2. Any idea how the bridge pickup compares in output to an American Standard P-Bass? I'm thinking of dropping one into my bass.
3. Has anyone got one of these basses? What's the double Jazz style humbucker pickup like in output and sound?
4.
It just goes to show how things have changed. In the 70s i regularly paid to see bands in pubs. In those days it was the norm rather than the exception to pay. I've seen lots of groups for free way back then but also have paid to see The Stranglers, Dr Feelgood, Average White Band, The 101ers, Eddie & The Hot Rods etc for 50p and i even remember seeing AC/DC for the not inconsiderable amount (at the time) of £1.
Was that in the main bar or a separate room? The point I was trying to badly make was that if I went down to the Dog and Duck for a drink and there was a band on in the bar then I'd be surprised to be asked to pay. If that band were in the separate function room annex of the Dog and Duck then I wouldn't expect to be able to get in without paying.
5. It depends I suppose, I wouldn't expect to pay to see a band if they were on in a pub, unless the pub had booked and organised it as a ticketed event, but nor would I expect to walk into a function room or hall attached to the same pub when there was a band on in there for free. If that made any sense at all!
6. I and a couple of mates saw Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish in Birmingham on Saturday. Less Than Jake kept stopping to talk to the audience and invite random members of it up on stage for a dance-off, which IMO completely killed any atmosphere and continuation. Reel Big Fish on the other hand chatted to the audience but kept the songs coming which I think made for a better set. Someone else will have a different opinion of course
7. I suppose I'm the only one who thought of the old Access credit card advert then
8. Is that the one that can run to 300w with an extension cab? I've got a pdf for it that I can send you tomorrow if it is. Welcome BTW
9. We're going to need a bigger boat...
10. Cheers for that advice HJ. I've been to an SE Bash, and had thought of a jam room with a house band and raffles etc, but TBH, as a first event I didn't expect this level of interest! The main atrium is just outside the door and we're able to use that as a milling space, plus we have an external door to the car park if the weather is clement.
11. BC skippers checked with and there's no problem regards the website to selling stuff at a bash. We'll make an area out of the way or you could put a post-it on whatever it is
12.
A solid colour MIA Precision 5er with a Jazz pup, age not important, I'd just like a genuine Fender. More curiously, a couple of flight cases!
Nothing any more, I've got everything, except my P doesn't have a J pickup. Yet...
13. Do you know anyone either into silversmithing/jewellery or modelling? They may be able to repair the tuner instead of buying a replacement.
14. I got a 3U flightcase from Matt. As described, a fair price and delivery when he said it would be. Top gent
15. 1. Si600 - No gear, I expect to be too busy and I've nothing exotic or interesting! 2. Doyle - V940, ME-20B, Random self build
16. Copy my thread of names above, paste and add yourself with any gear you're bringing. It doesn't matter if you're a newby, come along and say hello

18. As far as I could see it's fully equipped, kettle and cooker included. We didn't look through it but I'm sure there are mugs.
19. I'm not sure I'm allowed to do this but.... I've got 11 .73 Tortex pics if anyone wants them, well, I've actually got 12, but one is a bit scruffy having been used They're not flexible enough for me, I prefer the .60s. First to shout gets them.
20. Will the Baton be in or around Leicester in May and would it like to come to the Midlands Bass Bash?
21. EVENT INFORMATION IN THE FIRST POST OF THE THREAD Roland Rock and I visited Brockington College today to have a look and I think we've found a bit of a doozy. The room is reasonably large and can be separated with partitions. There is a kitchenette and also toilets so we're self contained. We've only booked the one room as neither of us have done of these before but the hall can be used to pop out for a chat should we get overrun with guests. So really, see you in May.
22.
Picks have arrived!!! There is a choice of two - the first and more numerous is the BC logo, the second is rarer (only found 2 in the bag so far) Basschat.co.uk logo. I was hoping to keep them for the next Herts Bash but may crumble under pressure if they're required for the BC stand at the LBGS.
Why are there only 2 Basschat.co.uk ones? Did you order an equal number or did the printers make the order up as they went along? They look good BTW
23. If I can find one, I'm thinking of getting a double Jazz style humbucker, like the American Deluxe series and having it split so that it's a 70's position normal Jazz with the option of fat humbucker style. No idea if it's a sensible option, what it would sound like or anything. The biggest problem is finding a suitable pickup.
