1. uh,that site is quite dangerous! GAS hazard! be aware!(should be entitled before you enter)
2.
Noticed no one has voted for the highway one. Any particular reason why??
something always "missing" with those basses. construction, feel, sound, look; one or two or even three of above mentioned are always a prob.
3.
Surprised you didn't notice that the tuners were also not the right ones, after our previous discussion a while back about extremely stiff reverse-winders On this pic the tuners are the Schallers which I replaced with the period-correct wood-gouging vintage type.
yup,1st thing I noticed were the tuning machines as JV series has 60 vintage style with long three. I am tempted to pull of those from my JV p bass and make switch on my Fender japan jazz bass.
4. see how do you like it. you are paying tipical current price infact. I got an JV Precision (many owners of JV basses and guitars swears they never ever had a better instruments btway) and even it's a very good Precision - nothing beats my '83 american Fender Precision. that's just me...
5.
dr1, thats because your serial number is JV2. earlier in the thread someone said that its only the JV0 serial numbers that had big fender little squier, after that they swapped it.
never heard of that too,but could be if you say so... anyway, the original poster said that his bass has no JV on the plate.
6.
1. '62 P Bass - First bass I 've owned (got her in '75), travelled the world with me and still my favourite 2. '79 'Ray - A lightweight 70's 'Ray and very resonant. Got her new in '80 and also came on many a trip 3. Warwick Thumb NT - with Ebony 'board - this is just a great bass 4. 4001 Chris Squire - the one I got from Stacker. Great bass (Squire got me into bass) 5. Alembic MK Sig - the only one of my favourites that I no longer have - wistful sighs
so here's whats happened to jamerson' Funk Machine!!!!! that's a great looking one BTW
7.
Hi If a headstock has a large traditional Fender Decal with squire in small letters what does this make it? Obviously I've seen (and owned) Squire by (fender in small) But with Fender in big, what is the origin? Thanks for any help Btw its a P bass
never heard of such. it shouldn't be famous JV series. I got one Precision JV from 83. and it's headstock and decal looks like this: backplate like this:
8. I currently own 2 of them for sure and I am keeping them: 1 Fender Precision,USA,1983,black/maple 2 Fender jazz,Japan,1994.,sunburst/rosewood as for the other three,as far I remember, what I liked the best (and regret for sellin...) 3 Clover Apeiron H5, ( I even had artist endorsement from them, and I dropped it as a stupid f...) 4 Lakland DJ 4 strings ( awesome construction and sound, but I didnt gave that bass a fair chance to FEEL it perhaps in week or two...) 5 MMan Sterling 4 strings ( that thing sounded better than any StingRay but at the time I prefered Ray )
9. I see the future: this will be moved on to....a.... gear porn section!!!!
10. well,my 1st choice would be an original vintage (have and played some already) but I guess I would love to have one of these new custom shop or anniversary. recently I bought Fender jazz made in Japan from 1994. sounds funny but that is best jazz bass I ever touched! it just feels so good and fit my hands and ears. (eyes too!!!)
11.
Wow budget Pino sig
haha! yup, exactly!I could buy one of those!
12. funny you offer that - I got an TC electronic and RS 212 cab! I am looking either for cash or StingRay 76-79. cheers!
13.
After trying for months to sell my old (late 80s) B4 I ended up taking £500 for it. That was pretty much mint condition too - even still had the lettering on the pickups. They're fantastic basses but the fact is they're just not that sought after.
yes, the market is cruel, it's not all about the quality of some product. Neverthless - I would take 500 pounds too, if that would mean no shipping issues. I know it's hard to deal like this - guy from Sarajevo and people from UK,but I sold couple of times to UK. I could drop price tho a little bit for a serious buyer.
14. there is new Blade models (tetra standard) which are made in China, but we are talking here about first Blade serie (Levinson custom shop) Switzerland made, which are considered to be "even better basses than Fenders" . They are top notch instruments with "boutique" materials and building quality. 800 euros for instrument such as this,on your doorway - well,if you can find it for less - good for ya!
15. A GREAT GREAT bass guitar, late 80is-early 90s. Levinson custom shop made bass, not in production for long time now. Swamp ash body, satin finished maple neck and Ebony fretboard. Frets in "like new" shape. Custom electronics and pick ups (Levinson) Perfect condition all in all. Price is 800 euros - cheap, but the times are cheap too. You'll get it on your doorway via DHL in 24-48 H. PICS: here is the same bass, in action, with Paul Jackson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFcpBB4Yy_M
16. hello chaps, back from my short trip (no LSD!! ) Monday bump, and to answer a questions - price would be 2000 euros if its cash sale.
17. thanx guys,PMs replied. as someone pointed there - yes, it can be cash sale too,so I can invest in StingRay from there. bump'a'cheers!
18. I have GAS for an old stingray, let's say '76,but even '79 can be discussed if in good condition. here's pics of mine pretty mint condition jazz, it's 1976 (pots and pups says 76 even neck serial dates S7)so it's probably 76/77. alder/maple,blocks,bindings. it is all original except frets - which is normal and I guess even desirable so you don't have to deal with refretting. action and all set up is flawless. sounds great, lots of tone and output. comin in original case too.
19. Here's mine '83 USA Precision. like someone said before - it'll never be for sale...I feel the same about mine. Simply the best bass I ever had. (true, I came across one Japan made Fender Jazz recently which is aswell a monster!!! Finally I found jazz which suits to my hands and ears!!!) back to P bass..it's very light (alder body) with nice thin,narrow,jazz-like neck. feels very light and dry,but with PLENTY of tone. it has Di Marzio pick up,yes, and sounds like punchy loud fat machine. if you can find one like these - get it!
20. you should know which one to keep. we never seen your basses nor we know which you feel better.
21. I got one - sell it in 3 days later. somehow I just couldnt set it up. if the neck were straight and action was fairly low (which I do on my other basses ) - that bass would twang and zing BIG time. something were wrong with the construction and (or) frets. also, the tone... were pretty dull. IMHO.
