Im trying to get a similar overdrive/distortion tone to the one in this song specifically when the bass player plays slap. He uses a boss multi effects i think but i want to capture it using a stand alone. any ideas guys?

Damn shame. I no that some people have had mixed experiences with them but i had a great experience nd if it wasnt for those guys i would never have had my Alembic. A sad day

I went through the same thing. The roundwounds mark the fingerboard a bit but nothing else. I like the sound of round wounds so i tried to comprimise with ground wounds and i was never happy. I now use roundwound on both my fretless basses both ahave rosewood boards and i dont think it has done anything but mark the board no damage as such if you get what i mean.

I quite like the boss ceb cant really fault it i also like that setting on my whammy

so i guess its a good idea to take spare set of strings to the gig then. I cant take a backup as i only have one six string. i will have my freless tho hahahah jus have to do the whole gig on that.

That just looks bad there is no 2 ways about it its horrible im surprised that neck is still attached.

they are some good ones. I may be playing fretless for this gig its a really easy tune so should be ok. im going to go sit in a dark room and practice now.

Well im doing my first gig in almost 2 years next week and i started thinking abot what silly things i may do. I remembered on my first gig ever with my one week old alembic i was playing starting to get into and my bass just went dead. I had no backup and im left handed so couldnt borrow one In my blind panic i checked the controls. Yes i had turned the volune down with my hand while rocking out. what a fool. So i was wondering if i can learn from some of your guys school boy errors or wise words and save myself looking like a numpty again.
