1. sorry to the OP for hijaking your thread
2. Im sorry but refering to a british person as a brit and a chinese person as a "chink" are just not the same thing. The conatations of the words are totally different the word "chink" is a racist slur and to me it would be the same as calling a black person the N word. I am all for free speech but if people cant use it to treat each other with respect then where is the point.
3. well done iv wanted a acoustic for years but hav never been able to justify it
4. I kind of want it but my common sense is saying no
5. there is a factory tour on the alembic website www.alembic.com i dont no how to do one of those link things
6. i WOULD SAY DOWN RIGHT OFFENSIVE
7. I guess if you only play 4 string fretted then having more that a couple a bit overkill but i have 8. four good basses and four cheap ones. I have the cheap ones for fun. to mess about with and i just like having them around but the 4 good ones are more practical. My alembic is for recording as is my fretless rick turner to an extent. then i have my 6 string for live and extended range stuff and my fretless stingray for live too. I really want a five string fretted but then i would have to get rid of one of the five string fretlesses as i dont use them that much.
8. i agree i think thats what the problem is i thought i had got up to speed but i guess not i will work on that for an hour first today. if anyone is interested the band are threnody: www.myspace.com/metaltodiefor it melodic death metal some of the songs are kind of like opeth i guess.
9. hi nice to have you i used to live in leicester for a year it was pretty cool im in notts now but my g/f lives in loughborough so i still go there all the time
10. yeah i think tomoro when i practice i will get the metronome out and warm up slowly and try to stick to using three fingers rather than changing between the 2 im still not comfortable with the three finger thing but it is easier to play faster and i find it more consistant.
11. cool i was wondering about putting the cold pack i got for my back on it to see if it helps. Im falling to bits at 23
12. It took me ages to work mine out cause i read the manual wrong it was about to go out the window then i figured it out
13. I see a chiropractor for my back and neck as it is. i was there today n she didnt notice any problems so i hope no shattered disks. Its funny how an injury in one bit of your body cn effect another bit. I remember reading somewhere that your jaw can effect your heart but i may have dreamt that in a dentist nightmare
14. cool thanks for the advice i will think about relaxing. i always thought i was quite relaxed wen i play but maybe its unconsious. For this band i have needed to adopt a three finger plucking technique and i think that might be a factor. I dont play very hard but it is metal and maybe im getting caried away
15. In a new band and its death metal. i am trying to learn the songs for the next practice on friday. got 3 and a half down out of 6. The music is very fast and tech so ive been practicing alot especially today, as its my day off from uni. i have started to notice a pain in my forearm which feels like i have strained my tendons a bit. i have heard all about rsi so im a bit concerned. I warm up by doing scales and playing up and down the strings. is there anything else i can do to protect myself while i try to get through the music? i will rest it for the rest of the night. thanks
16. welcome there is nothing better than playing live audience or not
17. Hi ARGH it was a member of this sites synaesthesia. Thats right a seven string LEFT HANDED bass that has to b a rare bird. it was a Conkin groove tools and i really liked it. My band play in drop C so i think i could do with a low F# string. looking at yours has got me gassing.
18. nice to meet you. there are plenty of Warwick and Trace fans on this site so you will feel right at home so come on in.
19. i love the idea of a ramp that is a pickup
20. hello looking forward to seeing pic of the Wal
21. welcome looks like you will fit in here nicely
22. what about a pickup that runs from the end of the neck to the bridge that doubled up as a ramp with a control to select where abouts on it you want it to pick up. that would be cool
23. Ok then if we say its a bad time just now when do we think it will improve? jan? feb? march? or is it an on going trend like what is said above that things arnt worth as much anymore.
24. a hondo p bass strung upside down then an ibanez gsr200L which was a great bass
