Dread Bass

I like it its looking cool. i loved this bass when i saw it cause t has such a cool story. but you can think of it as evolution rather than a complete change. you have stayed true to the basses origin but updated it into 2007. a very good turn out well done. keep us posted on how that preamp works.

firstly welcome to basschat it is a lot of work for what you get. . I tried this i spent over £200 getting all the tools and stuff and had an absolute blast doing it. but the bottom line is i could have got a good bass for that money. So if you are doing it simply for plesure then go for it but if you are trying to save money i wouldnt recommend it.

is the fingerboard profiled flat like on some double basses im a lefty and wondering if i can convert it.

Hi dood this is going to be some bass. I wanted to ask you about your ramp. i am thinking of getting one made wen i go with my upgrade to emgs on my six string. I am guessing you think its worth having but can i ask why? I find that the sweet spot for my tone is just infront of the bridge pickup and i like to play over something to help me with my speed so it makes sense for that. Also does it help with three finger tech in general i think i read you said something along those lines. any other reasons im missing for you?

an update after talking to jon shuker i am thinking with going with emgs. Jon reckons they wil give me the sound im after also it means they will be easier to fit. On the refinish he says cause its a neck throu it entails a lot of work which is what i expected so i may leave it for now. But i am going to get a ramp fitted Dood do you think its worth having one?

Thats not me that is steve digorgio he is the bass player for death, sadus and many others he is regarded as being the best metal bass player by many. so in short i wish that was me. i wish i cud swap that would be a party trick.

hi Chris it already has a three band eq with an 18v system but the pickups are passive. So will alrady have a preamp? but a preamp upgrade would be nice too if it doesnt have one. Sorry electrics confuse me. I really like the bass and its not easy to find a 6 string left handed so i think my best bet is to upgrade this one.

thanks dood, im going to have a look today at dimensions. i really fancy nordstrands i figure if im going to upgrade i may as well go all out. i am thinking of getting a refinish now as well as i really hate the orange tint. i gave your mate john shuker an email about it.

Hi I have a 6 string schecter studio bass i really like it and am playing it more than my others just now. It came with emg hz pickups which are passive and as this is the bass i will use live i am thinking about upgrading. what do you recommend? are there any direct replacments except active emgs obviously? is it worth it? what do u guys think

well maybe its just me but ihave heard that word used loads to describe people from all over east asia. Thats why i find it offensive. To me it is a racist word used to describe the colour of someones skin so to me it is exactly the same.
