So, so many to choose from. I would say that the worst was when we were hired for a surprise birthday party - the surprise for us was that the room was full of OAP's. After several non polite complaints about the noise we ended up playing at a barley audible level (it was still too loud!). The icing on the cake was when two extremely elderly gentlemen in the front row directly in front of us produced an electronic chess game and proceeded to play it for the duration of the night. Each song was not only met with a stoney silence - but also the sight of the two old dudes attempting to beat each other at chess oblivious to our existence. It's all part of the rich tapestry of life.

I have been a long time admirer of Carl Thompson basses (and Mr Carl Thompson himself) - but have never owned one. They are as rare as hens teeth....anyone here lucky enough to own one?

In that case you have just purchased one hell of a bass....congratulations!

Absolutely great basses...but from memory of my buddy's FAB bass they did not have filter based electronics. I am a little surprised you can achieve the "wah" effect.

Best advice is...have fun. That's what it's all about.

In all honesty I believe that the name playing the instrument is more important than the name on the headstock. In my experience the search for the perfect bass is like chasing the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

I share your sentiments....I have been fighting the urge to purchase the 5 string version. It looks like the perfect sub £1000 fretless.

I have no idea what it is...but it looks great!

These are very lightweight, comfortable and playable instruments. My Sr605 was a featherweight 7.5lbs and my SR1205 weighs in at 8lbs. Highly recommended.

I saw Rush fall flat following a complete Alex Lifeson howler in Glasgow.
