1. I like the idea of the reverse P with the MM, but it doesn't look like it would fit inside the original scratchplate. Does anyone know what sort of pickup was in the American Deluxe P? I know the originals were a Bill Lawrence design but are they an MM style or some sort of hooligan Jazz pickup?
2. I've always played with a plectrum and use Dunlop 0.60mm if that helps.
3. I'm not keen on the bridge on my P V. It's a cast BBOT if that makes sense but the saddle on the B is being pulled in towards the E and the G isn't quite in line with the poles on the pickup. I'm sure it's not a problem but I'd like some more adjustment if possible.
4.
I'd go with 65' Fastback with Cammer S plant in dark graphite blue w/ white stripes, but yours is nice as well
Oooh, I like the gills behind the door on that
5. I've had both the 4 and 5 string versions of the Schaller 3D and rate them very highly. Lots of adjustment up and down, back and forwards and side to side. The string path is nice and simple as well so restringing or intonating is easy as well.
6. '68 GT, in green, like the one in Bullitt
7. Some of you have said to get a hot pickup to better match the existing Fender standard P one. Er, what do you mean by that, and how do I tell whether it's hot enough?
8. Yes I know I only got it last week, and yes I know that no-one but my wife and I have seen it but I'm thinking of PJing my new P. Suggestions please as whether to go for an American Standard Jazz V pickup or one of the MM style ones the later Deluxe P's came with, or even to replace the P pickup as well so to have a matching set of aftermarket pickups. Getting the standard Jazz pickup is currently my favoured option. It may never happen but I'm thinking about it!
9. Has anyone used Paul at Arrowhead Guitars for anything?
10.
Nice ! Candy Cola Red?
It is indeed. It's a weird colour TBH. Lovely but weird. Where the light hits it it's a metallic red but that really quickly fades to a rich reddy brown. I like it!
11. Shiny! Nowt wrong with more Precisions I can't see the jack socket. When you said Strat style I expected to see the chrome recessed pocket on the front of the bass, Is it in the side?
12.
Is that the George North signature model?
Given the length of time it's taken to get this far it's more a Heineken Cup trophy celebration!
13. My new baby:
14. Ta-daa Not only was my new bass waiting for me, but my Christmas pressie was as well, a new hard case for my other bass I've had a good look and a quick noodle whilst dinner was on and it's lovely. Sensible action and a non-floppy B string There are a couple of things I'm a bit surprised by, the B and G strings have all the string wrapped around the tuning post and the B and E strings sound really woolly compared with the other three but the outside edge of the pickups are screwed down so far they're nearly flush with the body so it could just be that they need winding up a bit to bring them closer to the strings. 15. It was waiting for me when I got home pics later www.basschat.co.uk/topic/227177-nbd/
16. I've just seen that the status on my new bass on the ParcelForce track and trace has been changed to delivered I so want to go home now and caress it. Or complain because it's been smashed to a million pieces...
17. £15 Posted A PJ Pickup set from a Korean Aria Pro 2 Magna Series 5 String. All screws, foam supports and 3 control knobs (splined fitment). Oops, supposed to be £15 in the Trade/Price box, but I can't edit it. Sorry.
18. Finally some pictures! Sorry it's taken so long. It weighs 1.4 kg though and came from eBay! This is what it was going to look like
19. No idea! But from an engineering POV it's rather nicely done. It might work better as art though
20. An half finished unbranded P-Bass project in bits. The body is solid wood not ply. Currently finished in Halfords white primer and I also have the white scratchplate that came with it but I think I may have mislaid the screws. The Fender style bridge holes have been plugged and new ones drilled to take a Schaller 3D4 bridge for sale separately. The neck has had the face of the headstock (badly) finished in yellow. The 4IL elephant ear tuners and ferrules have been removed for painting but they are included. The body and neck are from different instruments but the body has been plugged and re-drilled to take the new neck. Neck plate, and if I can find them, the scratchplate screws included. I'll post pics of the whole sorry mess and the intended re-fin design if anyone wants them. £50 Posted
21. I have a Schaller 3D4 bridge in chrome. I don't have any shims or screws for it though. It's pre German re-unfication and says made in W. Germany on it so quite old, maybe that makes it vintage or antique and I can ask hundreds for it, but I doubt it I'm after a probably overpriced £20 inc posting or trade for a Schaller 3D5 bridge also in chrome. EDIT - it doesn't say made in W. Germany! But it is sold pending the usual.
22. I think the dot markers are bolts holding the fingerboard on. Is it wrong to say that I quite like it?
