleva Coppola, which he seems to do quite alot.
yup, he plays those too. another "high end jazzoids"
11.
What rig is Nate using? GW in the other thread said the bass is a Sadowsky.
havent seen mentioned show, but nowadays Nate ussually plays Alleva (looks similar to Sad. of what you thought) powered by Hartke amps. and it's so unbeliaveable seeing people comments like "it was s...." "nothing special" and so on... shame! Stevie is a rare genius, from the early days till today.
12.
what are you, a drummer?? I'll try and make it easier for you: its in a great condition for its age....(there you go) because for a gigging bass of 26 years of age dings are expected - the condition also refers too fret wear straightness of the neck and the sound. I never said it was 'mint'. Besides an older guitar that's in mint condition infers that it ain't that great to play!! feel better now?
ha ha! brilliant mate! some people really has no better things to do... I also have japanese jazz bass - best jazz ever had. and it has that same metal wire out from bridge pup. what those guys did with these? some kind of grounding wire or what? mine has hum even with the wire. what gives?
13. maybe you just want a jazz bass now but you aint aware of that? your next step could be strings. maybe you already doin it, but one P with flats other with rounds etc.
14.
Difficult one! They are a rarity anyway. If it was in the UK, cheapest around £225-£250 ish and at the high end of cost around £400. I got one for less than the the figures above but perhaps wished I had gone a little further, as mine is . . . . . Well Worn!! Ah well, nothing that two whole days of work can't sort out!! Won't do that again, I hope!! Different to the T-40 - did post something somewhere that described the T-45 but can't remember where. There is a Volume, a coil select/tone (as per T-40) and a second tone. Genuinely, some good sounds can be had out of it. When these were made as a single pup T-40, they were roughly the same price, not cheaper, as you would think. Cheers.
thanx mate!
15. hi chaps! i got a chance to get one T 45 from '82. what would you say what is it worth?
16. I played old Grabber (had a ripper here for sale with no success like ussually haha) and for me Grabber is better - it was light, with that great sliding pick up. someone said that moving pup does nothing for tone variety - i disagree, think about the position of pup toward the body and strings, when it moves, the sound changes obviously. it had that P bass thump with a more bottom end as with the Gibson basses. highly recommended basses. not sure about new version tho...
17. give us some photos, so we can help you. this is a 82-83 fullerton reissue but MINT is the key word here: http://www.youtube.com/user/eddievegas1#p/a/u/0/QIsR0v4g87A this guy wants 4500 USD for it. I have fullerton, it's not RE, its standard P bass and thats a helluva bass! best I ever had!
18. I would go for BScotch aswell. btw, very lovely gear you have! my kind;)
19. i can hear that bass and feel it in my hands...sweeeet!!!!
20. get my Squier JV Precision, only 500 euros and spare some money for La bella flats or something - it's a very very good Precision bass. it's all USA quality wise. neck aint J Bass like, its typical P, but that's a mean Funk Machine, boy!
21. it's 1983.Squier JV '57 reissue, 2 tone burst. Tuners arent original, it is replaced with Fender japan jazz bass tuners. There's a holes on the back of the headstock where the original tuners were. The pickguard also is not original. as you see, there's one extra extra hole on the pg - it's from american P bass which had J pick up on the bridge. the pics: few more things to point: the bass has been refretted, new ones are installed by professional and perfectly well dressed. there's a set of a new Ernie ball regular slinky strings too. the price is 500 euros. DHL delivery included on my expense. thanx for watching. Dragan
